“We Got A Lot Of Talent.” | Max Lefevre Summer League Sound | 07.09.24
son I got no knowledge no wisdom share it all with us share it all go ahead guys Max just kind of like what are you noticing in these first couple of days of workouts with this squad what’s kind of what are you trying to Foundation are you trying to lay going into the the yeah I me we got a lot of talent uh top of the roster these draft picks are talented we got some young guys that haven’t had a chance yet to play with a you know 18 but it’s got him better uh so those guys have had a really good uh really good start of camp uh but right now we just trying to install in playing hard uh just a defensive principle and trying to the basics of our offense TR to get these guys um coming out of college for some of them kind of NBA principals and things like that with guys like Josh and Leonard you sense a kind of a hunger in them to you know for an opportunity to try and crack the rotation yeah I mean I think they it’s right there for them to take so uh you know if they’re not hungry right now I don’t know what’s wrong with them uh but uh they’ve been good they’ve been good you can tell they have some some sense of urgency uh and uh you know they they playing time to take and it starts right now you know everybody’s going to be watching and evaluating so uh it should be fun to watch I’m excited for those guys what’s your just early impressions of Rob what he what he can bring got super talented uh obviously with the ball uh I think he brings an element of of speed and scoring and just just creation not just for himself but for other people uh he’s made some some great pass being able to break the defense down get to the paint kicking it out and get all guys some shots so that’s something we we can definitely help uh we can definitely use and um I think he can help us with that you were a head coach in Vegas last year Chris has got it this year like what kind of experience is that for young coaches you know trying to rise up the ranks yeah it’s a great experience uh it’s just uh you don’t get a lot of chances to be a head coach you know uh and so it’s really a blessing to to have that chance uh just really just a great learning experience I told uh Chris I was like I mean obviously you on win games but just really take it as a growing learning experience cuz everything you think is going to happen is not going to happen the way you think it’s going to happen so just just just uh keep stay levelheaded I’m going to help you with that cuz I been kind of through it and just uh just enjoy the process it’s a funny exp again you don’t get to do that very often it’s a super talented roster so this point what what do you like about working with chis uh we just on the same page we kind of compliment each other you know even you know during the season with play development working with guys uh kind of bouncing ideas uh uh with each show on Scouts and things like that just discussing things kind of same view on things so uh we good friends really honor to kind of help him he wanted me to kind of be his right hand man help him all stuff my experience so I’m happy to do that and been F what can you tell a young guys like rob you know about the NBA that’s quicking that learning curve yeah he’s just really uh trying to get him the the basics of the difference between college and NBA right away uh NBA spacing NBA offenses get our terminology right uh all these quick things like we not going to make him a better like skilled player in like two days but it’s more about learning the terminology the concepts and all these things as fast as possible so we’re trying to keep this as close as possible to what we do with the 18 uh so that you know right day one on the job is right now and not the training camping in two month so Jaylen Clark spent a lot of last year not being able to play in practice just what’s it been like watching him out there getting some reps in he’s been great uh he’s been clear for a little bit now he’s he’s practice all through uh through June and stuff and uh it’s been fun to watch him uh getting back in shape I love his aggressiveness his his defensive kind of mindset uh so really excited to watch him playing Vegas he’s putting a lot of work on his game what he was rehabing so uh you know it’s love him it’s been it’s been really good another guy desan Nick spent a lot of time watching this team last year kind of what’s your expectations for him in summer league he just we all know Des is super talented he has a lot of game uh but with him it’s always about keeping the game simple making the right plays like how can you help you know 18 uh coming in as a as a point guard at times and really running the show not trying to do too much so that’s that’s what we’re looking for but him we know he got a whole lot of talent a lot of game just can you can you just uh put it in in the bo fits what we need Jaylen offensively like what what what does his game look like on that end of yeah uh it’s super strong uh you know he’s he’s he’s strong so playing up the catch one two dribble hitting you with his shoulder going to finish getting in the paint kick out but yeah really just playing off the catch from the wings from the corners getting down here using physicality to the score create for other people uh that’s how he’s going to play early at least in his career they we going try to add some some more ball skill that where you can you know handle the ball in know situation that’s the start quieter here without Jo Bo ah yeah we see we got got some good energy uh we got some good energy you know obviously uh did a great job super high energy guy super knowledge boy I think he taught us uh as a group a lot of things still Implement and still youed so you know wish him the best but uh yeah miss him but we we keep it roll yeah what what’s your overall message like the rookies and some of the guys that haven’t had a taste of playing at this s yet is they ready to gear up for their first real playing yeah just uh know he’s going to be super physical it’s going to be ugly uh and you just got to just just be ready to compete that’s that’s the biggest thing cuz guys are out there like you know some of these rookies have a job you know kind of give it to them uh like guys you know like ra maybe like to start but like some of these guys out in some of they ain’t got no job and they playing for their life so it’s going to be super physical they see a guy like Rob they going to try to go at him they see a guy like TJ they going to try to go at him uh so just just being ready just being ready for that it’s super physical super a hard playing super fast and transition back and forth so yeah that’s what we expect what’s it like coaching TJ who played a lot more college ball than most rookies do I think he’s already the sixth oldest player on the team just what’s he been like in the first couple days yeah you can tell uh it’s funny cuz I’ve basically coached TJ for two months when I was at Texas te he came me when I left uh so I had a relationship with him and kind of helped recruiting him and uh I was still you had a chance to be be a player from the GE go uh but just uh yeah he’s been really good as well uh he has a lot of he’s playing for great coaches in college between Cris beard and Underwood so super entense guys are going to coach you hard so he been responding to coaching really really well uh he’s been asking questions uh trying to learn all the concept and terminology so super excited to uh to watch him play in the summer league I think it’s it’s a it’s en environment that you should selling so excited watch play awesome thanks
