That’s wild. Nico is the best👨🏾‍🍳

  2. I think Grimes could be better than Green was for us, has alot of the same tools but has a deeper bag imo, he can actually shoot the middy and take 3s off the dribble. Maybe not as flashy of a passer or as bouncy but he’s still fast and athletic in his own right.

Naji also has a deeper bag than DJJ but I don’t think he has the range of who he can guard like DJJ does. I do think he’ll be arguably our best perimeter defender though, it’s just that DJJ led the league in PoA defense % at over 50% of his possessions and I don’t think Naji will handle the smaller more athletic guys as well. He did do a great job in spurts vs Shai though which was cool to see.

Klay is Klay, and anyone arguing that he isn’t a massive upgrade over THJ is lying. Only worry is how he will be filling THJ’s role with DJJ’s minutes. But I trust Sweeney and Kidd to figure out the formula.

  3. To be fair this salary difference is mostly because Grimes was drafted 1 year later than Green, so Grimes is still on his last year of the rookie contract while Green is on his first year of his larger extension.

Naji – DJJ and THJ – Klay make a very similar amount.

Something something previous FO would have given up at least a 1st round pick in one of these deals lol.

The biggest thing is we kept both our first picks and upgraded our roster by a good amount. We all in all used one pick and one pick swap and bunch of second round and Josh Green and Grant to get: Gafford, PJ, Klay, Grimes, Naji.

It’s going to be incredibly important in this new CBA to make sure money spent is being spent well. We of course need to see the additions in action still, but on the surface it appears the roster no longer is littered with those deadweight contracts we had a few seasons ago. It’s a real testament to the turnaround Nico has done with this roster.
