Brandon Ingram continues to seek a contract extension reaching $200+ million, per @WindhorstESPN on @ESPNCleveland.
The Pelicans have been unwilling to go that number in negotiations, and there doesn’t appear to be much interest elsewhere for Ingram at that figure.

Ingram’s career arc is so interesting. He went from looking like a bust as a rookie, to becoming an All Star and one of the best young players in the league, to now no one wants to max him.
If the Pelicans give him this contract, he’ll be the next Zach LaVine.

BI easily gets the max a couple years ago. New CBA is going to make it a lot harder on the very good but not quite star players to get max bags moving forward.

Wondering how many years he’s looking for that 200 mil. A max extension from Pels would be 5/245 mil. If it’s a 5/200 mil extension, that honestly wouldn’t be terrible with the cap set to increase 10% annually the next few years.
with the new CBA teams just cannot afford to give a max to non-superstars unless it’s a rookie extension. Lavine’s max is a product of the old CBA and now he has negative value. he’ll be one of the last of his kind for the time being I think, otherwise Ingram on a max immediately joins Zach as one of the worst contracts in the league
He should just play this season out, if he puts up close to his 24.7pts on 39% from 3 shooting the previous year his value will go up.

The way contracts and salary caps have changed has made the offseason kinda interesting, you got quality guys who aren’t able to get the max contract/extension they want. I wonder what it’ll be like come expansion.
He’s kind of a streaky player. When he’s getting to his spots he looks like kd lite but if his shot is not falling he sulks and brings the whole team down. Unclear if he can be the best player on a playoff team.
he feels committed to that number because he turned down extension last year. Problem is nobody in their right mind is giving him anywhere near that.

Isn’t even the best player on his team. He is 34th in league in points per game, not even top 50 in rebounds per game and 24th in assists per game. Add to that he has only played around 65% of games in the last 5 years. There is nothing that says he is worth $52 mill a year. For a player who plays roughly 55 of 82 games a year and doesn’t excel in anything on the court, his market value would be half that and that is being generous. Players who deserve $52 mill a year are those who play 70+ games and drop numbers close to 25-7-7. Not players who played 55 games and drop 20-5-5. Pelicans should offer him 4 years 100 million and dump him if he doesn’t take it.

If I was running the Portland Trail Blazers, I’d go get a trail blazer. Jerami Grant for Brandon Ingram seems like a fair swap.
