Celtics Sign Tyler Cook to Summer League Roster | Reacting to Best Tyler Cook Highlights

these guys are ridiculous these guys are [Music] ridiculous now how about them damn Celtics and we are back with another how about them Celtics video Sam and I here recording on Tuesday July 9th looking at another summer league player for the Celtics Tyler cook will be playing for the Celtics summer league team he played high school ball with Jason Tatum has spent the past year overseas has got some NBA action over the past few years as well but yeah Tyler cook big man 26 years old six’ eight Sam thoughts before we look at everything great signing we’re gonna find out my thoughts here soon but I’m excited for the summer league I’m excited to get into these guys this is one of my favorite things we get to do all year because we’re both kind of learning on the Fly and then developing opinions within like 10 15 minutes uh unfair opinions probably because we’re just going off very small Snippets he’s played with the calvs the nuggets the Pistons the Nets and the the Bulls so he’s played with is that five NBA teams already got his most run with the Pistons and Bulls 28 and 20 games respectively was pretty efficient in both spots didn’t get a ton of run but scored a little bit rebounded a little bit that’s kind of what you’re going to get from him um we can check back and look at some of his highlights with the bulls a couple years ago then we’ll get to more current Day stuff um with Melbourne and the g league in a year prior to that so here’s some BS highlights from the 2122 season again we’ll move forward as we go but Tyler cook uh is rolling there oh got a little pop to him I didn’t expect that off the first s tier guy of the roster debut and the video no no no no let’s see what else he’s got getting in there little hustle on the glass he’s fighting I don’t know if it paned out but he’s fighting at first I thought he was DeRozan and I was like is he is he doing an ISO right now on the opposite Wing Kobe white absolutely could have just laid this ball up right but Kobe white just could have gotten a light up here stat pad if I’ve ever seen it this was let me see yeah he just he had he put his team in more danger passing that ball off okay drop defense box out out rebounded bonus he’s definitely aggressive on the glass like first and foremost that’s the first thing you notice that dude is hustling underneath he’s got a little bit of Bounce to him where he can rise up throw down those quick dunks and really when you’re looking for a deep rotation big guy not the worst thing to have is a primary skill like I don’t know if I would CL or classify this as an elite skill he has looks like he has a little bit to be desired on the defensive end we haven’t seen a ton of like lock down possessions as he forces a dribble pickup and then forces a tough jumper but like you’re not seeing loud blocks you’re not seeing a ton of like opportunities for him to to show discipline underneath but again fun offensive stuff to look forward to and he’ll probably get opportunities to Showcase it in the summer league because you have nimi and that’s really all you have coming from the big Squad so these rotation big guys on the summer Squad are going to get plenty of opportunities is my guess yeah they should they definitely should um we haven’t seen much of him other than hustling it damn I mean he he can get up we can see that a little bit I didn’t like looking at him and I I didn’t expect him to be like a super athlete I still don’t think he is but he’s thrown down more dunks than I anticipated seeing him do me yeah me too kind of felt like he was going to be a hook shot kind of guy he’s only 6 foot eight he’s a little undersized so I guess you kind of have to have that extra bounce like even Daniel Ty right like when he first came to the Celtics it’s like oh my God this guy’s got a little bit of little bit of legs in him where he’s jumping up a Dunkin on guys blocking shots and everything he’s more of an athlete than I hustles and that’s a good thing Big Boy dunk right there cut up a little bit see who is that in the post I have no idea postor yeah strong move I don’t know who number 11 is but he weighs like two pounds nice pass to the corner thought that second the numbers don’t come through super clear yellow on white on the jerseys is a tough look let’s see no roll that that was like the latest roll of all time yeah what a wild pass though that was he’s gonna be there right right he’s bringing the ball up there I guess so he can he can throw it down I mean these are the easiest dunks you’ve ever seen but he’s throwing back he looks like you know how when you when you first make your guy on 2K and he does all of his stuff like kind of slow like if you make a center he dunks a little slow this is what it looks like to me even though that was a monster slam and I could never do it the one two to get up took a while all right let’s see let’s see some more recent stuff so this one is going to be from uh September of 2023 so it’s the season in the NBL um he spent over there it’s just a lot of rolls man I like that coming out of the b no joke they get in the garden all right see you can put the ball on the floor a little bit interesting nice I know we tried to look at this last year do we know what like the second best league that’s not well the third best leag it’s not the G league and NBA is it’s all subjective right like there’s no definitive like answer I think let me see best basketball leagues in maybe if we run into a scout in Vegas we have to ask like what they consider I think it’s probably the NB um Denzel Valentine came former main I don’t actually know uh it’s probably what a monster fast break this was it might be Spain but I don’t know it’s impossible to know really yeah I mean he throws it down with Force when he gets there um probably the year league but it dep depends where I guess in Europe you’re playing etc etc was it a screen highlight was that got to show he does the dirty work too he’s not just out there to throw down super cool dunks he’s setting those he gets up way more than I thought he did I mean I don’t know how this is going to translate to NBA action or g-league action but I guess he was doing it in Chicago so you see it a little bit but in this league he’s just putting the ball on the floor and going right inside for these athletic finishes respect I mean if I had to choose a place to play Australia would be kind of cool yes very sick except it’s so far away yeah but do anything about that move it closer every once in a while we do get people in the comments that get pissed that we don’t know where stuff is you I mean you know where Australia is though I know where it is I just wish it was closer sh out the floor I don’t know man I’m not seeing too much that moves me with Tyler cook he’s cool he does the Dirty Work he hustles he rebounds but like none of this is like putting him apart that was a nice block I have some more stuff from his time with Melbourne this past year as well these are some of his best plays so we can take a look his uniforms aren’t aren’t half bad no I like them they’re cool colors just a roll I it’s just like is he the goat of rolling Jack he plays like your big man plays in 2K when you hit the LB button and call for a pick and roll yes exactly when you just run up there and you set that something nice close out emphatic love it 26 68 small for a big the not shooting thing at that height and with how much other stuff he’s not really doing does not leave me too amped up about Mr cook here unfortunately right and from an exclusive Celtics perspective there’s also the oh like they already have neimi and cornette who don’t really shoot the ballman is borderline a non shooter not that he can’t do it but and Watson too kind of shoots but not really he’s got the he’s got the efficiency I’m excited Tyler I’m excited to see Tyler cook throw down some dunks in summer league now though now that I know he can like this he’s hustl on the glass man he has a good nose for the ball but I like it it’s gonna be it’s going to be fun to watch maybe he’s going to go in there and turn the momentum of a summer league game but without the shooting without the extra size it’s tough to imagine happening in the NBA who knows what’s going on with Main’s Big Guy R oh that was a sick pass oh my God what a wild pass that was insane good for him man sheesh shoot a jumper okay we’re not jum we’ve not seen him take one jumper yeah not one Ben Simmons from Shaman hold up let’s see Tyler cook three-pointer has he taking any I just want to see him take one I don’t know if we’re going to see it I need 30 and 14 in the G uh in the g- league I don’t know man um let’s go here where do you think unfortunately I I think he’s down here I think he’s D tier I just I think he’s on this well chance of making the two-way probably D tier I think he’s gonna be a c tier summer league guy I think like I don’t know we we haven’t watched Tilly yet so there’s that competition aspect to it but overall like he’s fine probably go in there and do some dirty work Off the Bench but he’s not somebody you’re setting appointment viewing for he’s not these other guys where we watch Jaylen house and we’re like wow these are fun highlights like if he gets in we’re going to be able to look for this like he’s just going to be setting screens hopefully good screens for the ball handlers and maybe he’ll get rewarded with some lobs yeah I just don’t know he doesn’t do anything outside of the normal that moves me too much I’m excited to watch him play like he said he’s an energy guy might be fun in Vegas but I think this is about right um anyways let us know what you guys think of Tyler cook let us know if
