as the days go by and the Los Angeles Lakers continue to stand Pat with no progress on the trade front fans will have to painfully watch as what remains of the 2024 free agency pool continues to dry up now to start the upcoming season even more pressure will be put on the young Lakers on his full roster as Max Christie will have to prove that fresh extension was worth it D connect in just his rookie season will be held to the expectation of being one of the better three-point Shooters on this team and what was ready short leash for Brony James to prove he deserved to occupy a crucial main roster spot will be even shorter a subset of ler fans already have their fair share of pessimism given the lack of consistency both rookies Brony James and Don connect have showcased so far in California classic but at the same time fans need to remind themselves to be patient as these rookies get their very first taste of basketball at the next level not all incoming prospects could immediately Hit the Floor running like Lakers summer league starting center Colin Castleton who dominated the California classic straight out of the gates and well into the Summer League last year in just his rookie season after going undrafted Castleton showcased his diverse skill set of being able to provide a saw level of Rim protection Finish Well around a basket comfortably knock down a mid-range shot and to many fans surprise pass the heck out of the ball as a playmaker at the top of the K unfortunately many fans lost track of his journey in the midst of the whole darham rotational Madness but Castleton will continue to prove that he’s just too talented for the g-league immediately dominating once again with his Uber efficient average of nearly 19 points 11 rebounds four assists and close to one and a half blocks per game all on above 60% shooting from the field needless to say Castleton was beyond impressive and made a really strong case to be given minutes in derham’s rotation but the biggest argument against it at the time was castleton’s lack of Quality Floor spacing to seamlessly play off Superstar Anthony Davis while that was the case until just now as in the month of July Castleton has returned to dominating the offseason games once again coming fresh off of performance perance where he dropped 18 points 11 rebounds three assists two Steals and four blocks against the Miami Heat in just castleton’s three games he attempted three three-pointers and knocked down two of them in incredibly smooth fashion as part of interviews he said that expanding his game to Beyond Arc was a goal of his and clearly he’s been putting in the work as a results speak for itself now not only is Colin Castleton different from recent ler centers due to his ability to playmake but the arrival of his three-point shot couldn’t have come at a better time don’t be surprised if KH Castleton even on his two-way contract ends up being Ace up to sleep for new head coach JJ reick and how he decides to run the second unit front Court Christian Wood and Jackson Haye picked up their player options this off season but given their underwhelming first season of the Lakers if given the option it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see the front office part ways with the two uniquely flawed big men well that’s exactly where Colin Castleton comes in though as he’s clearly the most well-rounded big men outside of Anthony Davis on the Lakers roster with his traditional size and length standing at 6’1 with a 7 fo4 wingspan he’s put on weight now at 250 lbs he’s got the Beloved Blue Collar work ethic on both ends of the floor and he’s polished the skill set to the point where he could literally do a little bit of everything on the floor although Castleton only averaged 3 Minutes last season all of which came in garbage time there’s plenty of footage out there spread across the g-league California classic and summer league indicating castleton’s got what it
