MASSIVE Sengun Knicks Update… – Knicks in TRADE Talks With Rockets | Knicks News

Ian Begley has revealed a massive Alper and shenon update as the New York Knicks are in trade talks with the Houston Rockets about Alper and shenon and we are going to break it down so what’s up guys welcome back to ni digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into the video as we always do because just a few hours ago Ian Begley broke the news that the New York Knicks are in trade talks with the Houston Rockets regarding Alper and shenon let’s take a look now as mentioned right here by Begley the Nixon Rockets have had contact about a potential Alper in Shang gun trade it is unknown if the Rockets are willing to move Shang Gun Mark Stein reported earlier that Houston gave rival teams the impression that they were gauging his trade value last week which makes me think a few things one the Rockets are absolutely serious about moving Alper and Shang and we will talk about why that is and how it could affect the New York Knicks in a little bit but also are the Knicks really going to trade for Alper and shenon or are they taking the temp on this type of deal cuz when we look at things Alper and shenon does not fit the type of mold that Tom Tibido would like to have at Center we know tibs likes the way that OG guards big men so say the Knicks run it to Philadelphia tibs seems comfortable throwing OG on Joel embiid and it then leaves the thought that okay D venzo will be starting still in this case probably maybe or I don’t know because it makes you think that Julius would probably get traded next and here’s the deal I was going to go into this in a few minutes but we’re just going to talk about it now because it’s really the big elephant in the room when you think about it Alber and shenon is due for a contract extension and when you look at his numbers as a young player on a rookie contract it makes you think how much he’s going to get paid and that’s just what we’re going to do Sheng gun put up 21 points per game last year nine rebounds and five assists he got over a steel per game but is not really a rim protector shot 54% from the field and nearly 30% from three all of his threes were assisted he doesn’t shoot too many of them he’s mainly a mid-range weapon who could also score down low here’s the deal with alperin shanon he’s like a more modern better version and I don’t mean this this could sound like a discs to him he’s like a more modern better version of the way that NIS caner played where there’s not three-point shooting but there is a lot of mid-range shooting great work on the low block not a great defender now Shang gun is better at literally every aspect of basketball than NIS caner over was and I am realizing that I’m making a comparison between two of the most famous Turkish players in basketball I okay we’re gon to push past that because look here’s the deal Albert and shangin is a very good player but he’s going to get paid a lot of money and when you consider that with all the money the Knicks have to pay with OG getting paid now with male Bridges Josh Hart Dante D venzo all having extensions due in 2026 by the way so would Mitchell Robinson if he were still on the team after this Julius Randall and Jaylen Brunson due for extensions very soon next year both of them could become unrestricted free agents now it’s highly highly highly unlikely that Bronson will even ever hit free agency he’s comfortable with the Knicks he said multiple times that it’s his family here they’re good he’s the best player on on a team that’s great brunson’s not going anywhere he might literally take a massive pay cut to stay with the New York Knicks it’s not that I’m worried about one of them leaving I could see Julius getting traded as CP the franchise franchise mentioned when he was breaking that Carl Anthony Town story the Knicks like going five out Shang goon similar to towns can do that not as well as towns but Shang gun’s better at a lot of aspects of basketball than towns and towns is better at some other ones they’re pretty close when you want to compare the two um when it comes to like Talent level but also again it doesn’t fit the tibs mold at the same time if you have OG on anobi guarding big men then at the I guess you’re going to have to move Randall so you can have D venzo in that starting lineup and run a smaller team because like Randall’s due for that extension we know brunson’s a lock to get it they haven’t given Randall one as the franchise mentioned maybe they are looking to trade Julius now the thing is you can’t really trade Julius in a trade to the Rockets if you’re making a move for Alper and Shang gun unless you add some other contracts in there from Houston then this becomes a much bigger trade that’s more of a Julius Randall deal than a Shang gun deal if you ask me because this is Shang gun’s contract next year he’ll be making a little over5 million ion he’s in the final year of his rookie deal and then boom restricted free agency extension time that is worrisome if you’re the New York Knicks and you’re looking at ways to save some money when you’re going to have to evidently pay Alper and shenon a good amount of money to stay basically with the team because he’s going to get paid by someone now again that’s restricted so you don’t have to worry about him just walking but you do have to worry about evidently one way or another you’re going to have to pay Shang Kun a lot of money do the Knicks really want to do that and maybe you do and that’s a fine answer the man’s 21 years old he’s going to get better maybe under Tom Tibido and aella Harrington his defense flourishes maybe the Nick sees something that no one else does with him defensively the way they saw something with Brunson that no one else did it wouldn’t be the craziest thought out there and then also you get a phenomenal offensive Center who could really help you win a title if you want to go that way but I like the way that Mitchell Robinson Max matches up with people and I saw this in the comments on the last shanken video I did when you look at things we’re looking for a backup center we’re not looking for a starting center what are what the hell is getting traded next because you trade for shenon he’s probably not coming off the bench that would he’s not coming off the bench dude like he’s too good for that everyone knows it he’s way too good of a player to be a bench player like I mean yeah it would make the Knicks have the best bench in the NBA but I don’t know how happy Shang gun would be backing up Mitchell Robinson and being as good of insurance as anyone because I think if you ask most people they’re going to say Shang is a better player than Mitch now Mitch is a better Defender and you might argue that the Knicks need that more as of right now so having Julius an All-Star player because how he plays on offense having Jaylen Brunson a superstar because how he plays on offense mies with male Bridges one of the best two-way players in basketball and OG on anobi one of the best two-way players in basketball and one of the maybe the best on ball defender in the NBA the defense is so good do you want to screw with that when you have Brunson and Randall now that means if you’re Trading shenon you are trading Julius Randall and then Dante goes back to the starting five OG goes to the four Mel to the three and shenon is your starting center that means Mitchell Robinson’s also getting moved what are going to happen with these moves Mitch has a lot of value Julius Randall has a ton of value because his contract expiring and he’s an all NBA player you look at these deals it makes you very curious to see what is going to happen next cuz there’s just got to be an next now as we know Mark Burman also reported about this as he mentioned Leon Rose was in the front row of the presser yesterday with Mel’s mom he didn’t talk but he’s still cooking according to Burman he wants to make a big Center move after Philly both added Andre Drummond and Paul George along with making that Cody Martin signing and Burman heard that Houston’s shenon has been on the radar and then also mentioned Jaylen Duren I did a whole video on that so we’re not really going to go with the Jaylen Duren stuff but when it comes to contracts at this stage according to Danny Laro who is the Athletics salary cap guy the man knows everything about the salary cap he said this case it or at this stage it’s unlikely that either Shang gun or Jaylen green receive Max rookie extensions both are eligible up to separate five-year deals worth $224 million that’s a lot of money and do we really think the Knicks are going to be willing to pay all that it means you’re moving Randall it means you’re moving Mitchell Robinson that is what a shanon trade means there’s no way you keep them both Randall and shenon don’t fit unless you’re playing shenon at the four for some reason and nah that would Mitch it can’t work he doesn’t shoot enough threes he doesn’t shoot him at a high enough percentage to make that work you’re trading both of them F shenon that’s what happens now you’re gonna get value back because they’re probably not both going to Houston Randall might and then let’s see what else Houston throws in I mean you can use Stephen Adams as cap space but you need something great for Julius or you need some draft picks so the Knicks can use those draft picks then use Mitchell Robinson’s contract and flip it for another star and also that’s a really good idea actually now it’s it’s kind of some 2K stuff but that actually is a really good idea I’m I’m like realizing this in my head now that’s a good idea I will say that I’ll I’ll say I just might have talked myself into something but as we know this is Shang gun’s money so it would have to be some weird salary cap stuff and I kind of cooked up a trade right here that doesn’t involve any of that because I literally thought of that while filming this as you just saw this trade does work financially shangu for Duce McBride Jericho Sims a first round pick because he’s going to cost that let’s be honest then ex have six firsts to still work with and also a second rounder now I use that Detroit first rounder because it’s not the most valuable first round pick and Shang gun after also getting Duce McBride it’s not worth that and then a second rounder just to give them what they want because they’re probably asking for two or more firsts for Shang gun for the most part with a trade like that you might need to add a second maybe not but look yeah the Knicks would have to make a ton of subsequent moves if they move Shang they’re going to have to go for both they’re going to have to get both Randall and Mitch traded they’d get substantial value back for that as I’m learning while making this video when I think about it but at the same time it’s risky I like the team the Knicks have now I think the better move is to just keep the band together clearly it was working in January clearly this team could work well you need a backup for Mitchell Robinson in case he does get hurt I like Jericho Sims don’t get me wrong I can’t wait to see what Ariel hpy has but he’s on a two-way you need to find another backup center you can rely on to start games in the playoffs if Mitch goes down I think they’ll do that via trade I think it’s going to be Nick Richards or they’re just going to bring back precious aoua and hey for the fun of it prous puts up seven and a half points six and a half rebounds with one assist and also shoots 50% from the field solid player good defensive box plus minus and VI over replacement player because he is kind of efficient in the chaos that he plays basketball it’s efficient chaos they could go with that he’s
