[Stein] “…while various teams have explored Ingram trades since the offseason began in earnest, no other team willing to sign the 26-year-old at those numbers (4-years, $210 million) has yet emerged … with league sources saying that Ingram’s camp has also joined the efforts to find one.”

I understand it, and I know it doesn’t happen much if at all anymore; but it does bum me out to a degree that Ingram wants that extra 10ish mil a year so badly that he’d go anywhere else for it.

We have a chance to build a contender here, especially if BI took something closer to 40, but he’d rather max out and be somewhere that sucks.

Like I said, I get it, it’s just unfortunate.

With this info that BI’s camp is getting more involved now, it is apparent that he’s concerned with getting his money more than he is about winning.

I’m not opposed to him staying, especially on a more affordable contract, but if this is where he and his camp’s heads are at then I’m much more warmed up to a departure. Like I enjoyed his time here & we got some good moments, but it seems that we’re heading towards BI leaving probably between now and next summer.

My only hope is that if he is on the roster when the season starts, he better be locked the fuck in.

If he didn’t default to cooking in the iso and shot more threes, he’d have easily gotten that contract and probably wouldn’t be on the block.

His preferred style of play is so difficult to maximize and build around; it’s the DeRozan paradox.

Trade him at the deadline or just let him walk and free up the cap space. Don’t take back any shitty contracts with a pick attached just for the sake of trading him.

  5. He’s a net negative at that price, we don’t need another ball dominant forward on this roster. Brother needs to understand he isn’t worth that kind of money to anyone…

I don’t think BI is worth the money right now and believe his worth is more in the 40-45 range, but it is crazy the implications of the first and second apron. In the past, teams would’ve 1000% lined up to give a 26 year old wing with a ton of talent and stats a max deal… I think this is going to be the norm going forward for the players that are outside that top 25 threshold.

One thing I do want to point out is that this is not BI putting money before the franchise or turning his back on the team. It’s the agents job to get the most money possible. We don’t know what will happen or what is happening behind closed doors. This could be a last ditch effort or negotiating tactic to get a max deal before settling for something more team friendly.

LeBron makes 50 mil a year and BI thinks he is worth 52.5 a year.

I’m in favor of his camp finding out exactly what his market is or isn’t so we can come to an agreement on an extension and move on.

Put a 35m a year deal on the table for him and say if your team can find someone who promises to re-sign you for higher than that we’ll trade you there

He’s not a supermax player. Only a bad team would be willing to pay him 50 million per year.

I like Ingram but we need a center and he is the best option we have to trade for one

If he went FA next season, how much max money he can get? if he is All-NBA and not?

  12. this reminds me of homeowners who keep switching real estate agents because their house isn’t selling. No, it’s not the agenct, it’s just not worth the money you’re asking.

  13. bjbigplayer

BI needs to stay and bet on himself if he wants a max deal. Otherwise he should sign a 2 year $75 million deal with a player option extension. If he has another bad year or pops an Achilles without that he’s gonna be getting peanuts the rest of his career
