[Smith] VERY early 2025 NBA cap space projections: 1. Brooklyn Nets: $49.5M | 2. Houston Rockets: $30.6M | 3. Washington Wizards: $25.2M | 4. Utah Jazz: $23.9M (w/o Markkanen) | 5. San Antonio Spurs: $23.2M | Despite the 10% cap jump, that’s it. A lot can and will change over the next year.

    There’s nobody really good available in the class. Our best bet is someone like Ingram.

    Rockets will extend one or two of their guys and that $30.6m number will inevitably go down.

    There’s a DeMarre Carrol type (high character veteran, but bloated deal) out there. I’m happy to rent out the $49.5m if there is draft compensation attached.

  3. We’re better off just absorbing bad deals to help teams escape the aprons and get assets back. No reason to spend on mid players just to be mid. No need to rush the process

    Notable 2025 free agents include

    * Lauri Markkanen (Assuming no trade/extension)
    * Brandon Ingram (Assuming no trade/extension)
    * Jimmy Butler (Player Option)
    * Fred VanVleet (Team Option)
    * Ben Simmons
    * Chris Paul
    * Al Horford
    * Tre Jones
    * Alex Caruso

    Free agency is becoming antiquated thus we should just get bad contracts for assets
