Clippers Expert Justin Russo Gives The Scoop On New Sun Mason Plumlee
Justin uh the Suns added Mason plumbley I know Clippers fans were not as excited about his season last year what did you see from Mason plumbley last I think Mason season’s a tale of two different seasons uh he was a different player before he got his knee before he got his knee rolled up on by Julius Randle in New York you know completely inadvertent but changed the course of his season I think he rushed back after that and wasn’t really the same athletically um but you know if he’s healthy I do think that there’s athleticism I do think there’s uh secondary playmaking he can get out of elbow sets and stuff like that and he is a solid rebounder for a size not the rim protector he used to be but you know he still competes on that end much better and much more comfortable uh at the level of the screen than playing drop but no you’re getting you’re getting sorry you’re getting a veteran big and you know it’s what you expect I wanted to ask you about second tax taper stuff obviously the Clippers it’s not the only reason why Paul George and cers parted ways but it was a factor Sun’s kind of Other Extreme diving straight head versus what’s your read on kind of how it’s affecting different teams in that Contender status yeah I think the second apron’s made it difficult for teams to continue building and I don’t think I think it’s why the Clippers weren’t broken up about about PG leaving I think it they were accepted it and I think it allowed them other avenues to improve and um now they can aggregate salaries And Trades now they can send cash which they couldn’t do if they were over the second apron uh they’re now hard capped at the first apron but you know they’re going to be a tax team most likely but they just they want to limit the ramifications and the damages of the aprons and the second a is changing everything you know like you said the suns are going full bore into it and I actually applaud them for it we’ll see what happens next year they’ll probably have to you know make a decision but you make that decision when you have to get there
