Jordan Hawkins on Game 1 vs. Timberwolves | 2024 NBA Summer League Postgame

uh what was it like just getting back out there second year in summer league just kind of adjusting compared to where you were this time last year uh I mean it was fun I’m definitely still learning I’m still a young player uh so uh I definitely try to take a more of a playmaking role this year uh try to get my guys more involved trying to initiate the offense uh trying to be more assertive on the defense end I’m I’m just I’m going shoot the ball I don’t care if I miss or make it so that’s never going to deter my confidence so especially during summer league so I’m going continue shooting the ball uh try to take some better shots next game I think I force some shots uh try to force it the hole try to get try to get him my pullup more uh mid-range game floater uh or even get the kick off so yeah was that the big Focus this summer kind of rounding out your game defense playmaking all that kind of stuff absolutely coming a more complete player I mean I know the jump shots there so I’m not really really worried about the numbers or what what I shot I really don’t care so uh just worry about stuff like that yeah you mentioned the playmaking part of it what I don’t know if this was by Design but seem like you and Eve the first three or four possessions you had some kind of two-man game stuff what did you think about that absolutely I’m definitely trying to learn how to play with him uh you know he’s he’s he’s a new player I think he just think he just started playing basketball like 3 years ago so he’s definitely still learning I’m trying to teach him uh cuz he’s a freak athlete I’m just telling him every time just me and you can play I throw the live now I don’t have the high live I have a shot for myself but they’re going to have to commit to me soon L sooner or later so we got that me and Carlo got that earlier in the game so I was just explaining that to him so yeah how did you deal with some of the physicality that you were facing out there cuz I mean it was tough they were on you like paint yeah I mean I expected that though I love the physicality I mean um I love playing physical I knew it was going to come um probably I slow down a little bit more next game uh watch the film on it I think I was a little sped up but it’s my first time playing in uh organized basketball in a while so um I just think got some rust out um be ready for next game so and there was the one where you got the tech and then you and a miles over there talking for a minute what’s like working with him you know so far this summer I got a chance to meet a miles last year he was new to the team um me and him been pretty close ever since ever since he’s doing the team I was working about him working out with him earlier in my rookie year when I got there um him and Brew um so me and a miles built a connection throughout the year and I appreciate everything he does he really he tells me the real um and yeah in dealing with that physicality how much are you working on your body and just getting stronger I’m working on my body a lot you know um that’s that’s uh not just for the physicality for the defense end as well just trying to hold my own on the defense end I mean guys in the NBA they’re strong um they’re grown men grown men strength um so yeah

  1. Dude you are 22 you are not a young player. I am a little worried after hearing him make that excuse. I dare anybody to look at video of last year and now and say he doesn't look even smaller on and off the court.
