Zach Ed is shocking everyone right now after just one summer league performance and at the moment a lot of people are overlooking this Memphis crule team after all the injuries and suspensions that went on last season but with their Core Group the roster that they had was going top the Western conferences a couple of seasons ago and some of the younger guys that are now coming to the roster this team is getting overlooked and with Zach Edy just in one game really turning heads in terms of his Mobility as a seven-footer because again that was the question mark we know how talented he was on the colle basketball circuit but with Zack E’s highlighted performance some of the young guys that they have blossoming and just the core group that they had we’re going to break down in this video how the Memphis Grizzlies are a team that should still be faed in the Western Conference but Jack let’s dive into it because frankly people might not have noticed might not have got a good look but Zach EDI in his first game had 14 points 15 rebounds four blocks for the Memphis Grizzlies and a game tying shu to put the game into overtime and before we dive into how he can impact the Memphis grizzli how things could really look how are you feeling about what you saw from Zack e in that first Summer League game I was really impressed cuz I’d seen a little bit of him from college specifically when he was going through that that uh that that big run in the NCAA Championship but I thought I know the big narrative around Ed was that he’s really slow obviously super dominant from a size perspective but he looked quick in that in that the highlights from the the summer league game so I was really impressed obviously stat speak for themselves yeah exactly he’s putting up the numbers like we knew he would but the thing you’re really looking for and the reason we’re making this video just through kind of one game is the fact that he’s running the court out there in these highlights like I don’t Prime Pascal yeah no not nothing like that but getting down the floor moving fast he’s looking like he’s he’s always been in good shape but you know as a 740 you got to be kind of mobile to save from injuries and he is dealing with some ankle stuff here right now but he is looking like a player again four blocks in that game he he had four physical blocks but a lot of moments just watch it people are afraid to kind of Drive In on him and he did it against a really stacked summer leite team in the Utah Jazz have filipowski that have Walker Kessler two legitimate big men you know out there in the NBA obviously filipowski is a rookie but Walker Kessler a dude that really is uh you know I’m surprised he’s still playing in summer league even though he had a bit of a Down year in terms of development last year but did it against in some impressive competition but this Memphis Grizzlies team right with Zach Edy getting inserted there obviously he’s not going to be like an All-Star or something crazy like that off the bat but as a seven-footer that’s going to be able to score be a deterent at The Rim that’s kind of exactly what they’ve needed since St Adams went down with injury they delt him away they’ve had a little bit of a hole at that five position obviously jiren Jackson Jr better at the four but we can take a look at sort of what their uh what their roster is looking like here now going into next season and obviously John Mor’s there jiren Jackson Jr right Marcus Smart uh lcard free agent so we’ll see if he ends up coming back they also have Desmond Bane they have a lot of dudes on this roster with Zach Ed getting in certain to play how you feeling about how this Memphis Grizzlies roster is looking with you know an ed getting added to that mix I’m really optimistic I know we’ve talked about a lot of teams before the West is stacked but I think we for at least I personally forgot about the Grizzlies considering all the John Mor injuries and Desmond Bane which injured last year as well too but I think this roster is stacked from an offensive standpoint and if Ed like just from his size alone I think he can be a presence on the defense EV ENT they have smart as well too Jared Jackson this is a I think on both ends of the floor this is going to be a sleeper team that I think can come in and be a top team in the west yeah without a doubt I mean when you have a start and people forget this because johnar was out but johnar is a legitimate star in this NBA dare I say Superstar when he’s out there on the court consistent obviously more goes into actually being a superstar but 25 points six rebounds per night for a 62 guard which is kind of crazy eight assist you know the three-point percentage isn’t crazy high last season again a smaller sample size in terms of games last year but still only 24 years old right people are writing off johnar like he’s some you know giving the injuries giving the off Port stuff feels like he’s been around for a while he is only 24 years old will be 25 next season so he hasn’t even started the prime of his career and again so offensively they’re going to be great but then you have a front line with jiren Jackson Jr out there who last season 23 points per game 5.5 rebounds two assists two 1.6 blocks able to knock down the three ball as well you look at that front line as a guy that’s you know a defensive player the year caliber guy in jiren Jackson Jr and then a Zack Ed right who if we take a look at his stats you know out there during the college fair this dude was a monster you know four perue you know throughout those last season two time you know National Player of the Year you know that front line defensively is just going to be a lot to really deal with you know for opposing offenses trying to come in and score on this Memphis Grizzlies team in the paint Y no I completely agree Ben I think Edie he had obviously the one thing I think about with the college players is Ed’s gonna come in ready to play I think sometimes when you see the oneone guys it takes them a little bit of time to ramp up but e had four years in college he’s going to come in he’s going to be a real threat both on the offensive end and the defensive end and then those physical attributes it’s crazy I didn’t realize he was 74 so that’s that’s shocking so he’s he’s a big guy yeah 74 and like again the mobility was the thing in college the lack of floor space in the modern NBA would it really fit but again you can take a look at his stats here right 25 and 12 just in the in the regular season last year for NCAA basketball that’s ridiculous so you have that front line as you mentioned right that size with jiren Jackson You’re now able to be that help Defender getting in less foul trouble cuz Ed can actually take those bangs and bumps down low and then on the wings as well you have a Desmond Bane out here obviously offensively is a bucket right 24 points per game double some injuries himself last season 4.4 rebounds 5.5 assists you know shoots 38% from the three-point line all of that type of stuff and then on top of it a Marcus Smart who again is another defense a Player of the Year caliber player a guy that’s dealt with some injuries again as Memphis G Lees everything is kind of prefaced with you know there are some injuries here there’s this concern there’s that concern but if this team is healthy Jack or you know on the court you know no off the court sort of shenanigans nothing sort of taking players out of the lineup if we have that starting unit of John morand Desmond bane of you know front line or I guess desm B probably push three Smart’s going to want to start on that roster and then you know Jared Jackson juder Edy out there in lineups again this might not be the de facto starting lineup especially at the start of the Year rookies GG Jackson’s also a guy that has to be mentioned as a guy that’s going to get some run you have some different players of this Grizzlies roster but if they have this team healthy ready to go locked in this team was a top the Western Conference or multiple Seasons obviously trade away Dylan Brooks after that catastrophe against the LA Lakers dealt with injuries and stuff last year is it hard to see this Memphis Grizzlies team getting back to that point with how loaded the western conference is you know right now going to next year I think it’s very possible I mean just a few years ago the Grizzlies were a top three team in the west so I think considering and honestly even if one of the guys were to get injured they have so many pieces now that I could see them being able to hold a playoff spot for a few for like a 10 stretch game if someone was to get injured like a Desmond Bane or johnar and honestly this team I think they have what it takes to be a top four team in the west and they could make depending on how they they mesh together throughout the season they could make a playoff run as well too so I’m super optimistic and I think this an exciting team yeah I think I think it’d be foolish not to consider the Grizzlies as a playoff Contender you know I mean into that mix the real question is as you mentioned top four because right they have that roster we kind of ran through a jaw smart you know we’ll see what happens with Canard Brandon Clark ought to come back be healthy you know Canadian guy love love the hustle and energy there uh for this group but regardless of how this lineup looks and stuff the West is just going to be loaded the nuggets the Dallas Mavericks the Spurs are on their way up as we’ve brought in multiple videos about at this point the Oklahoma City Thunder just got a lot better with Isaiah hardenstein as well as Alex guso and kept all their draft picks extremely young team that’s developing out there you know the Pelicans just picked up Deonte Murray there are a ton of teams in this West the Clippers are probably falling down a little bit with the departure of Paul George but a ton of teams with a lot of talent in this roster I want a hard prediction Jack Grizzlies top four seed yes no in the next season kings are also a team picked up to Mar Rose and this the Western conf loaded you know I’m bet I’m I’m gonna say yes especially after I saw that Zach game I think yes they can do it because I believe they’ve become extremely underrated I think in the regular season John Mor just plays so well not to say he doesn’t play well in the playoffs but I think a lot of the Grizzlies players have also gotten a lot of practice too and got gotten a lot of chance to shine because of John Mor being injured then also Desmond Bane so I think a lot of players in the on the grizzle got a lot better last season and I think they’re all gonna bring that together this’s your top four who’s who’s getting knocked out of that we got the nuggets in a in nuggets in nuggets in nuggets I think nuggets are great Mavericks in out I think Mavericks Fallout they’re still be I think they’ll be fifth or six I think they fall out of top four though okay okay more playoff threat less of a regular season threat more those could be a playoff threat for sure a team that went over my mind the Minnesota Timberwolves they’re I think they’ll be they’re really good regular season team they’ve obviously shown that I think they’ll replicate it next year so I would personally put them in in the top four that’s three so you’re knocking OKC okay no Dallas is out OKC in OKC yeah I putc yeah I would throw that’s your four that’s your four yep Grizzlies Grizzly no no particular order Grizzlies nuggets Thunder and Timberwolves that’s top four four in the west okay no Spurs no Mavericks it’s good it’s tough I think Spurs and Mavericks could be five and six but it’s so hard to you’re right the more we talk about this like this western conference is stacked at the top like eight or 10 teams so but I I’ll stick with that top four and the Sacramento Kings man don’t sleep on Sacramento they got they go with dear added there I know they’re not going to play a ton of Defense but that is going to be one of the greatest offenses at well if fox has played at that level it’s a bonus Keegan Murray still developing there that western conference is going to be loaded the Houston Rockets are another team that were hot to close out last season shout out Fred Van vet every Raptors fan favorite player but we’ll see how it all shakes out in the San Antonio Spurs definitely can’t take them lightly we’ll see how it all plays out I’d probably I I’d be a bit safer than newj I need to see that full out I guess if they’re healthy but that’s the big question but I’m going to say not in top four and that’s really the question mark with the Memphis but that’s fair jaw Bane jiren Jackson J Ed if he’s playing like this Marcus Smart this team can definitely be good but we want to hear what you guys think in the
