He is SHOCKING Everyone…

he is shocking everyone why Jeff dton may be opening up some eyes in summer league Nick nurse is taking a hard look at the sixer summer league roster loaded with talents such as ad demm Bona a guy like Ricky Council the fourth who is absolutely shy here and plenty of other talel that is deep on this Sixers roster but GIF outon has been a storyline that I do want to dive into that I think is an interesting twist for this Sixers team now let’s not forget that Jeff dton has this relationship with Nick Nur dating back from their time in Toronto and now when you look at D he’s not a guy that particularly shines in his stat sheets taking a a look at what he’s produced on the court it isn’t something that’s going to pop to your eyes but he is a guy that is just a really solid player he knows how to play basketball that you can trust him in situations to just make the right read make the right decisions I do think that’s what stands out to Nick narse in his eyes now when looking at summer league and the impact that he’s made he has stood out in a statistical standpoint in a way that we have not seen at the NBA level when looking at his stats from yesterday you can see the production here we’re talking about 8 points uh eight 18 points eight assists five rebounds there a guy who’s done it in a lot of ways here and this is with some stiff competition on the sixer summer league team we’re talking about guys like Romeo Langford RJ Hampton Jared McCain Ricky coun the fourth Justin Edwards there’s a lot of Talent on this team compared to the average NBA Summer League team and obviously we’re seeing the production that just yesterday they did take down the Detroit Pistons in the opening matchup here in Las Vegas out here staying taking things in in person so had a chance to take this game in also got a chance to talk to Jared McCain following the game so stay posted for that video dropping tomorrow but as far as what Jeff dton brings his team in the short term I do think it is interesting to note now when think about the whole picture for how he came to Philadelphia I know I mentioned the Nick nurse connection when looking at the Sixers team there’s a lot of guard competition already we obviously know about Tyrese Maxi we know the commitment to Jared McCain that was drafted with the 16th pick there we know about Kyle Lowry who’s been brought back to this team but there still is some space on this roster now when you think about Jeff situation specifically it’s interesting to me because they already declined his player option that he did have or team option I’m sorry so he had the option on the table the Sixers already declined that and the reason that that was surprising is because there was still plenty of time until they had to make that decision now this could have been out of respect to doubt if they did want to open things up for a better opportunity for more playing time the agent thought they could get a couple Nibbles from other NBA teams there what particularly interesting to me is they still brought him back on the summer league team so it feels like they’re giving this guy a legitimate look a chance to earn a roster spot and I do think that relationship with Nick nurse does mean a lot there now one thing about why he’s on this team why it’s shocking to me is because of Jared McCain that you would think from an organizational standpoint this Sixers team would be do everything to give this guy a chance to earn and play through his mistakes that meaning Jared McCain there give him that opportunity to learn at the NBA level the fact that Jeff Dalton is on this roster to me spells that they are actually giving this guy a roster look now there are bigger needs on the sixer team there’s no doubt about it there still needs to be a true power forward there still needs to be some rebounding help even the conversation about some more wings I think would be a good add to this roster but they’ve been short on ball handlers for quite some time and when mentioning just little a high quality player that dton can be just a guy that you know is going to make the right decision can still knock the ball down at an adequate level there that’s a worthwhile player to have within the roster so I do understand the mindset from the six years team and I also do like that they’re leaning in a little bit of this blend of both young guys and veterans that obviously we see both ends of the spectrum a young guy like Jared McCain here and then playing right behind him a super veteran and Kyle Lowry who’s in his 19th NBA season heading into this year so you can see how things that there are now Jeff D’s a little bit of that middle ground that would be an interesting addition there and when think about the Sixers team and how things fill out you’re going to need those just in eater type players that are going to have opportunities to just have those short-handed games so we know the Sixers team injuries are going to pop up throughout the season so k doubt be a guy that steps in and fills minutes for the Sixers team he is a guy that understands the Nick n system same with Kyle Lowry there so I do think there’s a little bit to that so my honest expectation is at this point unless a better player comes along to fill out the bottom of the roster there’s still about four roster spots available for this Sixers team I think it’s trending towards Jeff down grabbing one of those spots now when looking at this summer league team as a whole and let’s jump into those stats from yesterday once again there’s plenty of talent Ricky Council the fourth to me has been one of the biggest takeaways that he is fitting onto that to good for summer league label and that’s a great sign for a guy heading into his second year we know this story with Ricky counts the fourth of him going undrafted he’s been a guy who shined at the g-league level and he looks ready to make a real impact in this Sixers rotation this guy who his commitment his determination there’s like an effort level that he plays with which is just really infectious to a team you can see the way that everyone on this 615 has referred to him as the battery pack of their summer league roster so that is a guy who we’re seeing take these next next steps and a guy that I think has leaped from a fun intriguing young player to a guy that is ready to contribute to this Sixers team so for Rickie Council the fourth I think he has been the biggest winner of Summer League so far and there’s other guys that have made their case as well keeve Aluma standing out yesterday 19 points eight rebounds there he looks like he has that inside track on that third available available two-way spot we only saw 14 minutes from Justin Edwards yesterday who’s a guy who could be a potential steal for the Sixers team a former top five recruit who didn’t quite find his traction at Kentucky we’re seeing his just confidence grow throughout the summer league I’m surprised he did not get more of an opportunity but it does feel like he’s growing confidence in attacking the rim creating for others he’s a very toolsy player that has the pieces and is beginning to put it together a Dem bone is a guy who also has shine that in the statistical standpoint we’re talking about eight points seven rebounds five blocks yesterday this is the second time in summer league that he has had five blocks in a game and that is just nuts and what stands out specifically about bone is he’s a guy that his work rate is just off the charts he really does not have an off button that there was a play yesterday in yesterday’s game where he had a bad turnover at the top of the three-point line led to a direct open layup fast break down the other end he ran in complete high gear to track him down and while he did not get there for the block that type of full scale pedal to the metal effort level is something that is great to have on a team and he’s naturally going to get these comparisons to a guy like Paul Reed what I like about bonus specifically in comparison is he plays within himself a much more comfortable way Paul Reed always had like this instinct to want to dribble between legs and cook a little bit more than he should bone is a guy who keeps the meat and potatoes of his game that he sets screens he catches lives and he blocks shots and he can do a little bit more than that as well so that was another excellent addition in the second round there so another player that I do think is expected to get his standard NBA contract that has not officially been signed on the dotted line yet but every report is indicating that that will be the case so we’re seeing the way that the Sixers team is adding this next generation of young talent and Jeff dton could also be a guy that is fitting into that equation there that he could be a player that is a leader of this young pack when you think about the second unit or this growing Next Generation I only D will be a feature piece he could absolutely be a tone Setter for this Sixers team and a guy that can contribute in both the short term in the minutes where it’s necessary and kind of leading and growing these next players so for dton while he may not be a guy that skyrockets is a favorite player or what is a dude that is making a notable difference from night to night basis I do think you see playter who could end up being very important to this Sixers organization so we’ll be interesting to see throughout the rest of Summer League still a handful more games for the Sixers team to play they will be back in Action tomorrow against the Portland Trailblazers and the other interesting note with with d specifically here is he wasn’t even expected to be at the summer league that initially it was just for Salt Lake City and then that was it they extended it and gave an opportunity to travel to Las Vegas which once again is an indication to me that there is a real look at seeing what this guy can do and provide to the Sixers team so we will see how things shape out from here but I’m excited for what Jeff D could mean to the Sixers team and what he can truly put on the table we will see if he continues to be the leader for the Sixers team the way it has been in summer league but it’ll be interesting to see from here so appreciate all you guys
