I know it’s still supposed to be in the mid 90s but that’s more that’s much more tolerable than a 108 it’s cooling down at night it was nice and cool when I got here this morning uh it was just fantastic the weather probably a little bit different where James is James uh live on location in Cabo doing some deep International scouting down there James what’s up man well there is this kid at the Carl Jr in the airport in Cabo that is legit 610 yeah legit 610 you sent me a photo and I was I was certain it was maybe a weird angle or he was on a like step stool or something nope just my man has to like he has to get a deep knee Bend to get down to the register like even if even if he was like on a box or something I don’t know if they’re elevated the ladies next to him literally don’t come up to his like elbow like he’s a tremendously huge human being so yes I am in C again uh I am here celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary which is later this week that’s AIG and I wasn’t supposed to be here all week but it just kind of worked out that way where I got extended and uh now I’m here I’m here and Kyle is there yeah man um so we’ll do uh we’ll have some fun uh with uh with you down in uh in Cabo I might need a Cabo report every day just about what’s going on what the vibe is I know you got some breakfast this morning morning uh and I can’t wait to hear about it uh but we’ll have uh we’ll have that we’ve got a t ton of King summer league action to get into Mon McNair uh spoke today well I guess probably not today but uh spoke today and we’ll talk about some of that and some of the Fallout of uh of what he had to say and of course Team USA is playing against Australia right now as well have some Team USA takeaways as well as we enter the MLB allstar break which is that period of the calendar that every Sports Talk r radio host dreads every every Sports Talk radio host who’s worth their salt does what James is doing right now and they leave for this week they get out they Circle the All-Star break and they go hey there’s nothing going on it’s a little bit different this year because because of the Olympics and the the tuneup games for for Team USA Basketball men’s basketball we have some some summer league action like I said but uh not a ton going on in the sports world but we do have a m very minor announcement um regarding regarding myself um if you’re not doing anything Friday night uh would love to see you out at uh at Suter health park for the rivercats game because not only will your boy be an attendance hanging out and uh eating some good food drinking some good beer and having a great time at a rivercats game uh I will also be throwing out the first pitch which is a lifelong dream of mine and I’m not even kidding ever first time I went to a baseball game I don’t know I was nine years old 10 years old however old I was it was like I want to do that that guy doing the the first pitch or that lady doing the first pitch whoever it was I want to do that and now I get a chance to on Friday and it will either be James a high point of my life where um the baseball Acumen that I acquired over over six seven years of playing year round in tournaments and high school and all that uh is still there or I’ve lost it entirely and I make a fool of myself in uh in front of everybody at stter health park so uh come find out and uh be out there on the 19th when uh when ESPN 1320 and myself will be out there hanging out at stter health park can’t wait are you gonna are you gonna lob it in there are you gonna like give him the give him the cheese like what what’s your plan here I want to know because because I hope that I get this opportunity as well there’s a possibility that I too will get to do this and uh and again I I would love to do this uh we’ll see if my arm falls off it when I go to throw with the shoulder impingment but uh but like you got to hurl it right yeah so this is this is where so I T so I have a buddy who works for the San Francisco Giants okay and I told him that this is going on and I said how do I handle this do I go full-blown like step up on the like look back at second check first and he’s like no you don’t want to take it too serious because you’re not the main character nobody’s there to see you oh all right fair enough that no no no and he’s right he’s right he’s right maybe people will pull up hopefully some people pull up just to just to see me do that but um it’s not the point of the game right so I think there’s a happy medium because I’m not I don’t want to lob it I don’t want to throw an eus pitch right yeah but I’m also not going to throw it as hard as I can a because that will hurt my body and I don’t want that b the harder I throw it the more likely I am to either spike it or send it into the left-handed batters box or something bad throw it over everything like hit the bull you know uh so I think I’m just gonna like a nice easy toss I’m not not going to go full-blown like you know slurve yeah no no no movement no two seam no curveball nothing weird if I was if this was closer to me having played baseball like competitively I I might be more apt to try and do something funny like that or something weird like that but my main priority is throwing it over the plate I know it’s funnier when it’s bad yeah but there’s too much pride on the line for me to to not want to throw a strike you’re at least gonna like bring your your glove right yeah yeah I think I I think so uh I’m hoping to get to talk to somebody beforehand yeah uh maybe do a little bit of scouting on what other people do in these situations my my instinct says bring glove though I think that I think that’s right especially if I get a chance to to throw a little bit beforehand to warm up some um I I’ll need that so yeah we’ll uh we’ll see before I went to the A’s game on July 4th uh I got to throw the ball around with with a couple of buddies uh Wade and Nate and uh salute to them for indulging me wanting to throw a baseball uh but it went it went well it went better than I was expecting so I’m uh my confidence is high go going into Friday but but we’ll see once I’m out there and I’m actually like on the field how how I feel about it I feel like you’re gonna do the uh the open jersey look like that is dude you know me so well that is a thousand per my plan the open jersey look is what Kyle’s going with yeah yeah yeah I’ll just go t-shirt under you know little rivercat Jersey I’ll have a I’ll probably buy a new hat to be honest I’m wearing a rivercats hat today one of finest caps in all the Major League Baseball it is the towerbridge baseball logo one of the very best and I’ve seen a lot of minor league baseball hats this one just goes so hard uh so I may wear this one but they have the 916 one that I that I think is great they have the Old School rivercat logo the RC logo they have the Paw logo there there’s a there kind of good hats there in the in the team store that I’m that I’m planning on snagging um but yeah open jersey look is going to be the vibe and I don’t know if I’ll have the option on this again I I haven’t gotten a ton of detail on the actual pitch itself but I don’t know if I’ll be able to throw from the mound or if I’ll have to go from in front of the mound if I’m in front of the mound bet the house I’m throwing a strike okay if I can’t if I can’t go on the mound if I have a choice I’ll go Mound but if I don’t have a choice they’re like yeah stand in front of the mount I’m throwing a strike that’s easy work that’s easy for me okay but throwing off a mound is different like that’s a different even if even if you’re just doing a small step like because where you really get going downhill right is when pitcher separate their hands and they and they extend their leg like they want to they want to get that width right where they’re really getting downhill to to get that momentum going towards the plate I’m not GNA be doing all that it’s going to be a small step forward so there’ll be a small uh a small decline when I throw it and that’s where the danger comes in because that’s not something I can really replicate I don’t think there’s a field near me that has built-in Mounds that I’m able to go practice on and I’m gonna practice don’t get it twisted I will be practicing oh yeah yeah if I get an opportunity to do this I’m like the boys one of them is going to be out in the front yard like out in the street like catching like nonstop like we’ll we’ll see we’ll see how many throws I got in my arm it’s pretty it’s pretty shot uh but you know I played I played baseball I played Little League I played 18 years of softball yeah yeah I can sling the ball a little bit we’ll see how it goes that’s been my biggest hangup with this is so I need to throw right but I’ve had elbow problems for forever like since I since I played and get really bad tightness on the inner part of my elbow like right right down in here right Tomy of surgery right yeah but it don’t have the tingling in the fingertips like I’ve I’ve checked all the symptoms and I don’t think it is uh but I get it when I golf when I bowl like it just this this part of my arm’s torched right so I’m I’m trying to find the happy medium of throwing before Friday but not throwing so much that on Friday my arm hurts and now I’m throw bad pitch because I tried so hard to not throw a b pitch so I’m in a tough spot dude I get this I’m I’m waffling on this all week I I didn’t expect us to burn the entire first segment on this but I’m all here for it yeah like yeah and no I I don’t think Kyle will wear a cell shirt I’m just gonna say I don’t think that will that will be I don’t think that’s that’s on brand for what we’re we’re trying to do here no it’s not but but when this first came up this was months back yeah when this first because at a radio station it works like any other job someone has an idea someone will say that idea whether it’s in a formal meeting or just kind of uh Charlie AR Bost is is awesome you can just walk up to him anytime be like hey idea and then he’ll come to you either later that day or the next day like yeah I followed up on that idea here’s where we’re at it’s awesome um but this came up like like a a while back and that was actually my first thought is I’ll go is I’ll go shirt over the cell shirt and then when I get out there I can take that shirt off and have the but that doesn’t doesn’t play that’s that’s a bad that’s a bad look for your boy so initially I thought you and I were going to go to the game together and sit there and eat and drink and I I don’t know maybe that’s what we will do like if I get an opportunity to do this I don’t know we’ll see yeah if you get to I’m pulling up if you’re doing this too at some point I’m pulling up I know you can’t come to mine and that’s fine I’m not going to begrudge you one bit I if I was in your shoes I would do the exact same thing but uh if if you’re doing this too at some point I will uh I will absolutely be there and hopefully Hopey everybody in the chat house will be there as well hopefully you listening will be there Friday at the rivercats game I will be throwing out the first pitch so make sure to get there early so you can see me either um show off my useless baseball throwing skills or uh make a total fool of myself happening outside I don’t think oh oh a little better like a pool at a resort there’s a pool and the ocean right there behind those palm trees and stuff hell yeah and now room service is calling oh my had three or four goals there I did not get sick from Mexico that should be noted Matthew I lost my voice I I don’t know where I got it but I had the strip so I know that’s gross but I got the strip your tickets uh now so you can uh you can come watch um King summer league opened on Friday and it didn’t go great Sacramento lost 10383 to the Grizzlies they what did they finish with 31 turnovers 31 uh they were they were looking at the record and like oh I don’t think that they’re going to get to the record I don’t think they’re going to get to the record and then boom boom boom boom three turnovers and run the final like 90 seconds oh that’s tough um and I think there’s nothing I don’t look here’s here’s where it’s if I don’t want to diminish what Las Vegas summer league is but the Kings having 31 turnovers in a in a summer league game doesn’t doesn’t move me that much um what does move me from that game although it’s a hilarious number like just objectively 31 turnovers is so many but there were two things two two things I took away from that game that that I that I think matter for for the kings in the in the regular season and maybe Beyond but Colby Jones through the California classic did not look great and then in his Vegas summer league debut he scores two points he grabs two rebounds and he goes 0 for four from the floor and 0 for three from Beyond The Arc and I again I’m not punting on Colby Jones but the longer this goes on where he’s not asserting himself in these like low-level exhibition games the the the worry increases every single time yeah I I would totally agree with you um this is a moment where a player doesn’t have to be just insanely good but if you’re a second-year player at Summer League or if you’re a fourth year player like uh like Mason Jones or if you’re like even uh going into your third whether it was with the the NBA team or not like Keon Ellis you need to show out right and that that could mean 12 points a game it could mean more 14 points a game but you have to show like the versatility and who you are as a player and if you can’t do that on this scale against guys who again this is not even g-league competition it’s not like the G league is a much higher level of competition than this this is uh the summer league has a bunch of players who will never even sniff the G league and so for me it’s always U like you don’t want to like Panic about a player especially after one uh one Las Vegas Summer League game but if you look at the California classic and sort of Colby Jones like performance there his inability to stand out at all really does make you worry about his ability to compete for minutes at an NBA level which the Kings might need and people need to realize he’s not on a two-way contract like Colby Jones is on his standard NBA contract he got a four-year deal uh the first two years are guaranteed I believe and what we’re seeing here at this point is it’s at least a little bit alarming and you would just want to you’re hoping that people behind the scenes are are giving giving him a push and saying all right man like this is the time and I’d also point out like I I think one of the the flaw to summer league is when you go into whether it’s Vegas or you go into uh the California classic and you don’t have a true point guard that really does set everybody else up for failure and so like the Jordan Fords of the world or um you know David Stockton used to be one of these guys like if you can bring in a solid veteran g-league point guard to run the show your team is just way better and and I don’t you know it’s it’s that calming influ inuences that ability to just kind of uh you know direct traffic and everything else uh I think with San Antonio always don’t they bring booer with them um and that’s something that the Kings don’t have in the summer league they’re trying to you know push guys into places where they’re not comfortable and that’s okay um you do want to see Keon Ellis handle the ball more you want to see Mason Jones and you want to see Colby Jones handle the ball more but at the end of the day in order to maximize a roster you really do need that guy who can sort of calm things down and and avoid 31 turnovers in a game yeah yeah uh that’s where I was hoping that we would see Colby Jones and we’ll talk about Keon Ellis in a second but that’s where like you said this is not even g-league level competition and yes Kobe Jones is not a true point guard so expecting him to just go out there and turn into Prime Chris Paul because he’s more talented than the players around him uh isn’t isn’t realistic but at the same time it’s just how passive he’s been and how timid he’s been that’s that’s the concerning part to me and I know that that’s not quantifiable and it’s just Vibes based and maybe he’s working on something with his game that he’s just not totally comfortable with or whatever and he gets to the preseason and he’s fine but right now it’s it was in the Cal classic and now it’s been it’s been here in the summer league that and just one game maybe goes out and dominates the next one and we feel better about it but to this point it’s just like we talked about with Tyrese halberton in the playoffs right where in those in those games in crunch time against the Knicks it was like he was passing the ball and then running away from from the action it was like my job is to distribute it to this guy and then I’m G to go over here and not be involved and that’s just kind of How It’s looked with Colby Jones and I’m I’m I’m hoping that like you said the coaching staff gets in his ear and is like dude you’re an NBA player go go be an NBA player and we see a more more assertive version of him but but right now he was a player that that I think I said last year like man I think he’s going to be in the rotation in 2024 and right now there’s just no realistic way that that’s that that’s gonna happen if he doesn’t start playing a lot better yeah he has time he has time and the other thing I would point out is that part of the problem is that again it Colby Jones could use somebody to set him up as well and so I think there there could come a point where um where Keon Ellis doesn’t play so especially with the Kings losing their first game it means you’re kind out for the championship um so that means that that at a certain point you should probably pull Keon from this as well like maybe give him one more game and then say okay like we’re gonna let Colby take over as like the main scoring Cog or or the main offensive initiator and and maybe that will help so it’s always possible that they just have like between Mason and Keon and and uh Colby they just have three guys that are too similar in what they’re trying to do and no one that can really establish himself as like the guy and and if any of them are the guy it’s Keon um just because he is like in the rotation whether he’s starting or he’s coming off the bench yeah um Keon seven points for boards six assists he went three of 10 from the field one of five from three that I’m less concerned about because if he goes if he goes two of five from three and he has 10 four and six on four of 10 that’s not that’s not we’re not even talking about it yeah so I’m not I’m not super concerned about about Keon just yet particularly because of how good he was at the end of the Cal classic yeah I think he gets one more game though I think he give him one more game of hey go be the dude go get go get some work as a as a ball handler as a playmaker and then get back in the gym and and focus on his what his role is going to be with the Kings this year which is not going to be that primary ball handler and uh and playmaker and it’s going to be more you know three and D type of win yeah yeah definitely um I I also like the 31 turnovers um I look seven guys had three or more turnovers and like look that turnovers can be like you can catch a case of the turnovers and you know I think that that’s something that we saw that that this group like sort of became contagious yeah um I wouldn’t worry about that either I mean Keon Ellis uh and Mason Jones each had five turnovers there wasn’t one guy with like nine turnovers um you know so it was pretty well distributed throughout the entire team where they just dropped a lot of balls like they they just looked like they weren’t ready uh for whatever reason to to you know like be engaged and and hold on to the ball and and play good basketball yeah and that’s what I’m that’s what I’m kind of watching tonight the Kings play the jazz tonight and that’s what I’m just are the guys that they’re expecting to potentially play in the NBA this year do they just look more ready to play and more ready to kind of take over over a game whether it’s kby Jones or Mason Jones or or Keon Ellis um do they just do they look more dialed in now that they’ve been in Las Vegas they’ve probably gotten some additional work in um that that’s kind of what I’m watching for tonight more than any individual performance yeah and then I think the problem you’re gonna have is if you’ve seen this Utah Jazz team they are so long and athletic I mean like talk about crazy they’ve got a 7 foot5 kid that I don’t think anyone’s ever heard of that played um at like a smaller college that uh that just is blocking shots left and right like super long athletic I think he’s he’s 75 220 so if that tells you that’s outrageous dude yeah but he’s not the only one they have you know they have a lot of their young upand cominging stars on that team and you’ll look around and you’ll watch like a shooting guard go in who’s 65 with a you know 611 wingspan going like like what in the world they have all the long athletic guys almost like uh what we’ve seen from the Pelicans the last couple of years and that’s going to be a problem for the Kings the Kings don’t have those young players hiding on the bench that have that lengthen athleticism that that they kind of need yeah Kyle filipowski uh Darius basley who’s been in the league for five years um athletic Kenny Loft and Jr not long athletic 66 275 though he is a he is a h yeah Bryce senah who who played real minutes for the Jazz last year and good player I like yeah me too it’s not gonna be a uh have you found the seven foot five guy yet where’s his no’s not he’s not on this version of the roster that I that I saw but this is from a few days ago so it could be uh it could just be outdated yeah I watched their last game and I thought like what are they just like finding new ways to find like Walker kler like they just keep finding new ones like what in the world they’re trying to trade Walker Kessler so maybe they’re trying one uh all right mon McNair spoke today uh saw some of the quotes from that we will discuss what that means is the King’s roster just done like is this it and if this is the roster they’re going into camp am in CBO again jazz beat the Mavericks 90 to 89 oh it’s not the Mavericks is it that has the six 7 fo5 guy it might be the M this is annoying because I can’t he blocked a ton of shots go to be him Jamarion sharp yes sharp 75 235 according to his Wiki okay uh let’s see in college two years at John A Logan not to be confused with James Logan uh and two years at Western Kentucky uh he shot 72.6% from the field in 2122 he averaged 4 and a half blocks per game in his career including 5.8 in the 2020 2020 one season good God yeah and he’s on Dallas right yes okay my bad everybody he’s on Dallas well I’ll have to correct that on the air that’s fine four points four blocks six boards an assist two for three from the field he’s super athletic and super fun kings are out of two two ways at this think it’s I think it’s interesting and I think it spins forward kind of the next the next step in this conversation because it feels like the the excitement about demard Rosen is is going to linger but the initial pop of like holy crap the king’s got dear Rosen is now is now gone MH and you had reported and there was there was uh rumors at the king’s like oh hey they’re still in on Lorie marinin hey they’re still in on Kyle kosma there’s all this and hey there might be another move coming well it’s now July 15th we’re into summer league and it feels like now hey maybe that additional move is not coming and then I saw that uh that Monty McNair said that this is probably the group that they’re going to go into camp with this is the main core of players are going to go into camp with which means maybe there’s some some moves on the margins but for the most part this is the roster the kings are looking at and I got to tell you man when I when I hear that it’s I don’t want to say it bums me out but it feels like I was I was so certain there was something else coming after the DeMar rosen trade and that was a great addition and I think it it makes the king a play playoff team yeah I I think it’s it’s a great addition and I and I agree with you it makes him a playoff team and when you compound that with some of the other moves that you know the smaller moves that they’ve made whether it’s Jayla McDaniels or it’s drafting Devin Carter um like all of these things you kind of sit there and go okay you know we can look at last season and say they barely missed the playoffs that that they had injuries late in the season and that that played a role in them missing the Playoffs you filled some of that uh issue but that doesn’t change the fact that number one you got smaller at the small forward position yeah um and I don’t know maybe deardo Rosen doesn’t start at the at the the three maybe he starts at the two and you just have like a really compacted backourt um but I’d also like there’s just you’re still missing the the same ingredient that you were like jayen McDaniels is long and athletic but and he was perfectly fine a couple of years ago for Charlotte when he’s on a bad team and had to take on a bigger scoring role and everything else and at that point I would have loved for the Kings to go out and trade for him then and he’s still only 26 years old but we’re we’re realistically talking about a guy who is an upgrade from Kesler Edwards but not a tremendous upgrade from Kesler Edwards and you know same style of player um but same style of players like Glenn Robinson II and so you’re hoping that uh that he can fill in like a back of the rotation guy like a 9 10 guy but I I wouldn’t put him in the top of my rotation um if I were a team that had like highend playoff aspirations he’s a guy that can play and he’s an upgrade over what you had last year but he’s not someone to put you over the top and I’m looking at this roster and you know Alex Lynn has to play It’s not that Alex Lynn can play it’s that at this point Alex Lynn has to play and he’s got to play a lot of games like he can’t he can’t get hurt and and play 47 games or something like he’s going to need to be a player because you don’t have another big man um you hope that Trey LS can play some five but we’ve also heard that Trey LS may end up playing the four and the five maybe even starting at the four like there’s a lot of question marks here about how you’re you’re roster constructing when it comes to that still the same issue the lengthen athleticism that you still don’t have and so I’m intrigued because if this is it like it’s got to work really well like like somehow you like Mike Brown has got to do a really really good job of like blending this thing together very quickly and that’s and that’s where my my hang-up is because the roster feels incomplete and every roster I think if if we went through the NBA and and we could even talk to experts and beat Riders and radio guys and TV guys and other markets and and we can talk to those media members and and I’m sure they’ll tell you yeah the roster lacking in in a b and c way and we’re going to do the same thing but with with Sacramento it it like I’m they they got better and I’ve said that a bajillion times over the last week they got better but then as we look and and I and I see that Monty McNair is saying yeah this is this is kind of the group and you know we’re going to be patient we’re looking at at wings and some and some forwards and some bigs but but this is largely the core that we’re going to go into with and oh Jaylen McDaniels can be impactful on both ends of the floor it’s like man the most the an optimistic view of the Kings sure you can talk yourself into this is a top three four team in the west like yes if every if everything goes right like you said hey Alex Len plays a bunch and is and is really impactful and Trey Lyles finds a role as a as a small ball five and a back of four and just just really turns it on and his lights out from three and is is pulling down rebounds and doing a great job wow what a player and Kevin herder finds a role there’s there’s all these things that you can talk yourself into but all I keep coming back to and all that is valid all that’s on the table maybe everything goes right and they have this magical season they win 55 games but everything I come back to is what we talked about all of last season we we we did multiple shows around the idea that every problem the Kings have comes back to their lack of size and their lack of athleticism on the wings and I and I and I know they solved some of those problems with demaro Rosen particularly the the scoring and the shot creation like they there not a lot of players that they could have added that would have helped more than demard de Rosen is going to in those two departments that is without a doubt but I can’t help but sit here and think man they are really really thin in the front court and on the wings again and if we’re going to be the mo if we’re going to if we’re going to lay out that optimistic case which I’m which I’m fine with if you want to lay out the optimistic case where this is a 55 win team and they’re really going to take off this year I think at the same time you have to lay out the other case where hey this team is is better but they’re going to run into a lot of the same problems against a lot of the same teams because their roster is thin and a lot of the same areas oh yeah yeah I mean I totally agree and you know I I think look people because of what happened last season and because of what happened in the Three-Point Shootout the year before I think people lost sight a little bit about the impact that Kevin herder had on this roster and when I had conversations with people within the walls of the team uh after the season they were more of the like like look Kevin herter had a bad season but we don’t think Kevin hder is a bad player and we think that like we we know who he was the year before and there’s a there’s potential for him to get back to that player right and so you know maybe he’s not the 15 Point per game guy but he’s not the 10 point Point per game guy maybe he’s in the middle there like a 12 13 Point per game guy but still an elite uh like gravitational pole shooter right and so there’s a a possibility that Kevin herder like gets going and and finds a way to get like right into that uh that type of player and and I would point out too that Kevin herder at 67 like he can play the two and the three and at this point like could you see a a weird lineup where it’s dearen Fox demard Rosen at the two Kevin herder at the three Keegan Murray at the four and KY and damont sabon set to five to start the season like yeah I could see that like like this that’s the starting lineup well yeah but like if if you know you have deard Rosen who’s not a great three-point shooter and you know that you have that dearn fox who improved and became a much better three-point shooter last season you need as many shooters on the court as possible so especially with sabonis I could see them looking at at Kevin herder and saying okay why not start him at the three Why not start him alongside kegam Murray now defensively sure you might have some problems but I’d make the case it uh in the same way that I used to with Buddy heeld like I think buddy heeld just because he’s six foot4 was like defensively miscast as a shooting guard defensively like his awareness and everything else out in space at in at the top of the key where he can be like manipulated by either a big man coming up and setting screens or just a a better athlete running at him like wasn’t a wasn’t an ideal situation but buddy was big enough and strong enough that if you put him on small forwards he was actually pretty solid as a Defender and you’re also taking away a lot of the Court when you put them on guys who are on the wing versus guys that are at the top of the key I think that could be this similar case for Kevin herder where if you put Kevin herter like maybe not on the the super long super crazy athletic uh you know not the the Brandon ingrams of the world um but a lot of other players I think that Kevin herder might be able to hold his own as more of a three on the defensive end than you know so I don’t know what they’re thinking but at this point like Kevin herder isn’t a bad player and I think that if you can kind of uh like forget about last season and and let him establish who he is this year it’s possible that he could be a better player than what you could have got for him um and the other problem that you have if you’re Monty McNair is I I know I see people bringing up like beef stew and stuff like uh Isaiah Stewart from uh the the Pistons right but here’s the problem that if you take Kevin herder and you trade him for him right now then what happens if Kyle kosma does come up for grabs what happens if you can put a package for for Brandon Ingram midseason if if the pelican aren’t doing well and they’re like man we got to get off this now we got to bail um then you don’t really have that trade chip that you do as of right now and so you have to be cautious as well with how you’re sort of looking at your your trade packages because like again yeah you traded Sasha fenov you traded Davon Mitchell to Toronto in a in a salary dump and the salary dump look great but how do you use that salary and so far they haven’t so let me let me I I you said a lot of stuff I want to touch on there yeah yeah Kevin herder on the roster for sure as well if if Monty saying they’re done that this is who he thinks they’re going into camp with then maybe but then again this could just be you know putting something out there in the media to to make sure people know yeah we’re totally comfortable with this as a Ruster now here’s okay so let let’s roll with that Kevin herder on the roster because I’ve been operating that he was gonna get traded he hasn’t yet it doesn’t sound like he’s going to it again Never Say Never it’s on the table but let’s let’s assume he’s he’s going in the biggest question I have with Kevin herder is not even defensively because I think defensively the Kings have the horses to uh take some of the the defensive burden off of him in a way they they couldn’t before Keon Ellis kind of burst on the scene right the question I have now though is is you laid out that lineup where Kevin herder is started in that fox herder uh D rozan Keegan sabonis lineup MH if that’s not the lineup if it is hey they they came to an agreement with Malik Monk and they decided that they have the pie is now to allow Malik monk to start or if they say no D rozan has to be at the two um and and um uh I’m sorry Keon has to be at the two D rozan has to be at the three and Keegan has to be at the four and Kevin herder’s coming off the bench is that a role that he’s going to accept because I think that was a big problem for him last year and I think that was that was the reason we saw him shoot a career low percentage was because his his role was threatened at the beginning of the year and then he he struggled coming out of the gate and so there was all this questioning about is he going to get traded what’s wrong with him and and I just don’t think it was like a a a smooth season particularly coming off a rough playoff series in to end the year prior so he was in this this situation last year where he never really got stable never really got his got forgive the the phrase here but got his feet set and now if he’s in a spot where the kings are going yeah hey um you’re going to be coming off the bench and also you’re going to be in every trade rumor for the entire year like I don’t think that’s setting him up for Success no I I’m with you and I I fully understand that um I would would say this though uh Kevin herder was coming off a career year um last summer like people forget he was the king’s third leading scorer the year that they had the highest offensive rating in the history of the game like he he literally was their third scorer and so incredibly consistent he had one Lull in the middle of the Season where he was bad shooting wise and then he snapped out of it and kept going um but I think he went into last off season and he talked about this a little bit in his his postseason wrapup um he said look what I did is I worked on the offense that that we’re playing in I I worked on those uh you know like extending out off the high uh dribble handoff you know the dho like he’s like I worked on that a lot I worked on um how to play off a domos and all these things he’s like and then I got into the season and teams took that stuff away from us and I had spent the entire offseason kind of just working on the things that would have made me better in that system he’s like so this offseason I’m going to work on go back to the basics of what I typically do which is just try to work on my overall game and be a better basketball player and so that’s one thing but I also think that Kevin herder walked into last summer thinking okay like I didn’t have a good playoff series but hey neither did Harrison Barnes neither did name that King there were plenty of guys who didn’t have a good playoff series and he walked into the summer believing he was going to be the starting shooting guard come training camp and then in training camp they had brought in Chris dwarte and next thing you know it for some reason became a competition Chris Forte gets hurt then it’s not a competition but I I think the psyche like really threw Kevin herder so what I’m hoping is that Kevin herder number one has been working with somebody all summer long um on this type of situation like what we saw from Kevin herder a lot of his issues there was nothing physically wrong with Kevin herder until late in the season when he dislocated his shoulder outside of that like the mental aspect of the game got to Kevin herder and like I’m not speaking out of turn here there’s no question he got like he had a hitch and a shot and all kinds of weird mechanical issues that came up out of nowhere none of that was physical there was nothing wrong with him that would have caused that it was all mental and I’m hoping that he’s he’s worked on that you know it’s not just about jumping higher and shooting the ball better and and being in better physical shape to to run faster and run further sometimes it is about about understanding roles understanding your place in the league and your place in the the hierarchy of your team and and really taking a step back and I’m hoping that that’s what we’ve seen that that’s what we’ll see from Kevin so what I’m saying is that I think he’ll be better prepared physically we know he was like he was at Coachella with uh with um withot Bottle Rock my accuracy yeah no no no Bottle Rock my my bad uh Bottle Rock with with domas um we know he’s he’s been around his teammates here and there but at the same time you’re really really hoping that he’s coming in with the understanding of like anything can happen in the NBA just because you’re making 17 million bucks a year doesn’t mean you’re a starter anymore you know it could mean like they just brought back Malik Monk and paid him more money than you make to be the six-man most likely and so like realistically uh this was probably a wakeup call season for Kevin hder and whether it it positively or negatively impacts him going forward we’ll have to wait and see how it responds but I’m not like just ready to throw Kevin hter out and say hey look man you’re you’re not a good basketball player anymore you don’t need to be here um but he can be a means to an end right and by that I mean he can be the piece that’s moved in a trade the Kings probably had an option of who they wanted to trade whether it was Harrison Barnes or it was uh Kevin herder and it was probably the difference between going between two different teams when they’re completing the three- Team SWAP for uh yeah for um D rozan yeah so like there there’s a good possibility that this is the guy that they chose right and and that’s good like if this is a guy that they chose to be around and they think that his three-point shooting and like his again his ability to stretch the defense like makes sense for this team okay because it did two years ago it was phal to watch yeah so you know it’s tough man I think on this roster I’d rather have Harrison maybe I think in a vacuum I’d rather have herder but um I I do Wonder a if the Devin Carter injury changed the king’s thought process on herder at all because if you have a healthy Devin Carter which which the Kings won’t until January at the minimum you have at the two or players who can play the two Malik monk Devin Carter demard Rosen Keon Ellis I could just it it feels like Kevin herder’s spot is it the the three specifically and I don’t I’m I’m not totally sure where that uh yeah that’s gonna be right for him and if that’s the right fit well I definitely when you talk about the the Devin Carter injury I think it does change everything I mean whether he was going to play 20 4 minutes a game or he was going to average like 16 to 18 that’s still a big role that you just lost and you know again they went on that they got Jordan mcclin has sort of filled the backup three but I if you’re just looking right now at at realistically you can group players in different areas right but if you’re looking at your backcourt being dearen and Malik and Keon and Jordan and and maybe kby Jones well that’s not enough yeah right and because if I’m if I’m going to group those guys together and then I’m going to look at the small forward spot and say that’s kind of demard Rosen and Kevin herder and I’m gonna look at the power forward spot I’m gonna say that’s kind of Trey lyes and and Keegan Murray and then Jaylen McDaniels is gonna be your fifth your fifth forward there right that’s kind of your team if you throw in Devin Carter it does mix things up pretty uh substantially and it adds a ton of depth but this point like they they do need to use those last two or at least one of the last roster spots to try to add some other size at some position and so yeah it’s it’s kind of intriguing Kyle like the the roster build of this thinging it doesn’t feel done and so when you hear Monty McNair say something like that that this is a team that they’re going to take into Camp it does feel a little bit like okay this is what they’re going to take in Camp it are you hearing that out there Washington Wizards this is a team we’re taking into camp like are you hearing us because that’s what we’re going to do we’re not gonna give you two for that we’re taking into Camp yes maybe some smaller moves like a signing no trade yeah waston we’re not giving up two first round picks Washington but we’re ready to move forward yeah so that’s what always open yeah I I would just say like if you were to add one other piece it changes everything excuse me yeah it definitely does so yeah uh real quick on the Lori Market in front it sounds like that that that’s that’s a done thing for the Kings uh you mentioned earlier you know wanting to wanting to hang on to herder in in part because of how he might be able to potentially impact the the lineup but B for a potential mid seon trade oh Brandon Ingram it looks like he’s going to hang out in in New Orleans at least for the time being it doesn’t sound like the Jazz are are super interested in moving off Lori Markin and and maybe the Wizards who just signed yonis Valen chunis are still under this impression that the back end of the East is really weak and they’re going to be able to go make a a real push for the uh for the for a playin spot um but it sounds like the kings are off of marinin and there was some reporting in the athletic today from Shams Teran this I just thought was really funny on the markeet and stuff uh the Warriors have discussed a trade Proposal with the Jazz around Moses Moody multiple first round picks multiple pick swaps and multiple second round picks the Jazz countered with an offer of Lori marinin for Moses Moody Jonathan kaminga and Brandon psky along with picks which surprisingly has been a non-starter for Golden State so it it doesn’t shock me at all that that’s something that the Kings probably punted on because if that’s what the Jazz want from the Warriors I can’t fathom what they would have asked for from Sacramento yeah I mean I’ve I’ve heard that the Kings had a competitive offer on the table that did not include Keegan Murray right it’s a competitive offer competitive in what sense though competitive in the general trade market sense or competitive in the Danny an is an insane person sense yeah and that’s always going to be the problem and and the worst part is we’re talking about a guy who who’s not under contract moving forward so and who his people have been pretty pretty clear to uh to people that he would really really like to explore free agency this summer and to give himself like an opportunity to go he doesn’t feel like he he really had a good free agent experience the last time and that he was kind of left out of the cold and the free agent world and and had to sign with Cleveland on like a make good contract for a guy of his level of skill and then he made good and so like he wants to he wants to figure out free agency and play where he wants to play well that’s like a giant red flag why would you give up multiple first round picks and multiple piig swaps for a guy who won’t commit and if he’s not going to commit to you then like what are you doing so the deal is if they sign him on August 3rd right by August well is it August August 3D they have an exact the beginning of August yeah they well maybe it’s August 6 there’s one day that they have to sign him and they have to do a renegotiate and extend like what the king said with sabonis if he gets that contract on that specific date six months he he has to stay on the roster that equates to trade day yes the actual trade deadline day of the deadline and you can’t trade him until that day and you can’t trade him after that day so it’s like this really weird dynamic that’s in play um yeah that’s going to be fascinating especially since the Jazz may have some inkling from Lori Markin in that part of his free agency is going to be exploring staying with Utah and so if Utah is going to trade him they’re going to try and squeeze every every last drop they can out of that uh out of that deal all right we have to hit a break we got a second Kings DraftKings dropped their uh 2024 2025 NBA season win totals all right fine he won’t hang up I’ll hang up on him for him um the kings are sitting at 45 and a half wins that is the s highest total in the Western Conference that puts them right about where they were last year um I know it feels low but I think that’s the right number that feels like a good number to me oh it’s a draw you in number that’s for sure it’s but here’s here’s where this is where betting markets get weird because I look at that I would bet the over on this by the way if if gambling was legal in the state of California I would I would bet the over on 45 a half because even if the Kings win 46 again like I think their rosters better than last year I think they’re going to win more games than they did last year whether it’s 47 48 51 55 I don’t know that that depends on a lot of things but they should be at least as good as they were last season if not better that’s why I’d lean uh the over on 45 and a half wins but this is where the betting markets are weird because while I think Golden State and the Lakers or the Dallas Cowboys or whoever get inflated a little bit because people just there’s a lot of fans of those teams and people just bet the over and so it changes how the books have to have to make their totals I kind of wonder if the opposite happens for the Kings where there’s going to be people who don’t really follow the NBA super close and they’re just going to walk up to a book and go oh Sacramento 45 and a half oh under and that that’s part of I don’t know that might happen and that might be worth half a win or whatever I don’t I I I have no idea but like you said that feels like bait to me it’s it’s funny Kyle during the um the deardo Rosen press conference Monty McNair said something that stood out he said like it’s only Us in Denver who have won 46 games or more in the last two seasons and I was like oh that is that real it’s correct and it is correct and so like you’re you’re looking at that number of 45 and a half you’re like okay well then that seems easy but for my experience what typically happens is if a lot of people believe that to be the case they’re going to bet that heavily like right in the first couple of days they’re going to keep like that that number is going to get pushed up and then the betting odds are going to change and they’re going to keep pushing the Kings up higher until they get to like 48 and a half and then people are gonna bet the under and bring it back down and so that number is going to change ba based slightly off of the way that it’s bet and so so for me like 46 and a half 45 and a half it’s probably really fair like honestly I think everyone was so surprised last year when it was 44 45 and everyone was oh so disrespectful to the Kings and then sure enough there they are right there at that number and so yeah I’m in I’m intrigued to see what happens um with the actual number and where it’s at when we get to the start of the season because I think it’ll move a whole lot between now and then I think I think that 45 a half wins at draftking sports book I think that allows for the re I think that allows for a couple of things to go wrong where hey there might be an injury there might be uh maybe D Roan doesn’t integrate as as well as they want to early and they they they lose a bunch of games early while they’re figuring that out I think it it it accounts for that while also allowing for hey they’re going to be they’re gonna at least be good again and every year we see teams way over to the the year the year the Kings went to the playoffs a couple years ago would they surpass their over by like January oh yeah I mean they they hit the over by by like before the trade deadline it was crazy I think it was 32 and a half man and they and they won 48 yeah so that this this happens every year this is not Las Vegas predicting that the kings are only going to win 45 or 46 games this is just a general when you take everything into account like yeah it’s about it’s about in this Ballpark and being in that ballpark is good because if you’re four wins better than your projection here you’re at 50 so I don’t um I don’t have a huge problem with it I don’t see it as as disrespectful uh I would just lean toward the over though and maybe sharp money comes in and like you said maybe we see that climb up to 46 or 47 and a half by the time the season starts but if you start getting too high you’re going to get people just hammering the under and that’s not what that’s not what books want but I’m wiing over 45 and a half I just can’t the world where they’re worse than they were last year for for for me like a lot of things have to go really wrong yes and that’s that’s why that’s why I would I would lean toward the over this isn’t even a super optimistic like things could go wrong and they could still be at 46 you know to get to to 45 or below to be worse than they were last year that’s dearin taking a step back that’s domas taking a step back that’s demaro Rosen not working out that’s Malik monk not playing like he did LA last year the last two years really that’s Kevin herder struggling again if if he’s going to be around I it’s just it’s a it’s Keegan Murray not taking a leap it would it would be a disaster if they went backwards at this point well K I don’t see it man and to that point like I’m not sure what their games missed due to injury was last year um you know they had the the games early like the 13 games that Trey lyes missed in the beginning of the season a couple of games that um that yeah dear Fox but then someone else got hurt too in that that beginning oh Keegan Murray missed one or two games Kevin herder missed one yeah so they missed a couple of games early but I I hope people like Devin Carter’s injury is going to put them like 50 games missed to start the season like they’re already going to be at a tremendous amount of games lost due to injury like before they opened the season they already lost him for for 50 games and so I don’t know I’m sure they missed more than 50 total on the season due to injury because s of zenov missing 20-some games and yeah and all that uh and then of course the end of the season where you had herder and monk but even The Herder and monk injuries only cost you like 16 18 games total uh so so my point is that like the injury that you just sustained already you have time to backfill it right now but still like whether you’re going to get the same quality that you thought you might have got from Devin Carter in year one or not you’re probably not going to maybe you can get a better a more seasoned player that can help but uh that’s where like this team is is going to have to figure it out they’re going to have to make sure that their depth is okay to start this season because as of right now that’s what my biggest question would be your depth and your athleticism and length still is a question mark I also I I think the depth you mentioned that Trey lles injury Trey LS gets hurt this year you’re in deep trouble deep trouble I mean that’s Trey LS Alex Len Jaylen McDaniels like that is that’s a thin ass front Court man that’s where I I’ve seen a lot of people in the in the chat he house today asking about precious precious auua from the Knicks he would make a lot of sense to me especially if at this point if if he’s available on a minimum like yeah go go do that I think he’s a he’d be a really quality depth piece uh but yeah that’s the other thing is you know we’re talking about monk injury or fox or whoever it’s dude if one person goes down to their front Court they are suddenly uh in a in a world of hurt there so I’m betting the over on 45 and a half wins for now okay really about it I feel I would too and are we are we in agreement too that if they’re going under that they have some either there was a a really bad stretch of injuries or they are in disaster mode well yeah I I think something would have to horribly go wrong like I used to like every single uh season me and Dell one of the stat uh the stat Keepers for the Kings uh like the um the official scorers for the for the Kings we we throw out our prediction right and we always give each other like a plus or minus three so if you say 45 wins that means 42 to 48 right and we’re usually within the range but there were a couple of Seasons where it was like hey I think that they can win 45 but I want a plus or minus eight and he would just laugh like what do you mean plus or minus eight I’m like well because either DeMarcus Cousins will like everything will go smooth or there will be drama midseason the whole thing will blow up so like that’s where you have like this crazy plus minus he goes well that doesn’t seem fair I’m like well you know if I say 33 that means that they could win 25 or 41 like sure yeah that’s that’s quite a range but yeah it’s kind of one of those deals though team were yeah yeah and for for me like when precious cha if if he’s available and he wants to come in for um again the the biannual exception at like four plus million sure go for it that that to me would at least sh up some of the sh up some of the stuff you have down low we have some more fun odd stuff we can get to MLB allstar break we’ll check in with the A and giants real it’s like sort of a a budget version of some of their stuff just because we’re only staying here so we’re in uh Villa Del Palmar this place is really really nice in quality um anyway yeah it’s it’s nice but they also have like nicer versions of this hotel it’s one of the older versions from this time share group and uh we got like incredible deals from them years ago and that’s why we started coming here so we got like one like maybe 10 years ago we came here and it was like a a a deal where for five nights six days five nights it was $3.99 All In inclusive and you had to buy your airfare but the all-inclusive included kids under 12 up to two kids under 12 so me and my family came here for for five night and then it was like 175 bucks a day to extend that so we came here for like six nights for like less than 600 bucks and all inclusive our food bill for the week was like 2500 bucks because that includes drinks so if I go to Cabo I always go allinclusive yeah it sounds like the calling in and then stopped calling in and now a different number called in uh and I can tell because of the caller ID uh what are the odds that it’s obier 8 to One 8 to one it’s obier yeah no I would go like a thousand to one oh hey you’re on the insiders who’s this so what’s the problem man y thought so all right Ah that’s amazing Kyle you know what you have your own radio show and you can do follow the Copa America final last night at Hard Rock stadium in Miami I did uh good idea or bad idea whatever the hell happened with security there uh it’s a bad idea Kyle yeah yeah it feels like security worldwide has like taken a step back over the last 55 hours or so um I’m not sure what what exactly happened there but you had people like like climbing in a tunnel or something did you see that like they’re climbing in through a vent like what’s happening so they they from what I from what I understand and what I was reading last night and again I was reading this in real time so if there has been some expose written I have not read it yet but it appeared that there were people who had tickets to enter early and they opened the gate to try and let those people in and the gate just got bum rushed oh and people started pouring in and they weren’t they wound up and now now we’re just I’m trying to go through the checklist they weren’t checking for like uh weapons or anything like like they weren’t doing any kind of checks you they were just letting people in uh ticketed people with seats were finding that there were already people in their seats but security was telling them they couldn’t do anything about it you had people climbing up like the side of the stadium to get in you had people climbing in the vents that’s what you were talking about getting into the vents ventilation system it’s wild I saw people climbing out of a vent on the inside it is insane dude and honestly it makes me feel like I’m lacking in my sports fandom I would never do that and it’s because I don’t have that dog in me like that’s that’s that’s what it that’s what I think it comes down to uh no whatever whatever that was security-wise was an Abomination like that that is dangerous it was already hot and humid there and there was already a crush of people there who um who were going to have I think I think a little bit of a problem anyway just from if you’ve ever been in a crowd and it’s hot you just you got bodies running into you it’s hard to breathe um and on top of that you have the security risk that comes with just letting people willy-nilly run into a stadium I know they did the best they could but whatever they did uh before the event to prepare for the event wasn’t good enough not at all that was a scary scary situation thankfully uh nothing happened during the game again I haven’t I haven’t read up on on any expose that’s come out since our show started if if one has um but it looked like everything went okay but bro if I had paid two grand or whatever it was going to get into that stadium and I didn’t get to get in because it was at capacity with a bunch of people who didn’t have tickets o oh I’d be so mad Kyle they said the ticket was like 960 average ticket was like 963 bucks or something so I’m gonna guarantee there are a lot of angry people who didn’t get in or whose seats weren’t there when they they went to go to their seats that’s not great man like what a what a complete failure especially in security yeah really tough uh but congratulations to Argentina winners of Copa America uh really sad to see lonel Messi go down with that with that nasty ankle injury but Argentina pulls through anyway in extra time uh really really fun watch there in uh in Miami last night number two Brock pie ESPN has been doing their top 10 position rankings where they interview Executives and Scouts and coaches and then they rank the players based on those interviews Brock pry an honorable mention outside of the top 10 of the uh top 10 quarterbacks good idea or bad idea to list Brock pry outside the top 10 at this point well that’s a bad idea I mean come on now I mean look at his stats from last season and his stats are only going to go up he got more weapons his his roster’s better like I I don’t get that at all I mean he’s he’s clearly a top 10 quarterback like I don’t know so I think so so I think that what you just said is the exact argument somebody would use to say he’s not a top 10 quarterback they would go well look at his weapons and now the team has gotten now now his weapons have gotten better if if Ricky Piera is any good so yeah I look here’s I’ve decided that this is never going to end because the two sides are shouting into different voids there’s no set of facts that’s being argued over you have the people going hey uh who cares who his coaches and weapons are look at these stats he was a top five MVP finisher uh of course he’s a top 10 quarterback because they went to the Super Bowl and he was really good but then on this void you have people shouting but if he was on a worse team he wouldn’t be as good and that’s just like all right and this is just going to be interminable uh I I or I’m gonna live in the in the gray area I’ve just built in the gray area okay I don’t think he’s top 10 uh but I think he’s probably top half and and if he has another year like he had last year regardless of of what his weapons are I think he’s going to be really really hard to not make him a top 10 quarterback that’s kind yeah I’m gonna put him higher than that okay yeah I I’m gonna say like statistically speaking uh oh statistically speaking he was 45 45 and 35 4500 yards 35 touchdowns that’s what my my projections for her him would be and I think it could even go higher than that I think it can go 48 and and 38 um and the reason I think that is because uh I’m not sure that that uh you’re going to do the same thing with your running back position that you did last year um you’re going to hope that mcaffrey holds out as long that like he holds up as long as possible but I would be concerned that he won’t and so I’m GNA say that they’re gonna throw the ball a little bit more to guys not name Christian McCaffrey if he puts up 4,800 yards and 38 touchdowns in a world where Christian mcaffry is not available uh for an extended period then it would be nigh impossible to to not put him in the top 10 in my opinion but for now it’s fine fine idea okay uh A’s selling at the trade deadline which is coming up on July 30th good idea or bad idea by the A’s uh it’s a bad idea just because you already are just dirt bags and everyone hates you and I guess you can just go all in on being like the the biggest dirt bags ever but I hate it because that’s not what you should do you you at least have guys that can hit home runs and I mean at least you have that right now don’t take that away from your fans so at least fun yeah at least they hit eight home runs yesterday I mean come on at least they’re fun they’ve scored I saw this stat and I wish I could remember who tweeted it salute to them this is not a Kyle Madison original stat the a have scored 18 plus runs three times this year no other team has done it once oh and if they they were going to trade uh in good faith with the idea of building out a real roster that’d be one thing uh but we all know what it is we all know that it’s it’s going to be if it’s not at the deadline it’s going to be at the off season and if it’s not at this deadline that it’ll be at the next one um It’s just tough it’s a tough way to both both of it or all four of his shots were from three a rebound two assists he was a plus nine he had six points he just it doesn’t I don’t love the fit you know what Kyle I what I don’t want is for him to be part of Team USA and going around talking about like he’s a villain like oh everybody doesn’t like me I’m a villain like dude you’re on Team USA like I and I I don’t want to take away from who he is as a player because I think tyres Salton is a phenomenal player I agree but when you hear a head coach of of a team State at the beginning of of like a camp that we believe that every single player here is a Hall of Famer it’s like okay look man like you have to earn that and most of the players on that team 10 of them are like knock down Shire Hall of Famers right like Anthony Davis is a Hall of Famer LeBron James Steph Curry like LeBron step Kawai before he left like right ker heading that way yep Deon Booker is on his way Drew holiday probably there yeah he’s probably there now with his uh his two rings out of bio’s tough he’s not there Anthony Edwards trending that direction early probably yeah no joelan beats a Hall of Famer so I mean that’s what I’m talking about though like if you’re we’re talking all MVP caliber players a bunch of MVP caliber players like oh MVP caliber players James go ahead yeah he’s he’s not there yet he’s not there yet and um you know I just think that like for me like eventually Tyrese Halbert might get there but his inclusion on that team is kind of strange when there are guys who are like Bonafide Hall of Famers that you would go oh yeah that guy’s in no matter what it feels like and again this is not this is not hating I think that Tyrese halberton has a has a chance to be a really good player on a on a really really good Pacers team for and maybe the best player on a really good Pacers team for a long time but right now his inclusion on Team USA and maybe it’s because he’s around he played in the FBA World Championships and he’s he’s been part of the program and we know how important that is so maybe maybe that’s what this is but to me it feels like halberton still just drafting off of the the energy he got at the start of last year where he was going 20 and 10 every night and was incredible and hitting game-winning shots and and just kind of being a monster and he wasn’t that player once he came back from his injury and so maybe maybe I’m jumping the gun and maybe he’s he’s going to be a way better player next year post injury and having an offseason he’s getting to chill or whatever but right now it seems like the tyres halberton train like stopped a while ago but everybody expected it to be X miles down the road and still they’re operating like it’s still X miles down the road even though it’s not it has slowed down precipitously yeah but at the same time you do need to bring your younger group along with you and I get it because he is part of the young core of of great players that are they’re gonna be here and you know again um I feel like dearn Fox isn’t included in something like this because because he walked away from Team USA a couple of years ago and he had a chance to play in the games uh what in China and but he was in guaranteed a spot and and he walked away from from the program and once you walk away from the program they’re they’re very Petty that that’s what it feels like like they they weren’t listening they weren’t understanding about the why and they also wouldn’t commit to him and wanted him to commit to them and go to Australia for two weeks before being gone for like four to six weeks uh playing in the games and and they wouldn’t commit to him even making the team and he was going to miss a wedding he was going to miss all this stuff right and so for me like there is uh like they’re a little weird in the way that they they build out their their group and like look dearen Fox was a huge huge like u19 player for them like he played with Team USA all through like the high school years and was really good like him and Harry Giles and like a lot of those Jason Tatum those guys but um once you burn that program they they they hold a grudge and so I think that there are other players that could have been there that might have been in better fit or might be better two-way players um you know than than Tai and that’s not to hate on Tai because I I I I do think Tai is the next generation of of great NBA players and and there’s a good chance he is a Hall of Famer whether he makes it or not we’ll have to wait and see I’m also already over watching Joel embiid play basketball it’s a tough watch now man like he was he was and again this is not he’s he’s an MVP candidate and if the 76ers are going to win a title he’s going to be at the at the center of it figuratively and literally but his game compared to when you just watch Steph and LeBron and Jason Tatum and Devin Booker and Drew holiday and Tyrese halberton even uh you you see these guys moving around on the court Anthony Davis and Bam out of Bio they they’ve been playing together a lot which is insane but then as Jo embiid and it just doesn’t the style of play is is it’s jarring the ju toos between the way he plays the game in the way the rest of Team USA plays is crazy I he can’t be your starting center I mean maybe he can’t because he’s so much more dominant than everyone else but I I think the biggest problem for me is that he just looks like he’s dragging his body up and down the court and like that’s why I’m kind of like red flag here like what are we doing why are you why are you doing this to your body um we already know what happened last season with him like falling apart and not being able to play a substantial role and even in the playoffs like it was sad watching him play in the playoffs and I I kind of feel like it’s the same exact sad that you’re watching him right now he just his body just isn’t there and he should be spending the summer rehabbing and making sure he’s ready for what’s coming up next and working with the training staff that can like get him to elite elite athleticism again and I just don’t know that he can do that and spending all this time with Team USA is kind of kind of a weird like way to set yourself up for a season all that said he was pretty good today he had 10 points he had five boards he had an assists he went uh one of one from three he went two of five excuse me three of six overall from the field in in 16 minutes and yeah maybe that’s it maybe he starts and maybe he plays 16 minutes but man the BAM out of Bio Anthony Davis front court is nasty oh yeah that’s filthy dude yeah those two combined today let me see 10 of 17 from the field uh 27 points two blocks two steals two assists 16 rebounds Anthony Davis had 17 and 14 damn yeah I mean and defensively I you don’t get any better than that like if you’re a team like from like you’re an Olympic qualifying team and you’re like oh no we’re in Group D or whatever it is at USA is you’re just like oh no like how do you compete with that those dudes are so Elite defensively especially together I need to see him play against France I need to see the wemi go be front court against uh against that duo but I I’m it’s funny what the Olympics does because I’m like hell yeah Team USA in any sport any competition I’m all about it whether I’ve heard of your sport or you or not you are now my favorite athlete in that sport hands down and it’s funny because we talk on this on this station a lot about Anthony Davis in the context of Lakers V Kings and we know that demonus sabonis curls him up into a paper ball and toss him in a trash can every time they face each other and yet now Anthony Davis going for 17 and 14 I’m like he’s dominant guys the future Hall of Famer like who’s slowing down Anthony Davis I don’t know I don’t see it is very Anthony Davis now yeah I think it’s it’s really interesting too because Davis is like I mean a first battle Hall of Famer um but you do have that that always that want that he never sort of fulfilled his greatness and I’ve talked about this like like I don’t know if you can appreciate a guy fully until he’s on your fantasy basketball team or your fantasy football team like what if you’re like oh I don’t I don’t truly believe in him and then all of a sudden he’s on your team and I I had like 12 games this season where he put up 100 points in fantasy basketball bball and like an average a good player is putting up like 32 and you’re like what in the like how did he get to 100 points again and then you go look and you’re like okay 28 points 14 rebounds six assists yeah four blocks two steals you’re you’re just like he is a Marvel when when he’s going and uh so yeah I I mean he’s a first battle Hall of Famer I I I’ll give him that but at the same time Deon sabona still just like crushes him yeah um real quick before we before we get to the handoff because I don’t I forget if it’s DLo or KC today but I don’t want to talk baseball with them and bore them um Casey would talk Casey will talk baseball if if Casey is here we we’ll talk some baseball but I I in the National League how do how do they uh how do they get better you have teams like the Marlins who are not good but they have players like JZ Chisum and and uh and Jesus Lardo who could be available who could really kind of change the the complexion of an All-Star of a of a playoff race the Padres are always going to be a factor but I don’t know that there’s a team I’m more interested to watch in the Giants because there’s a chance that they go for it and they trade some top prospects and they bring in a big name and and people will rejoice and oh my God they’re going to try and make a push but also they’re three games under they have Blake Snell back pitching better they have Robbie Ray on the comeback Trail to to add to their rotation Marco Luciano’s been playing better uh Elliot Ramos has come on as an All-Star I could see Farhan zi sitting on his hands at the deadline maybe maybe adding a reliever here maybe adding a backend starter but but nothing big um and I could see the Giants still making a little playoff push just based on that and if they don’t make a move though I can’t wait to see how their fan base reacts why don’t they just go fleece the a oh they did they should just go fleece the A’s I mean the A’s clearly want to like be sellers like they always are I mean what would Brett Rooker look like in a in a giant uniform I mean boy those trades don’t a lot as and Giants deals yeah but dude Brent Rooker would look nice in the middle of the Giants lineup given up I’ve given up on Brent on the on the on my Brent Rooker take that like okay this a little flash in the pan he had a nice year but okay now Brent rooker’s good Brent Brent rooker’s an All-Star caliber player oh no he’s he’s a launcher of home runs and he’s under team control for like another three years yeah yeah like super super inexpensive like what are you doing but but look it’s the A’s it’s what they do like Shay langelier should not be comfortable at all he’s hit too many homers even though he can’t bat over 210 he’s hit too many homers and he’s going to be someone that people are looking at and and like that whole entire team you just like it’s a bummer to watch but but why not if you’re the Giants go go pillage e eaten 85 in the chat says Rooker Miller Butler typically on a typical team on a regular team on a regular baseball team that would be a trio that you’re looking at and going dude the next three or four years it’s going to be scary out here yeah especially when you add gof and you add Sodom and yeah yeah I mean all of a sudden you’re going oh hey but you can’t you can’t do that that’s the whole A’s ethos is don’t get excited about anyone ever um I’m interested to see though the A’s have obviously Mason Miller has been like a a top trade Target for basically anybody who is is uh in need of of pitching help which is basically every Contender every every contender could always use another another pitcher specifically a dominant closer right M or dominant back end of the bullpen guy but the a is it at first it sounded like they might trade him but now the asking price is so high I’m very interested to see if a team does come meet that asking price and if the a are willing to get off of a a 25y old looks like dominant closer in the Mak with one year of in uh Major League Baseball experience so team control for five more seasons something like that just crazy C czy but yeah I I wouldn’t I wouldn’t be shocked if if they just like let it all go I mean it’s just brutal to watch me neither yeah but maybe they don’t maybe they’re uh gearing up to come to Sacramento with with a ton of talent in tow and they’ll be exciting they were exciting yesterday they beat the Phillies eight the Phillies by the way best team in baseball just swept the Dodgers and then lose two or three to the A’s the A’s had no runs through three Innings yesterday and finished with 18 thanks to eight homers that there was a shot by Lawrence Butler that was I don’t know what the the tape measure said but my goodness just a nuke dude yeah he hit it to Right Center like in the second deck just ridiculous yeah and it didn’t he’s not even a big dude just like going up there and mashing so yeah like you got a lot to build around um and I would be interested too like if everyone’s so excited about the A’s coming to Sacramento next season like how do you feel with them ready to get this roster again and that’s something like hey you know this is a the team that you think you’re going to be watching next year yeah yeah we G we can dive into that be the like oh now I was all in on the D rozen thing but now I’m out on the Kings yeah but I think they got better but their roster still feels like woefully incomplete yeah so my opinion and and I didn’t hear exactly what Monty McNair said but my opinion on that is like yeah the the core of the roster is set the core is is DeMar de rozan and and uh Damonte sabonis and dearon fox and Keegan Murray and Malik monk that’s the core of the roster sure and but but I that doesn’t mean he’s done doing other things it doesn’t mean he’s done making moves I think the um you know there’s a lot that we’ll that we’ll talk about I I don’t I don’t think the Brandon Ingram I don’t think there’s anything to discuss in regards to Brandon Ingram at all in the Sacramento Kings Kyle kma Kyle kozma will be interesting I think there’s a lot of flaws in the acquisition of Kyle kosma I think it would probably result I think I think no discussion can be had about acquiring Kyle kosmo without him waving his trade kicker I also think there’s concerns about the third year of his contract given the fact that in the third year of his contract I’m sure they expect the Aaron Fox to be making a ton of money damont sabonis to be making a ton of money Keegan Murray be making a ton of money so there’s probably a lot of flaws in that as well and I think you’re probably looking at at guys like Davis Berton I think you’re starting to look at a lower know I don’t mean a lower tier of players like you’re you’re just looking to fill out your roster a certain way so I don’t have any issue at all with with Monty saying No this is this is our roster this is the our Core group I don’t have any problem with that at all because I I thought that was the case when when they when they landed Dem M de rozan I’ll tell you what something somebody told me Zack beudy actually a rivercats radio broadcaster said this to me when I was a young baseball broadcaster and it meant a lot to me and I’ve carried it throughout my career he said nobody’s hanging on your every word and I went wow that’s really helpful Z thank you and I’ve taken that with me uh and then I’m at the chatty house the chatty house if I use one word that I’m just like I couldn’t think of something so I just said they’re on me yeah I said woefully short that’s probably strong and I apologize wul short is the Blazers oh that’s not a competitive playoff team it’s not the king’s roster is just a little thin in the front Court there you go yeah and I and I Thanks Tay I think that’s gonna be I I I think that’ll be rectified but the the name that the Sacramento Kings acquired this offseason is DeMar D rozan I don’t think there’s another player they’re going to acquire that’s even remotely close to that caliber of well even if they do acquire somebody else it you know even if they take a big swing like Kyle kusma that’s not Demar brosen so I get what you’re saying yeah I mean you could still make a substantial move here I think that there’s a lot of posturing especially with uh Brandon Ingram and I think we’ll revisit this at the deadline and they think that they can probably still get value and they want to see where their Seasons at and I and I get it um but I still think like kozma they just don’t want to pay two first round picks and I wouldn’t either yeah I I think the Kings will be far more likely to revisit the Kyle kosma situation than the Brandon Ingram situation yeah I think unless they can land Brandon Ingram as you’re talking about James at or near the trade deadline for what they consider next to nothing then I I I think that I I think they absolutely would do it I don’t think Brandon Ingram is a priority for them or I don’t even know if like they created I I I I don’t know I don’t know but I think if you created a list of players that they want I don’t think Brandon Ingram’s in the top two it’s the moneye it’s the money yeah probably yeah probably yeah I think there are probably yeah I I think there are several things that play with Brandon Ingram and certainly the the his his future earnings are a factor as well well and really quickly on that just before we go like the difference think it was going to go anywhere but we really didn’t know like what Sacramento had to offer what Demar was looking for we didn’t know a t of GNA happen but we knew that the Kings like Demar de rozan and for those that you know follow and and and watch Pretty intently you heard us mention in a time or two and then we would kind of leave it well that Friday night that Friday afternoon probably around like 4:00 we started to get a pretty strong sense that hey like Demar de rozan and the Kings is like super real and I hit up the group text like man there’s something like really really happening here and then by Friday night we had talked to a number of different people who not only were like yeah the the kings are in a good spot to land Demar de R rozan but like I think the kings are I think the Kings got demard de R rozan but there was still the it’s not announced and I know he’s coming to Sacramento tomorrow and I was telling Kenny this story and I’m gonna censor it a little bit for the radio I knew dear was going to be in Sacramento on Saturday and it was like I I I followed proper channels uhhuh and got nothing and I checked in with a few people to kind of verify hey do you know anything about dear yeah he’s they’re gonna be in this Sacramento around like 11 11:30 something like that all right thank you send the message that demard de rozen’s meeting with the Sacramento Kings you know today in Sacramento Shams literally tweets it like five minutes later now I’m pissed now I’m now I’m mad because I know where Shams got the information from I’m like all right this is what we’re doing I already know everything so I’m just gonna dance around this as best I can while still protecting everything at at play there’s multiple people here who could tell you they knew the they knew the trade everyone involved Friday night you knew it Jesse knew it Kyle knew it we knew Harrison Barnes was going to send but there’s still a level of yo this is that’s it’s HB like you can’t put that out there until like the right time a level of respect yeah you can’t you can’t do that you there’s a lot of people that you have to protect with this type of stuff and so the whole like and I remember Saturday morning I remember walking I remember walking Sprout I remember getting home it was like 8:30 it was like four million degrees I think that day oh man and I sat on the edge of my couch with with my phone in my hand for almost 4 hours between tweeting texting and calling trying to figure out if this thing was really gonna like is this real has it Fallen apart is he still on his way all of those types of different things so can tell you like with 100% certainty this is not a bag that I like the the reporter bag that’s not that’s not what we do which is why we’ve done it three times when we when we uh when we heard Malik negotiated with the Sacramento at exactly 3:00 uh like beat’s asses though we got it all right let’s go with that we were with James and I like I didn’t even I had gotten word that that dearn signed with clutch and someone had said to me like hey there don’t report it yet like there could be some there could be a reason it’s not public so I took it to James and I said James can you go to dearon and ask him and if if he confirms it can you get his okay to report it and James did all of those things got his okay so we ran with it this one this one I just I didn’t even at like 6:15 it wasn’t like done dun dun dun so it was just I know I’m gonna take the L on this I’m not gonna get it I’m not gonna be the first to say that demard de rozan is the Sacramento King but follow up with everything the best so the only tweet that I had planned was the Harrison Barnes tweet that was the because that was the one thing I knew if I tweeted that right when the trade happened it would have an impact because we’re losing Harrison Barnes right and man I wanted I wanted it but I knew I knew I couldn’t have it and I I was telling you before tip off of that second game and so that was the best part because we were on that story and um to be able to talk to people going into the golden one Center that day about Demar de rozan and everybody went out so I got the it’s done and I tapped James on the shoulder and I gave James the thumbs up and that he knew it he it it was cold right but everybody knew what was going on I I tapped James on the shoulder and I said hey we’re good and James had his tweet ready and um then you just I I I’m kind of doing a lot like I’m I’m responding to a couple of different people doing a couple of different things but you just start to hear like I don’t want to call it a roar it wasn’t a roar you just started to hear noise kind of gather and then Kendrick hits oh oh it was that quick it was like it was quick okay because remember we’re between games now gotta so Kendrick hits and the volume is loud like it’s not like a little oh it’s a little between record it’s like hey this is a message Kendrick hits and then you start to there’s kind of this Rumble in the in the in the audience and you look around and you see people like are pointing to their phones and people are like hitting their friends like hey we got tomorrow tomorrow we got we got we got tomorrow and you you start to hear like you start to just hear noise it’s not not it’s not an Applause it’s not a chant you just start to hear noise the first little mini chant you heard was a couple minutes later I think not like us had finished at that point because the volume had gone back down a little bit and Monty had walked out of the tunnel to a little bit of a mini Ovation because I don’t think people saw him and then the people in his in that area started chanting Monte Monte Monte again it was kind of isol it wasn’t like you know there were I don’t know maybe 8 to 10,000 people there it’s not like 10,000 people were chanting for Monty but like the people who saw him were and it all set up for like when the Kings ran out the Ovation was pretty loud for a pre-season summer league like it was a pretty loud reaction yeah uh for that group at the golden one Center and of course you know Keon was a part of that they were you know very very thankful to have which I think is such a great gimmick that not that it’s a gimmick but it’s a great thing that the Kings do having an established rotation player It Was Keegan last year it was Keon this year there’s a benefit to those them playing in those games but there’s a lot of benefit for the fans to be able to have that guy to kind of latch on to and then Demar walks out and that that was the moment cuz not like us is playing again this time it’s just the instrumental what is this the pop out well just playing over and over well they dropped the instrumental this time and this time the reaction was loud and the number one thing that stands out to me is the smile he had on his face I I know that was the moment the Kings wanted I don’t know if dear expected that and know I know he talked about it in his in his in his introductory press conference and salute to you and Jesse who did a a great job of carrying that as I was able to to to watch it while I was away live but that like he had a genuine oh this is pretty dope reaction like not like dear has been in major situations he’s been in packed Arenas he’s been cheered for he’s been booed all of that stuff but July whatever day it was you know to get that type of reaction in that type of setting it felt like that moved him a little bit and he smiled from the walk out and the wave all the way over to to finally taking his seat with with with VC and anelie and the rest of the crew that was there before uh dear and R walked out to a equally as large Ovation because by that point I think Chris Haynes follow-up tweet about the role that dearon had played in in getting dear here had already hit and so not that dearon wouldn’t get a massive pop anyways but I think there was a little hey yeah hey you you you you got us one you got us one man that’s dope that’s man it it just seemed like a a great moment man I wish I would have been there for it man because like you said Demar coming out and the reaction uh I I had a feeling just just me reading the te Le I had a feeling this was this was the idea scenario for VC I I’ll say specifically VC because VC is like a um he’s an orchestrator you know what I mean like with these things and I could probably on Thursday or Friday whenever it was like the Rosen is coming into town he’s like oh yeah yeah yeah let’s just let’s just make sure we get this done and I want him to walk out at this particular time and it it all worked out perfectly and I I felt like that was what they were going for and I wanted to see what it was going to look like and it was it was exactly how I thought it would look when he came out the news it broke and they went they went they went crazy for him man so uh that was that was really really cool to see the the California classic and it and it it reiterated my frustration that the the classic was split because I think if it had been a full day of basketball games with the being the headliner you know I don’t know what tickets cost $20 $30 for whatever they cost for a full day of basketball I think the arena probably would have been even more full than it was because the California classic here I don’t want to like overstate it but like it is special like it’s ours like it’s it’s it’s been ours and you took it away from us once and it was a failure I don’t think this split version was a failure I just don’t think you need to keep doing it right right and having you know shuffling up the roster sending guys to play from some stupid ass Mitch Richmond trophy or something like that like this is dumb like what what are we doing we we don’t we don’t need this but that was one of the first things I thought of was in it’s you know even though the the the California classic is compared to other summer leagues is is young man it’s had some memorable moments and and I and I I’m not sure that the Demar I don’t know it’s tough to rank him because I know you can look at it sideways now that moment with baggley and like I remember I have a video somewhere on my phone I think it was the first California classic game and I think it was against the Lakers yeah the crowds chanting beat La yeah it’s it’s 16,000 people yeah chanting beatla which is just bizarre right in the in the setting that it’s in but that was a moment like that was electrif right Keegan last year you know going for 40 or whatever he did was a moment I mean this this this the California classic has had some pretty dope moments and Demar D rozan being introduced for the first time as a Sacramento King is which I don’t even think they did if I remember correctly I think they probably legally couldn’t they introduced him as six-time NBA allar down yeah uh Demar de rozan but by that point everybody knew what it was right and Demar de rozan was the Sacramento King that was I mean the the you’re right the the first game with baggley and and Harry Gil and Frank Mason and tan Fox I I wasn’t at this the Rosen one so it’s it’s a little different but that was that’s gonna be hardal was crazy and then Marvin dunks on uh France Vagner no mo vogner he uh he he dunks on him plays rubs goes crazy that was a moment this is easily number two easily number two this was this was amazing to see from a distance wasn’t even in the building it was amazing to see from a distance and it it it signifies the biggest the big definitely the biggest free free agent acquisition in Monty McNair’s uh tenure tenure as as sign right like we all love Malik now but this Malik when he was signed wasn’t celebrated by anybody but me at the time you know I mean like oh we got him we got him you know I mean everybody’s like oh Malik monk is very good player that’s a good signing and then in hindsight he turned into everybody’s the signing a month ago was significant it felt significantly bigger than the than the the two years ago yeah but I mean this we talked about it a little bit with Jason Jones but I mean this might be this might be the biggest signing in the in the Sacramento King’s history I mean we all know talking about when you sign him yeah when you sign Vlad you were like oh that’s cool man we still mad that they traded uh Mitch I don’t know what the order of operation was but like even if even if Mitch was afterwards when you got vlot you weren’t thinking yo we’re here because we got Mitch and vlot or whatever the case may be even if it was before you weren’t thinking yo we about to cook cuz we got Mitch Weber and Jason Williams I can’t explain and Kristen play together wasn’t well no what I was saying I don’t know what happened first vlat signing and then Mitch got traded or Mitch got traded and then vlat signed I can’t remember because it was a strike strike year as well so I think it’s that one Mitch traded and then VL son I think so so that made that probably made people even more mad because they people were mad when Mitch got traded they they did not like I was one of them I was like no man not Mitch and um the whole point being when you sign vlat if you had a California classic when vlat signed it wouldn’t have been that reaction when he signed you know I mean it would have just been some golf claps or whatever and keep it moving Malik monk I talked about that it was just kind of a all right depth piece all right cool to see him and fox play that’ll be cool but nobody expected anything demard d r Ro in signs and people are like you saw the reaction yeah I think it’s the the biggest free agent signing in the moment that this city has ever seen I think there’s also a um he chose us type thing like there was no not not that the Sacramento Kings were a model franchise when uh Vlad signed here but it was still they very much in kind of their infancy so to speak like they were maybe 10 years old little little over 10 10 to 15 years old 13 14 years old okay and um so there wasn’t the that’s not even as long as the playoff drought right you know what I mean so it it’s the the the idea that after salute he’s playing really well the jorus draft after the you know the the the the the fumbles with Vlade as the general manager the the constant hiring and firings of coaches the Carl the Mike Malone screw up the the mishandling of DeMarcus Cousins in that trade and all of those different things to think after all of that a six-time NBA All-Star chose to play here and he chose to play here because of that player that player and these players oh that’s a good look like there’s a there’s there’s a you know the the ending of the playoff drought we we we even like warned at the time like this is only gonna this is only going to mask so much it’s only GNA it’s it’s it’s only going to help for so long because a lot of people aren’t going to believe in this team next year and that was the case they didn’t believe in the Sacramento Kings the following year and despite the fact they again won uh uh they they they finished above 500 they they they want to play ingame they failed to make the playoffs and that validated a lot of people’s opinions on the team the year before but when you look around the league and you people look at this roster and the way that it’s constructed and the way that they play and the way that they’re coached you see that the perception may not be the same amongst like the the Demar de rozan and the the different players in the league as it is with Zack Harpers or or or coffee boys or or Ryan rillos or whoever you know National media person or media person in general that likes to look down on the franchise so the fact that a player that that not only has the resume that Demar does as a player but what feels like Universal respect across the league goes a long way absolutely and at this point it’s probably a one of one in terms of that signing given like you pointed out when the signings of vat and these other guys happened Brad Miller the kings were in a much better like on I didn’t watch it live yeah the only Sports I watched live while I was away was the W it’s the only thing I watched W was good I didn’t I didn’t even W like I I I was like look I love the Kings as much as any summer league basketball is really difficult to watch and the Kings this year is is a little tough yeah a little tough so that yeah we we’ll we’ll get to that because I had some questions because yeah normally there’s something I don’t know that there is I think so I only I only uh single out the Kings though because I’m I usually watch a lot of Summer League too and I I haven’t so much this year and I think the kings are one of the reasons why I haven’t because I’m just conditioned like looking for the Kings they don’t have nothing oh what am I watching for but I said that to say last night um me and reys started watching a Timberwolves game because he really likes Rob Dillingham and then that kind of like oh I forgot there are some rookies I do want to see like Rob Dillingham was there obviously tan Shannon was on Minnesota damn I can’t believe they got them both that’s crazy Minnesota’s crazy for that one but I think uh yeah I think I’m I might watch a little bit more summer league although they’re all probably on their way out at this point it is Monday it is after the first weekend so all those guys I want to see are about done oh yeah Reed a new segment on the show uh called the real brothers of Sacramento caller called in like hey I need a segment give me two minutes each day you want to guess who it is a regular called semi regish semi he’s he’s once at least once a week regular like when we you’ll be like oh yeah yeah yeah so it’s not TC Buddha no who lisis Okay Louis said yo your co-host ain’t there so I need you to give me two minutes today I was like all right man whatever he took five minutes and didn’t get to his point bro Kenny had a real minut like we gave you so much time like we just got to cut at what was he trying to what was he well that was the day I think we were talking about a starting lineup so he really thinks Malik monk should be starting at the two that was like a hot topic for about two days and it’s still going on right now like who should start at the two so he thinks Malik but that’s beyond we’ll get to that the gist is yeah I want to get back to that because I’m I again you look just scrap the show you’re just gonna have to catch me up on all of the stuff you said while I was away so I could respond to it and then but that’s not it Lis said yeah man uh the new segment real then Jesse was like yeah we haven’t even talked about field day yet so if you could rewind yourself for a second to prior to the 4th of July you might recall that Fourth of July was on a Thursday we had kind of the company hey take a 4-day weekend day off Friday we were very very nervous through that stretch but it was Amplified by the fact that our uh esteemed boss Stacy Kaufman had planned what she called a field day and field day was mandatory and as she called it it was mandatory family fund and the idea was to get out of the uh office get out of the studio and interact with your co-workers who you might not get to interact with as much on a daily basis which real quick kind of worked it worked it was it was well well it did yeah and let’s also point out that uh our esteemed I say maybe go around the room and see who it worked for well you can peruse social media and find out who it didn’t work for oh man but shout out to Stacy who had originally planned field day for the day after the first round of the draft and we went to Charlie and we went to Aaron and said we can’t do that like we can’t miss that day that would be a slap in the fa we can’t right and they were like okay we understand that and instead of Stacy marching forward with field day the day after the draft she said no we need the entire ESPN 1320 crew involved we’ll do it July 2nd or excuse me it was July 3D it was Wednesday so we’re two days into free agency at that point and it’s like all right we just have to cross our fingers we had contingency plans to where if something happened on that Wednesday we would have been live on the stream we wouldn’t have been live on the radio but would we would have been live on the Stream So we showed up at this um facility because it was moved indoors because it was 112 degrees outside at 9 o’clock in the morning sounds about right and we showed up at this facility and fome and there’s there’s teams and there’s signs and there there’s bandanas and there’s colors and there’s there’s stations and then there’s there’s Chick-fil-A and all all sorts of stuff thank God there’s a first aid kitten we’ll get back to that in a second but we’re let in and it’s like you guys are gonna compete in these different events all right like cool some are mind events like putting together a puzzle of a different station’s logo which I would have rather murdered everyone in the building than do that again then there was there was uh I don’t remember what game you and I were in what that game was called that you and I are in the finals lad I don’t I don’t know is a lad lad ball lad ball there was ladder ball there was a cornhole there was egg on a spoon all this Y and that I don’t know what happened with that uh oh I think Jesse got got screwed on that situation I won but how we got the fourth like we came in fourth place I won came in first and got how does that work okay so let’s also point out the the officials who were Aaron and Stacy were worse than NBA Summer League officials they literally like they couldn’t get on the same page as to like what the rules were or what was allowed or how they were keeping track they were just kind of winging it it was points based off of Vibes I think pretty much Jess literally crosses the line five seconds before anybody else and his team finishes fourth well the great thing is they said the the team that I was the captain of finished second to last and the amazing thing is we won like three events including we won D Jenga in like two seconds because our fantastic HR rep Jen Enders was on the other team and she goes I’m gonna pull from the bottom and the whole thing topples down meanwhile the other two teams are playing for like 4 minut the longest Jenga game I’ve ever seen in my life it all PED in comparison though oh man to the way the day started we go in and the first event it’s tug-of-war now this isn’t like figurative tug-of warar this isn’t like okay a modified version of tugo no it’s a rope with one team on each end trying to pull the other one across okay I thought the funniest thing that I saw in the opening round of tug ofar was the fact that our HR rep Jen couldn’t keep her footing and was literally on the ground holding the Rope getting dragged across the field meanwhile our two esteemed officials had no idea when tug of war was over and I’m literally looking at Aaron like blow the whistle no don’t forget Paul from 98 Rock was on the ground as well at the same time little did we know that was my squad little did we know the individuals on the ground were in the best shape of anybody one event in two broken fingers Jesus goodness that hurts his right right now just ah poor Katie from the wakeup call on the red team just damn near rips her finger off wasn’t on the red team that was crazy we thought she broke her knuckle Katie was in tears for about 60 straight minutes she had ice she was trying to get her ring off all of these different things and we thought oh this is terrible poor Katie meanwhile our brother justtin case formerly of the rise guys now of the eagle his finger is pointing in the wrong direction and we realized one event in two broken fingers Jes and the binder broken out two HR reports two calls to corporate all all five minutes in the field day literally the first event the first group of the first event two broken finger I I’ll never forget Justin his team kind of loses because mind you I think they went against rich and ab right who the they were the betting favorites and they came in not playing no games because they were smart Rich was up front and Abe was in the back and Abe is a big you’ve seen Abe on this show before 98 Rock big dude Abe just lean back like Fat Joe and just held the rope and rich just oh man just walked so I see I see Justin you know he does what he does and they lose or whatever and he kind of jogs around the field and I’m like oh man and he’s kind of holding his finger I was like oh he might have jammed his finger or whatever and then he just runs off the little field soccer field Turf they’re trying to get my man some oxygen he can’t breathe I’m like yo what what’s going on then I look at Katie and she’s kind of holding her hand a little bit and she kind of walks off I said the hell is going on around here then they say next up pink and red which is me and me vers Damien I said yo you guys want me to play this game really want me to play this going on it’s like The Show Must Go On that’s the best part about all of this there’s a 40 minute delay in all of this like there was more downtime on field day than anyone knew what to do with does anyone go hey let’s dump tugga War maybe this was a bad idea I treated this like the UFC like the WWE they said no just don’t wrap the Rope around your hand this time and everyone will be fine so the red team and the pink team get called to the and look I’m trying to win but to a degree yeah I’m I’m trying to get it over with now look look mind you so Damian’s pink team they won the tuger war I’m not here to say that if that didn’t happen they I would have won or anything like that because Dam a strong boy you saw the gun show was out they got it it it might have happened the same exact way but I was I was in front and I was holding the rope and it was just really a stalemate at one point and I tried to pull a little bit both deciding how far I tried to pull a little bit and wasn’t getting any ground and once I decided I wasn’t getting any ground I said game over so I thought when when everything just kind of stopped I was like all right I’m giving this thing one strong and if Andy Hawke doesn’t lean backwards then I’m just done so I gave it one pull and I think it was at the same time that Kenny was just like screw this I gave it one pull they come flying forward we get the win let go of the Rope look down the skin of that’s what I didn’t want I didn’t even know that happened I didn’t even know that happened my palm it’s just gone it’s somewhere in the turf of this this Florence Sports facility this fome Sports facility again again we’ve got seven more events oh after this and nah bro I was done I was done I was out of there like I said I didn’t want to I don’t want to come out of that thing with my hands looking like Magic Johnson fingers or nothing like that so I said you know what I’mma live live to fight another day and I got just they they did your boy wrong because my whole game plan was to hang around first place until we got to kickball it was like yeah at the end of the day we gonna play kickball and I was like just hang around just be around just be around the top spot by the time you get the Kickball and then it’s on and popping now and then they just eliminated kickball for no reason a little bum we did not get kickball to our judges credit I think multiple things happen the injury delay in tug ofar The NeverEnding game of D Jenga that was ridiculous was causing a lot of people to get hungry and angry because this thing was dragging on a little bit longer than anyone expected and I think there was also a realization that asking asking a group of individuals to kick and run who might not normally kick and run is probably not the best idea given what has gone on here that was probably a good decision by to be you someone going down with a hamstring during kickball about an Achilles I there was a point so what happened was Kenny’s strategy was working until he went up up against oh my gosh uh Gabby Gabby to God Gabby Jesus and me were on the the ladder toss and Gabby clearly has been practicing for this moment her entire life and the finals were my team versus Kenny’s team and because Gabby is the Steph Curry of of of ladder ball or whatever it’s called um we knocked Kenny’s team out of first place that was it we lost first place by one point that would have been the one shout out to me and somehow despite the fact we won like three events we finished I don’t know we’ve never seen the scorecards we’ve we we don’t know how this thing went down shout out to me who uh pulled a Nick Young at the end of cornhole thought it was a bucket oh that was hilarious and it went clear over the board yeah Kenny throws the bag or whatever turns around throws his hands in the air I tell him brother didn’t even hit the board to lose I thought it was good I aside from uh you know my my co-workers my people’s fingers being mangled I enjoyed Phil day was also hilarious to like we do oh yeah Phil day like yeah let’s all like use this fire show up next week or whatever ready to go bro no one showed up the next week well that’s cuz they were in the emergency room poor Katie can’t even she hasn’t even had surgery on her hand yet it to the yeah yeah she I’m only saying like she’s posting videos about this so I’m not like she put the X-ray on the on the Instagram well she she also posted a video under the influence of pain medication and as I watched it I kept like look Katie’s a she’s a vet like I I was like I don’t know that this is portraying what Katie wants it to portray and then like a couple hours later that video was gone and a new video is up and she’s like yeah I was high as a kite and pain mess was no joke so I took that down because it was a little bit embarrassing that’s my girl Katie though man so it did it did the whole way I Gavin was on my team um Kevin was there as well and we we’ve interacted with him you knew him way before I did um you know we we we’ve interacted before but that um Field Day situation it did have me interacting with people more than I normally do who is relatively new here I’ve never really talked to her too much she was on my team she was the Jenga Wiz she was was insane the things she was seeing with Jenga and I interacted with people more than uh more than I normally do because usually when we’re here we’re in this studio the entire time we don’t well see and that’s the that’s the the the the thing with like us like we are the you know this crew is in here for four straight hours even even you know for Jesse’s post show work six straight hours were were were in these Studios meanwhile um once you get to the FM side you can like move around a little bit but Ken Ken stays in there Paul’s here so damn early even if he were to walk out of the studio ain’t nobody here yet right and that’s the same that’s true with the with the wakeup call as well and and and me I don’t hang around here much I come and do my job and then I leave there ain’t no sitting in the uh the kitchen doing much I can confirm you I’ll be in mid-sentence at the end of ksfm andc will be like all right man I head to El Grove but but still when we leave that show nobody ain’t nobody here except me you complex and usually Charlie and we still don’t know why Charlie’s here that damn late I think Charlie turn play too by the way Charlie played in fi day well Charlie Charlie had a very nerous came back after field day I think oh no I Monday Tuesday or not Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday yeah Friday I think I was the last one here because Charlie and complex left for concerts in the park right like complex left right oh so you had the the short day no we had to do the mix we did the mix on Friday he left like right after the mix oh oh oh got you got you Charlie left before the mix he’s like I’m going to see Papa Roach ain’t gonna be there too long they had a lot of people out there had a lot of our people out there I guess Papa Ro was a big deal they come out for p Friday pilo shout out to Mickey though who won the uh tug of war cuz she she beat Abe and uh en Rich cuse she just had it down to a sign she’s like this tall and she’s like I’m just gonna squat position Mickey was practicing she would get down in that squat position and tell someone to pull her and then she was like I don’t like this so she took off her shoes yeah and then her socks and so people were wondering when you post someone I think it was you posted the picture of the the 1320 crew in their in their gang affiliated colors I didn’t realize this James didn’t have any shoes on and I didn’t notice it until someone wrote like are shoes optional or something like that and I didn’t realize I think James had tried to adopt the Mickey uh technique by taking his shoes off and Mickey was the immovable object and like I said she’s all of 411 yeah and you just she got in position and a rich almost passed out trying to and Mickey just there just there just yeah I’m not going nowhere no so she won her team won ton of War beat Rich’s ass somebody in the chatty house through I don’t remember who it was but can you imagine if we had a chatty House Field Day oh oh man the radio radio callers one hey bro hey oh man come on now Jeffy louber somebody we might have to make that happen shatty House Field we might have to make the first 25 entrance I do think we could have spent time with each other and gotten to know each other better without the broken bones well yes yes and not look not to mention as soon as lunch was over everybody was gone well I think the event was over yeah no no hanging out I mean there was food there we could have hung out well it was hot I think people were like I’m getting the hell out of here this is stupid I’m sweating I went straight to crowd therapy after that I was like this is ridiculous I don’t know if I’m sord now but I’m going I’m going to cry therapy to get this worked out good times though shout out Stacy shout out our tribal Chief well shout out Justin and P poured one and it was fine it it was it was it was fine yeah and like we’re talking we’re talking and I looked over and I swore I saw him take his back yeah and I’m like okay all right I I thought we was okay so I took mine back and and put the glass down and you know conversation is continuing we’re talking about whatever and I look over and he was drinking something else the glass of tequila was still full and so I looked at him like did you pour another one he’s like no that’s the same one and it was one of those oh no oh oh no cuz now I’ve crossed over now I’ve crossed over and the glass is empty see and that’ll that’ll do it that’ll do of course Gary comes back and here you go it’s just take it easy pal and it’s like all right this is what we’re doing see that that’s so that’s what I have learned is when when you shoot something that’ll get you there quick yeah you know you said I I could probably I could probably drink as much as as anybody just kind of sipping you know out before uh regarding Lori Markin and and it’s it’s funny the thing that has has been really humorous to me being a little bit on the inside of this is the way this Lori marketing thing is being reported when and this is actually an important part of the demard de R rozen stories it pertains to DLo and Casey because that Tuesday we were on the air before this amazing field day that we just discussed is when Mark Spears first said on NBA today that uh the kings were a Darkhorse to land dear de Rosen the reason the kings were a Darkhorse at the time was because they were involved in other discussions we reached out to two different people with intimate knowledge of the situation and they both said in different phrasing yeah there was talk there’s definitely interest but it’s it doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere the reason it wasn’t going anywhere is because the Kings had put together a proposal for Lori marinin and they had put together a pretty substantial trade package for Lori marinin no it absolutely did not include Keegan Murray but everything else that you think think it might include including draft picks for years and years and years and years to come that’s what it was and I found it and and in and and to the king’s credit they put a deadline on it it’s why things with dear happened so quickly the kings were interested in Demar de rozan Demar de rozan was interested in the Kings they had this proposal out there for Lorie Markin and that in essence Utah ignored I was going say and it was going to wipe the Slate of right whatever right they had to know where that was going before they did anything else and when it didn’t get when it was essentially okay this is going nowhere they went right back to Demar de rozan and that’s why things escalated so quickly when wge first started talking about uh Demar de r rozan that night on ESPN which I think was the Fourth of July and then it just obviously exploded behind the scenes Friday into Demar de R rozan being a Sacramento King and at the California Classic on Saturday but the funny thing about the Lori marketing trade is there kept being reports about this massive offer that the Golden State Warriors have out for Lori marinan there were at least two other teams Sacramento being one I think San Antonio might have been the other but I’m not sure Sacramento was definitely one they had an offer nearly identical to what the Golden State Warriors had on the table and as I was hearing things behind the scenes and then reading things online oh this is Danny a on that stuff again Danny a on that stuff again doing what he do and now he and now it’s almost like and I think to Mike dun Levy’s credit I think Mike dunlevy recognizes we’re essentially bidding against ourselves at this point Sacramento I don’t think is out out but I think they’re also like dude you we threw our best offer at you you didn’t respond we moved on right now if you come back to us that means you’re not getting the response that you thought you were going to get from other people and everybody is watching this August 6th the facto deadline where they can you know kind of start doing some things with with with Lori marinin in Utah and there’s a there’s a really interesting window in which Lori marinin can be traded and can’t be traded it’s kind of fascinating but the reporting it’s the most Danny Ang thing in the world is there is all of this noise surrounding a trade on a of a team that he is a general manager of and for anyone that has followed the game for the last 10 years you just need to be under the assumption there’s no trade happening this is what he does this is what he did in Boston year after year after year after year it’s what he does not that Danny doesn’t know what he’s doing not that he is not not an accomplished general manager but his in terms of Trades and in terms of giant trades like his bark is a lot louder than his bite you know what I will say this about this particular situation with Danny age I understand him I don’t blame him it makes p perfect sense to me what it sounds like to me is he’s sitting there and he’s probably like I don’t really really have any plans on tradeing Lori marketing probably sign him because you can all because worst case scenario you can sign him and then still trade him at some point like it just because you sign him to a deal he’s young enough he’s talented enough if you feel like you got to reset the clock on your franchise or whatever you can always trade him then there’s no sense of urgency to trade him now we’ve got money we’ve got cap spay all this other stuff we can just sign him and deal with that moving forward but if somebody wants to give me something outrageous for Lori marketing sure what’s outrageous that Warriors offer that they talked about they said it was Moody kaminga pods no that’s what oh okay so that yeah that’s what he’s asking for yeah so like if if you want to ask it I’m sure I don’t know this but I’m asking for Keegan in all your picks if you want to give that to me then I’ll re-evaluate my stance on Lori but if it’s anything short of that honestly I don’t have to respond to you because it’s you know what it is you like if I’m if I’m if I’m um Danny a I don’t need to tell you no for you to know what it is if you have a trade proposal that doesn’t involve Keegan Murray or if I’m talking to Mike dun Ley if it don’t have kaminga and pods don’t even talk to me or if I’m talking to San Antonio I don’t know who that would be maybe Devon Vel and all your first round I don’t know obviously he’s not asking for wmy but if it’s not that he probably is he might be he might be because at the because at the end of day look I’ll do it straight up pop what come on man straight up officiating from field day well those are two distinct questions where would you like me to start um let’s start with scoring okay walk us through how you scored the events on field day well and you know what if Damien’s team didn’t win that last one you would have yeah well look here’s the other thing about this stason I was putting all my eggs in the Kickball basket and that game just mysteriously left yeah it just mysteriously we we have theories as to why the KCK ball game was cancelled does that theory involve the fact that maybe based on the opening event of War which resulted into broken hands their um that maybe we didn’t think that this team could safely make it through a tournament that’s what we yeah that’s what we speculate okay okay when both HR admins you know are involved it’s not a good idea did anyone go back to the puzzle which was the worst event in history but not yes it oh it was your idea oh it was your idea the puzzles were adorable how would we know I I don’t I wouldn’t know because we couldn’t get it put together my puzzle was predominantly gray okay every brand has essentially the same amount of solid color true not true brands have some of our the event and so some were worth more than others in some event there was only one point like only the first place would get it and in some events everyone got points so it just it depended on the congrats no I think what he’s saying is you didn’t reward his first crossed the fin line and came in um that was a group decision including Aaron and and Justine and Kim and the group decision was whoever walked over first can you imagine like the king scoring more points than the Warriors and the officials going well it’s subjective I celebrated that and they told me yeah you came in fourth pal I will admit that was not probably our finest hour that specific event it was just fine it kept us in running for being first I think we need a field day Rules Committee if you’re signing up to volunteer for that I’m sure our Employee Engagement love that well next time at least do a kickball home run der because that’s I was ready the plan was working perfectly we were one game behind the idea for um prime rib um sandwiches not not prime rib um uh what ribeye and man I cooked those to Perfection yeah those those were fire doing his thing on the grill man doing this thing after what was what happened I cook for Dr Flo too the Dr Flo came over the weekend before Oh man got answer on who’s on the grill those little oh I don’t know about that but those little Banana Cup things I made those little banana pudding cups I made what was the uh that what what did you get you got grease on the on the cement when we came over like that so did you get it up so yeah you got a power washer cuz I I worked on a power washer this past week and it was crazy so I Ed know you’re right right okay you’re right no some people wow I explained what happened after you guys left I did have a power washer and it didn’t help so I started youtubing videos on how to get this grease off of my cement because I had moved what maybe like two weeks prior and I had forgot I told you I started the brisket I made for you guys at like two in the morning yeah that was crazy and I forgot to put the bucket that catches the the trip drip bucket yeah yeah I forgot to put it down and I’m about six hours in before I notice this big puddle of of Grease so I try to clean it up as I’m trying to clean it up it’s gets worse like I made it significantly worse start to like rub pretty much so after so I spent that whole I think it was a three-day weekend I spent that whole three-day weekend like watching YouTube videos of how to fix it and the one that worked was laundry detergent I used damn near an entire thing of laundry detergent i’ put it on the ground wet it a little bit scrub it repeat do it again and then you don’t know if it worked until it’s dry cuz you can’t you you can kind of tell but you can’t see until it’s dry and that was what worked the best laundry detergent GL we got it up Stephen Brown 54 143 not true he had it’s good point I think this is what happened DLo said Jeffrey Raw I thought you know what I watched um some of I think I had seen them all but uh I think it was Friday I was just like chilling and I put the network on and I put some of those Untold on or was it an Untold but I think it was Untold and then the um the one about Sasha and Bailey and Brooklyn came on I thought I caught reys watching that uh one time and I didn’t sit down and back watch I was at that show that was like at the the the May Young no the championship of that or something no uhuh that was the first takeover outside of their facility their full sale and they did it in Brooklyn as part of I think it was the first time they had done it was SummerSlam and it was the first time they had done like Saturday night NXT um Sunday night SummerSlam and then Monday Night Raw were all at the barlay center the only one I didn’t go to was SummerSlam I went to NXT and I went to raw and raw was the night so NXT was the night Sasha and and bayy had that match and I think Kevin Owens and Finn Balor were the main event in the latter match and Monday was the night The Dudley boys came back for the first time in however many years and sting appeared out of a box to challenge Seth Rollins won’t lie he was over like Hulk Hogan like that whole Arena or whatever was just going insane CRA well so I I don’t remember what I was watching oh I know so the documentaries were just running one after the other after the other and there was one that came on where I was like this is incredible I was like have I watched this before you know what it was icons oh it was the Yokozuna episode of Icon where’s episode two at but but well two is there because there’s the Beth Phoenix episode and Phoenix Jo I didn’t even know that that was y there’s a Beth Phoenix episode and maybe a bu I feel like there’s three total and there was supposed to be a a Lex Luger one that just never came out but they just scra you know what’s funny about the so the Yoko the thing that stood out as I’m watching the Yoko one they showed the clip from WrestleMania 9 where Hogan beat Yokozuna in like nine seconds the pop from that crowd was insane and it’s it’s it’s it’s so it’s the um it’s the rock Roman thing right like when Rock talks about we thought we had like the crowd went crazy yeah the 20,000 people there right who witnessed it thought it was great the three million people who aren’t in the building thought it sucked right that was the thing with Hulk Hogan like you watched it and it was like oh my God the crowd went absolutely nuts yeah everybody else on planet Earth seemed to have hated that right but those 18 it would it probably would it was probably like 12,000 people Caesar right they thought it was incredible yeah what did what did The Rock he said something like a week ago that had him people like sounding like or something they had yeah they have the rock lying meme so it’s from I can’t remember it’s from the um that documentary it’s from like the Wrestlemania documentary that they put out on YouTube and essentially what The Rock is saying is is so I I don’t I’m not sure what part they’re pinpointing him lying though I I think I can guess because he’s pretty honest up you know he’s like we thought we had it like it was Roman in the Rock and we thought we had it and then we did the angle Cody left the crowd went crazy and then everyone got upset and he was talking about like do we ride it out and just stay the course or do we adjust and then he goes on to tell the story of this unique thing happened we put the power back in the fan hands and that’s where I think they’re like okay rock Rock’s giving off some Hogan Vibes yeah he is Vibes bro it was a little I said wait why don’t we have Cody finish his story instead he yeah he does have a little Hogan going on he does have a but they they kind of they were they kind of said Cody was gonna finish his story just not right then we thought we could get this match in and move the the Cody thing elsewhere the weirdest thing was that happened you know after the Royal Rumble so the end of January early February whenever that was in Triple H admits he was like we had Punk versus Seth and Rock versus Roman Cody was gonna be left out the hell was Cody Cody just run the Royal Rumble what was he gonna do yeah that was crazy and Hunter was like that was my job to figure out and no one knew I don’t even I don’t think they ever got to the point of creating a plan for him because they Punk they deviated so quickly Punk got hurt elbow or his shoulder just his tricep yeah just ripped that night um shout out to them though for for pivoting is that you think that’s um especially something that high-profile like you got rock Roman ready to go it’s not do you think Vince would have pivoted um I don’t think he would have well he did at 30 with Brian because the plan very much was Batista versus Randy Orton that was the main event and I don’t know if it was Hunter I don’t know who it was but they’re like this this is death we can’t do this so he did um but it’s impossible to know if he would have again like I I I think there’s there’s yeah I don’t know I have no idea I got to say though WrestleMania in Vegas next year is going to be an all- I feel like be Rock Roman CM Punk be there CM Punk will yeah CM Punk will get his main event yeah C CM Punk beats Cody um I think it depends because we’re we’re in August so you’re you’re starting you’re starting so money in the bank reignited a couple of things with Seth so you’re you’re starting to flirt with you’re not in WrestleMania territory yet but you can see it and it and you’ve got this situation with Drew that you have to in yeah and you can’t killing it so you so if we get we’re going to get Seth uh we’re gonna get Punk versus Drew as soon as Punk can go right so if we get Punk versus Drew then Punk versus Seth we’re probably getting a triple threat match at WrestleMania I think I think they should continue to write out Punk versus Drew because that’s that’s been phenomenal Drew is Drew has inserted himself into this situation like I thought he was done I didn’t want to see no more from D but he he’s killing it I think you revisit uh Seth and Cody Seth and Cody and then you’ve got this Blood light thing you got to work out with solo Rock and Roman I think that’s what’s gonna happen at some point during WrestleMania but I think Cody and Seth could could get something popping in between that because I triple threat it could happen it’s for sure could happen but I think I don’t know if you wna I think it all depends put a triple threat because because what’s the angle with Seth and Drew do they have an angle like well last year’s WrestleMania yeah or this you know this this WrestleMania that we just had you have that we putting the belt back on Cena too is he going for 17 because he’s coming back for that that that that’s the after Cody or whatever Cena um Charlotte Cena here like come on we don’t to come back do so so I I was I think this was during the commercial break where I was telling the story about the Brooklyn NXT summer that SummerSlam so that was that was 2015 he was other stuff you can kind of look past the fact that he was just like hit or miss uh on the court because he was one of those guys that you look to for leadership and now we’re at a point where Deen’s been in the league seven eight years he’s 25 26 years old so bonus is older now too and now it’s not just about establishing your your organization as something that’s serious now it’s we trying to climb and win games and no disrespect to Harrison but did the Kings kind of outgrow the fact that they could look past they need to upgrade at that at that spot I hadn’t thought about it like that but yeah sure um I I always wonder though like did did we put him in that role or was he actually in that role I think he was just I think he he earned that role just because of the level of respect and reverence people have for Harrison barns like they they respect yeah that’s a part of it but as you like laid out to like he you know to paraphrase CM Punk and aew he worked with a bunch of effing children too and like he had to be the he had to be the the Steady Hand in that locker room where you you you would kind of look at this team and you are like de and you know we just laugh sometimes looking back at like de like Dar looked like a child when he got here all right and you you got this Marvin and Harry and you got all these different things going on then you got Harrison well you know Harrison is steady there was that actually his role or is that what we perceived his role to be well did we joke that they would always throw Harrison out there or was it like like really like always throw har no that happened same loses by 60 Here Comes Harrison Barnes yeah yeah they throw Harrison out there and I don’t know if he asked for that role I don’t know if I don’t he’s made remarks in the past that made it clear he did not ask for that right right and I don’t even know if it was like a defin like people like we always lean back on Harrison it just it was what it was right like you needed a a tough loss let’s go get Harrison because we know Harrison’s going to be professional he know he’s he he’s going to you know answer accordingly or do whatever the case may be and it’s something that I feel like he just kind of fell into because of the the human being that he is and at this point now even though we you know had the little moment last year for a couple weeks where we didn’t whatever happened happened couple months it was a shoot 41 games yeah well where was it’s like all right well now we’re kind of past that dear’s going to step up Mink’s going to step up D rozen’s here now you know he’ll step up sabonis if you ask him he’ll talk all this other stuff and I think that’s Keegan is is probably growing up a little bit to the point where you know you may hear a little bit more from him um where I I don’t want to make it like Harrison was like just a nothing and that’s the only reason he was around but his inconsistency with how he played you kind of put up with it because like you kind of need this guy here around now as much as we like them and we want them to be around we can’t we can’t wait anymore we have to upgrade from this position and I think that’s kind of what what happened yeah I think it it’s uh I think we over complicate things sometimes when we look at this and what you just said the last thing you just said is really what it all boils down to they had the ability to upgrade their roster and you have to make things with cont tracks work that’s what happened MH um and that’s why San Antonio was so important to this process like San Antonio had room to take Harrison barnes’s contract not just for this year but for for for the years ahead and Sacramento maybe had the had to sweeten that deal because maybe it’s not exactly what San Antonio was looking for but they know that there’s they have room like it didn’t handcuff San Antonio from doing anything moving forward they knew that they could do it um but I really do like I I I I like the idea of I I think it’s a strong thought that the that the Kings kind of outgrew what he offered um and that’s fun conversation when you’re analyzing trades and signings and movement within an organization but really in its simplest form it’s what you said at the end they they needed to upgrade and we always always knew you know the second he signed that deal last year Harrison was probably going to be a piece which is by the way is a testament to Harrison Barnes he’s going to be a piece that’s used to upgrade this roster um I think Kevin herder could be a piece that maybe upgrades the roster in the sense that they find someone in more more of a position of need than herder might be but I asked this at the end of the regular season and wonder if it’s you know Harrison uh excuse me herder Kevin herder he’s coming off an injury and you know shooting arm or not he is coming off an injury and I think there’s a little bit of okay let’s wait and see I I will because Kevin’s a good shooter like is is is you know frustrating moments that there have been last year like Kevin hder is a good shooter you got to respect him if you’re on other you’re not just going to leave him open and let him cooking like he there’s a certain level of gravity that he brings out to space on the floor and things of that nature um I I will say this with Titus um I I wouldn’t say it the way he said it but I do agree that I don’t I’m not interested in Kevin herder starting now I I didn’t hear The Insider say it um I think I caught a little bit of them saying that but I didn’t hear it but on Friday Frank red was on here talking about if her is on the squad you may have to like you have to think about starting him at the two guard and his thought was he’s an emotional dude if you’re G to have him and you feel like you’re G to try to use him you don’t want to lose him you may you may lose him mentally if you just have him on the bench so give him the first 10 12 games of the season to see if he can find his Groove and see what it looks like with him starting at the two guard spot I disagreed with it but I I understand the logic I disagree with that too yeah I I wouldn’t I no you can’t do that and not not that’s a that’s a year one dearn in his third year that’s that type of move like Hey we’re trying to figure this thing out no Kevin this is that but what it boils down to is what do you think the best role for Kevin herder is and and when I say you Mike Brown this organization what’s the best role for Kevin herder well we think the best move is we’re going to start this will be a discussion we’re gonna start Malik monk right and we’re gonna figure out how to work Keon in here we believe Kevin herder can supply a lot of offense Off the Bench great that’s his role if that is what you see him being most successful at thus helping the Kings be most successful that’s what you have to do and the difference between the Kings and some other organizations and I feel like Kevin has to look at it this way if he’s on this team when the season starts is Malik just did it Malik did it for two years he came off the bench and he was everything we needed Off the Bench now we need him in the starting lineup and we’re going to figure out a way to work Keon we have a way I’m tell you we have a way to work Keon into this you’re a part of it you’re not going to be dnpd you’re going to play Keon’s going to play and we believe this is going to you’re going to be that instant offense role that Malik was last year and you you’re you’re still going to play a lot with dear you’re still going to play a lot with dear you’re still going to play a lot with with domont you lay all of that stuff out and there’s enough evidence in Mike Brown’s two years to show that guys off the bench can play and Kevin’s not going to be he’s not javelle McGee with all due respect he’s not Alex Lynn he’s not guys that are going to go weeks and Kobe Jones Chris dorte he’s not guys that are gonna go weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks weeks without playing he’s going to play he’s going to play every night you it just has to be conveyed is you have a new role on this team and that’s where you’ve got to get him to buy into that I’m not sure he’s at a position where he’s and so that’s that’s where if you can’t then then you then you don’t play because we can’t look if you look you’re not all in it’s fine we’ll sit you in that 14th you know 15th spot on the bench and I don’t mean that to be like a jerk I just mean we need to win games right handling business offensively I see a lot of people after the fight though we talking about the fact that he was getting touched up a little bit uh boots was and and you know had concern for that and he was he was he was like he he was he was taking some of the blows as well um but I looked at that as a situation where he felt the power uh of David a will go there and he was like he can’t hurt me so I’m GNA much like I always say with like a tank Davis I’m gonna take whatever shots I need to take to make sure that I get mine off I’m G stand in the pocket I’m not gonna you know give a combination and bounce outside I’m gonna look for an opportunity to put this thing away and that’s what he did in the fifth round you know was it was a stoppage um but if he would have went out for the sixth round he probably would have knocked him out cold so I didn’t have any problem with his performance like I said it was a little bit of the anti Shakur Stevenson type performance he was there tweeted or posted or whatever about listening to the album the way it was created and you know that’s kind of a rule of mine when I first hear an album is I listen to it from beginning to end I don’t skip I don’t skim I just hit play and let it ride especially with the artist the caliber of Eminem right but I thought it was really interesting that he posted that and that got me really excited for what the album uh was going to be I’m admittedly not a fan of that Slim Shady character I’m not a fan of that voice and I’m not a fan of most of those records that have that Cadence and that that character attached to it this album for what he was trying to accomplish was brilliant I thought the Recovery album The Recovery album is is phenomenal MH this is up there though with like the Marshall mats LP like it’s not it doesn’t have I am on it doesn’t have stand on it but the complete body of work and the little tiny details he put in it I thought were amazing and listening to it the first time he gets to that song I think it’s called temporary it’s the one everyone was talking about on social media because it has you know like uh tapes of Haley when she was like six years old or something in it and he’s talking to her from the perspective of he just he just died and this is his message to her and it’s a it’s a really emotional record it’s it’s but it’s it’s phenomenal and you kind of feel like okay that’s it’s it’s it’s not the last song that’s a weird spot for this so he hits that record there’s like three tracks after I think there’s three songs and a uh a skit I didn’t realize till this morning how important that skit was so the record the the concept of the record ends with that song and then he there’s a there’s the track with um big sea and baby Tron that that’s after temporary there’s another song it’s incredible right song is fire there’s so there’s two songs where it’s it’s it’s m or Marshall or however you want to phrase it it’s not Slim Shady and then I heard the skit for a second time today and I realized now this this is going to go over some people’s head the skit is Tony Clifton Tony Clifton is a character that Andy Kaufman played everybody knew it was Andy Kaufman but when Andy died Tony Clifton kept making appearances and Tony Clifton has this like he’s like just this gross like he’s a stereotypical like Vegas comedian with a just yeah take my wife it’s like that silly sound to it yeah when he does that guess who’s back interlude he’s saying things that Marshall mats would that uh Slim Shady would say with a Tony Clifton Cadence and that’s how he brings in the final song with jelly roll and it didn’t dawn on me until I heard it a second time this morning how phenomenal that was because he died with the temporary song then he did two songs as Eminem acknowledging that he’s back with the Tony Clifton skit and then the final track with jelly roll which is another phenomenal just it’s an incredible song that jelly roll plays a a terrific role in he’s rapping from the perspective of he’s gone and he’s it’s it is not to overdo it it is a brilliant piece of art it’s really good like and I I can’t say I was like really hyped for the album I was curious he for part of the punt he murdered it like it was so good and I I I I definitely got to check it out I mean I was telling you earlier like when when you talk about um critiquing a album or did you like it or whatever the case may be I mean Eminem Like I said one of the greatest people to ever rap to ever put words together I’m biased um towards guys like him towards Kendrick Jay you know all these guys cuz I’m just never going to be like oh that was whack like because I I just think they’re too good at what they to me they never ever putting out anything low quality so I expect um a high quality piece of art piece of music from Eminem Like I said I want to go back and listen to to the whole album now um but I I heard a handful of songs and he’s rapping crazy you know that the beats are on point like it’s just like I said I’m just a bad critic I’m also I’m also like a person that just you just got to sit with the music a little bit over time or whatever the case may be because there may be things that I look back and say you know I like this but then I like I haven’t really been moved to try to listen to it again and I don’t know how long you know what I mean so that’s just just let it sit for a little while but I definitely want to uh check out the whole album it’s it’s Eminem that’s I was thinking about that this morning because I I I wanted to to make this a part of our ksfm show and it it’s like listening to this album some some albums are like watching a TV show you could check in like I could watch any episode of the office and be fine it doesn’t matter I could watch any episode of you know it’s been po popping up on like Instagram is it The Cosby Show The Cosby Show needs to be on TV Cosby Show’s do nothing to nobody you hear me hear me out you guys understand what I’m saying that is a phenomenal show it’s so good it actually I came across the the clip uh there was a uh an interaction between Claire and Vanessa that was just it was it made me go look it was like where is it did he write the show to Bill Cosby some of them a lot of them I just I mean yeah like I said we we can all be adults here like it’s just it’s just it’s perfectly written the the comedic time even the cutaways like when somebody does something and they cut to the person who’s not saying anything like usually it’s it’s Cosby they cut to him it’s just I’ve watched a c i saw another one where it was I can’t it was Claire and um the uh the son-in-law Alvin Alvin yeah Alin and you know Alvin was always putting his foot in his mouth and she goes can can I get you guys something to drink and he goes you’re you’re going to get us something to drink and she goes yes well why wouldn’t I well you just don’t strike me as someone who would do that strike me as someone who would do what and it’s and and again like I understand but Dr huxel sits down and he starts he starts doing the the the side reactions are always perfect man all while Alvin is burying himself it’s like and I I legit started searching I was like this has to be somewhere I should be I could buy it somewhere you can’t man they they perfected the the side reaction like it’s just they just did it perfect but to your point though like you could check in and watch it whenever right and understand it this album feels like a movie like popping in it’s not gonna have the full experience um I always looked at ready to die as a movie right but I can appreciate big papa or juicy I can listen to that singular I don’t know as you were talking about sitting with an album and time will tell if I can just pop in and hear like Renaissance is the first song on the album and it sets the tone for the entire album what he’s rapping about in Renaissance is so important to the way that the rest of the album plays out because he even has a line in there about the Kendrick album was incredible but it didn’t have any bangers any he talks about how hip-hop fans don’t even love hip-hop anymore they just complain they just complain they look to critique and hate what artists put out and then you have a crop of young artists coming along who kind of revamped the sound a little bit and then all of the old guys just hate on it and no one truly appreciates hip-hop anymore that is the whole first album or the whole first song of the album and then it lays out an album that I I I read run review on hipop DX where I just read it was like I don’t know if this is a child that wrote this or not but he clearly didn’t understand the concept of the album he didn’t he’s oh it was just all for shock value yes on guilty conscience too instead of Eminem and Dr Dre or Slim Shady and Dr Dre it’s Slim Shady and Marshall mats and he’s literally saying that to him why did you stop saying this about Christopher Reeves because he’s dead and it’s in bad taste and it’s like this inner argument between the two in which every critique I’ve read about the album is in that singular song and I just walked away like you hoes don’t even listen he’s you are exactly what he was talking about in Renaissance now to be fair maybe people just don’t want to hear that it doesn’t mean like it’s whack or they don’t understand maybe they just don’t want to hear it it’s okay if you don’t want to hear it but don’t say he’s uh doing something for shock value when he’s stating the reason he’s killing off the character is because the shock value wasn’t there anymore that’s that’s that’s that’s how I looked at particularly guilty conscience too because that’s another important song to The I I thought about I thought about you yesterday because um with without me was on I think uh I don’t know why I heard it but I heard it and I didn’t really like that song when it came out I don’t really like it now and you’ve talked about how you don’t like it and I compared it to um my name is and I I don’t want to you said you didn’t really like my name is either my name is is phenomenal it is it is I appreciate the record I just don’t like it yeah like I don’t play it cuz I don’t I understand why you don’t like without me I don’t like without me either like I don’t like the song but my name is the just just my name is the introduction to him on the scene and how and this you talk about setting the tone it set the tone pretty much for his career like you gonna get Eminem saying whatever rapping a certain way I just because I I end up listening to my name is after that song because I thought about you know that Slim Shady character I was like no I love I love my name is yeah I it’s one of those things where I appreciate what the record is and the impact that it had and how important it is you talk about telling stories how important that song is to telling his story I just don’t like the song I I don’t like that character Slim Shady is without me and then what’s the other song he had then you have another Slim Shady like song it’s uh he’s got a million of them just Los it is a Slim Shady record um uh The Real Slim Shady a little mix of both those are those are like TRL Eminem records where he’s like a TRL monster yeah like just a little bad kid pretty much yeah pretty much I’m I’m G definitely uh I’m G check out I might check out the album as I’m up all night playing NCAA football well there you go there you go I think you’ll en enoy it I I really do I think I think you’ll like the I know I will it’s it’s it’s himo good you mentioned uh mentioned Frank red and uh I had a a brief exchange with Frank after news of Devin Carter’s surgery broke and that’s another one kind of had that one mhm um um and so that’s why when Shams tweeted I was like well it’s out there we’ve already heard the sixth to eth month timeline we we had heard that we’ really heard that from jump we knew something was wrong um and Monty had talked a little bit they knew there was an injur they had publicly talked about the injury um they just didn’t talk about to what extent but Frank and someone else were having I I don’t know if Frank tagged me and then someone responded to or not not tagged me I think Frank might have responded to that that six to eight Monon post that I put up and then someone responded to Frank and that was kind of the point where I was like okay let me chime in here because the thought was well why didn’t the Kings know about this the Kings did know like the Kings knew he was injured I I don’t I don’t want to I don’t think I’m overstating this I think everybody knew everybody they that point of the reason why he went from top five to 13 like that’s got a lot to do with I don’t I don’t know what he’s discussed on The Insider so I don’t want to put too much like James had this a a while ago from way outside Sacramento and when he brought it to me I took it somewhere else we got it like triple confirmed it’s like all right maybe maybe the maybe the evaluation was wrong because the Kings hadn’t announced anything and then of course the the Shams tweet goes out it was like well I think this timeline we got was spot on and then the Kings announced the timeline that we had was spot on and but the point was they knew they knew when they drafted him and then it caused me there was something Monty said in his press conference that I think was that night it stood out to me but I didn’t think anything of it in the moment but I thought a lot more about it that day was he was like you don’t draft for right now you draft for the future when you when you take the best player available you draft a guy that you think is going to be able to help your franchise moving forward and I think a lot of us hear that and you think yeah they’re they’re drafting a guy that they believe is going to work for them in the long term no he meant right now I’m not drafting this guy for right now because he’s going to have shoulder surgery uh but he’ll be ready for us hopefully uh later on in the year but we’ve learned obviously now that he’s going to be out for um at least until the start of the calendar year yeah and and you know he still may help out this year you know what I mean i’ I’ve laid out the timeline potentially um like a almost like a a trade deadline acquisition you know around that time where you know he gets to play I don’t know if we’ll see the true Devin Carter this season because you know it’s just a wonky start to his NBA career not even really getting an offseason to work on stuff yeah he doesn’t get his NBA legs under him at all right right so you know we I don’t think we’ll see everything that he has to offer until probably year or two but he can still you know Ste some minutes you know with uh late in the season and things of that nature I um I I I look at this situation with Monty drafting him at 13 and I understand it while at the time I wanted him to NE to make a move I wanted kosma and some of the other people we heard I understand it in the aspect of I don’t know if there’s anybody in this draft that’s going to help that was going to help you this year I think there there are a bunch of projects and there are a bunch of guys who weren’t going to come in I shouldn’t say help you but like drastically impact what you’re doing because I didn’t think there were any starters in there D connect might have been the closest might have been the closest and he might be able to do something but other than that all these guys are project so why not like don’t be scared off by Devin Carter because he’s just one in a long line of guys who I I think are projects and wouldn’t be drastically impacting your roster this season and knowing the way that the roster was shaking out I mean you had already signed Malik at that point um you had your eye on D rozen like I think you’re I don’t know that I don’t know that there was a starter for this group out there uh especially at 13 not even Dalton but that could have I mean I don’t know where he I don’t even know where he would start yeah maybe at the three maybe maybe he been coming off the bench I don’t know yeah well you do it’s it’s dear and I mean so now you got Malik and Keon coming off the bench like that’s a tough that’s that’s tough but maybe you’re right do now that we’re um dust is kind of settled with a demard de R rozan deal done I think before you know we all left and before the deal went down I was I was pretty convinced that while it wasn’t like hey all these deals are done choose which one you wna you want to go with Monty I did believe even on draft night he know I’m getting a deal done like there are Frameworks and there are places that I can go to to get a deal done that I can I can do necessarily what I want to do on this draft like I can get a Devin Carter who we know he has a bad shoulder he might not help us that much this year but that I can do that because I’ve got to trade in place do you think that’s accurate now looking back um yes and no I think they had something draft that I’ve never been able to get an answer I feel like they had a trade close to the Finish Line on draft day and I do think it was for Kyle kozma and I don’t know what changed that I don’t know if Washington got thirsty I don’t know if Devin Carter fell and they liked it or if none of this is true and they didn’t have a trade lined up there was so much noise around a trade on draft day like in front of the scenes and behind the scenes and it’s not like just make believe chat like there was noise that for it just to not go anywhere I thought was I thought something happened um as far as the other trades I think they were all in on Lori marinin and I think Brandon Ingram is a figment of our imagination I think we see Brandon Ingram as a fit we see Brandon Ingram’s contract status we know how the league works and we think think there’s something there in Sacramento not discounting what Shan Cunningham wrote at all Sean Cunningham said there was that that the kings were had interest in Brandon Ingram I believe that to be true but I believe that interest was twofold and I think everything that the kings were trying to do was leading back to the Lori Markin and deal so you think that was that was number one on their on their list if you just had to guess like that was what they were trying to do first yes and honestly I mean I think marinan was number one I honestly think Demar was number two and I don’t know where kzz is on that deal or on that that list but I think Brandon Ingram’s a lot lower than we think and there’s probably multiple reasons for it but I think Ingram is a lot lower on a a fictitious wish list than we think there’s um or originally thought I should say there’s there’s something that that I mentioned um throughout the week last week uh when it comes to Demar de rozan and yeah his press conference and you know there was just there’s just shout out to Demar for the hoodie and the the the vest it was the hottest day of the year Big Ups need to add anymore I’m looking more at these super role players like a FY Smith or Cam Johnson is kind of on the he Teeters back and forth between a super role player and a guy like Kyle kosman I’m looking more like those guys not like the super in super scoring type of of a play I’d be surprised if they made a I I’d be surprised if they still had inquiries about Kyle kozma um I think initially there was I I think there was they they obviously like him uh I think there’s probably Financial things with him that they need to there’s some hurdles there that they’ll have to get over um and I also think with Kyle kosma he’s probably a move because of the number of years he has on his contract he’s probably a move that you if you make a move that has money attached like in a third year when you’re starting to get into dearon Fox money big big big dearon fox money you’re starting to get into Keegan Murray rookie contract extension territory you have to ask yourself is Kyle kosma the one that makes us a contender and and and and and I’m using Kyle kosma as the example find a player who has three years or four years on their deal or who you have to add three or four years on the deal so that could throw Brandon Ingram into this as well is that the player that makes us a championship Contender um I think there’s a lot of unclearable hurdles in the way of the Brandon Ingram thing Kyle kosma I don’t know if they feel that way especially now after signing deard de Rosen um so I’m with you in the sense that like I I I think yeah sure sure 50 to 52 sure I I I I think this team has solidified themselves as a as a as a top six team um I think uh man we we we we there was a group text that I got cut up on a little a little late but it was about the rockets and and our man Kamar and I godamn sports fans love hope they they really like sports fans just love sight unseen it’s like okay yeah there was little something there with Houston okay like I’m I’m sorry we got we got Houston as a top six team we got Houston as a top eight team I just someone explained to me how and why I feel like Houston missed an opportunity this offseason heard all that like oh yeah they’re for you I saw them out just a little bit with this summer they were built they’re building up for it doesn’t have to be this summer like they’re building up to be ready probably next summer maybe the trade deadline or something like that and I get that I think it was from everything that I heard I don’t know maybe Houston was thinking that on their own but it was never like it was never real you know when you hear like the K and like maybe right and I don’t even know that’s what I’m saying they were building for something that wasn’t there I but I was about to say I don’t even know if they necessarily use that type of word I don’t know how the reporting got there not what w said W been shaky at best W went rogue shaky at best but I could see them even if even if it was even if let’s just say for argument sake they were building up because they wanted to make an offer for Katie and Phoenix was like we’re not trading them matter of fact it should be a tweeted out as much we’re not we’re not trading and it’s not all right cool we’ll just keep all these assets for the next guy that comes along whether it’s this guy always comes up like Carl Anthony towns or um he really does has a lot of talent I mean we can’t forget what it what it was this past year they had to win like 10 games in a row to get to a point where they could finish five back of the 10 spot like they they were a middling team for the majority of this year and I think that they’ll go from being a middling team with all those young guys to a team that’s G to be top six I just got to see it I’m not saying this projection that they’re going to be like I I think there’s this thought like Dylan Brooks and and and Fred Van Fleet are like these super young guys who are going to develop even further it’s not a knock on either one of them that we know who they are we know exactly who they are is that going to change I don’t think so good ball players I mean again I think there are good ball players there who have taken on the identity not trying to make a joke of their head coach their identity prior to his old yeah yeah prior to that he had established uh Charles Barkley he is no role model well he’s no one should follow his lead nobody but yeah I I I’m just not as sold on them as everyone else um the the other thing that that I did want to get your your thoughts on about just what I was thinking I I you know we initially we hear about demard D rozan and on the surface I’m like that’d be cool that’d be cool I got my concerns about offensively how it would fit and all this other stuff but no that’d be that’d be good that’d be okay and then it becomes more of a reality and you um you you you dive into it a little bit more and you dive into the basketball aspect of it you think about it a little bit more maybe you even sell yourself on it right I don’t think that’s what I’m doing but I could be the case like n this is actually GNA work out a lot like I like the move a lot it works out a lot more than I thought and then for me I just start to listen to Demar de ro and speak a little bit more see some other interviews I see the way he speaks about the game and being a professional athlete just winning and then I’m like oh yeah this makes a lot more sense and then you got the introductory press conference you hear them and you hear little things that matter to people in our industry that may be fans or anybody just Overlook about how he gave each TV media member like almost an hour like each one and and they all rap they’re like this doesn’t happen like this is this is amazing he sat down with Matt George he sat down with um Jay Gay and he sat down I think he gave him a total of an hour well yeah that’s what can I say each one that would have been amazing a total of just it’s Monday Demar de rosan still doing interviews with Sacramento Kings media with uh with um complex musics Sean Cunningham or whatever hey shout out Sean Cunningham I saw that man but I was sitting there and I I I listen to him and I see the way he moves and stuff like that like this might have been perfect signing and I didn’t even realize it maybe manty and all these other guys in but it’s perfect for the professional that he is the athlete that he is I kept talking last week and I compared it to Kendrick Lamar ironically and all this other stuff the discipline nature that I get from hearing dear speak and then that matches up with the way he plays basketball right in this three-point shooting era he says no my bread is buttered 15 to 17 feet away and you can’t get me off of that like I’m not gonna ride the wave and go do some other no this is where I’m gonna make my living and there’s a there’s a level of discipline to being able to do that in this era and I you kind of broke down like first and potentially first and second choices and stuff like that I don’t know if he was first or nothing like that but I think they came to a point where it’s like this guy kind of be perfect for where we’re at as a franchise and an organization and I I think I think it’ll work big saying that’s how manty and them thought I’ve bought into that I’m a big believer in that do you think he’s like the perfect guy for them right now considering all the the the the names that were on the board um the mark and CR Ingram all this other stuff feels like thear is the perfect one yeah yeah definitely uh he I I I I mean all of the things that you uh laid out right there I don’t think I’ve ever heard media clap at the I actually wasn’t sure what I was hearing I thought you did it at first and then I was like we don’t have a clap button and and I I I swear to you I scrolled back because I was for some I was watching on Twitter I scrolled back which you can’t do anymore and I was like yo the crowd the media popped okay and I was I was just sitting there on the edge kind of I I was sitting on the edge of the bed just hanging on every word dear was saying um he does feel like the perfect player for this team in many regards um I know people want defending wings and three-point shooters or Rim protectors or all of these little phrases that they hear on podcasts and shows and reading articles and all that and and all of that’s fine it doesn’t it doesn’t mean it’s inaccurate but attach a player’s name to it because we did this with Kyle kosma we found the flaws the holes or you would say the warts in Kyle kosman we did it with Zack LaVine we did it with Brandon Ingram we’ve done it with every player we’ve tried to link or have linked in some way shape or form to Sacramento well Demar doesn’t shoot the three the way everybody want all right weigh the good and the bad and it feels like with dear there’s way more good and man how many times over this stretch have we talked about Mike Brown players and mon McNair players Demar checks both boxes because we’ve wondered this guy doesn’t feel like a mani guy but he might be a Mike guy this guy feels like a Mike guy oh man doesn’t really have a history of those types of guys Demar his one his Universal respect around the league or it appears to be Universal respect around the league and the the way that couple weeks have played out there are people who are scoffing at the notion of Paul George going to Philadelphia making them a contender and then one thing that I have learned and we kind of talked Rosen is this he’s that he’s that like kings did good for themselves they got better you know what I mean but um I think Paul George is a little bit more captivating you know when you see a guy that was when they were shooting around or whatever and I don’t know maybe it was my first time being that close to Paul George and I like turn to you I was like he’s hella tall like he’s like a legit
