Dan Bisaccio Postgame Interview | Miami HEAT vs. Thunder | July 15, 2024
head elements Hae is three-pointer not just for the summer roster but what he could do to help spacing on the big roster your thoughts on his three-point shooting yeah that’s something that haime works uh day in and day out on uh with Eric Glass uh sometimes twice a day um you know he’s he’s obsessive with his craft with his detail so obviously that was one thing one point of emphasis that he was really want trying to improve on this summer I’m really happy to see it kind of progress like that and he got in multiple multiple different ways you know some of it was a couple ni passes one of it was a pullup Somebody went under on his screen you know I think the variety of his shots too was something we were really excited about I know there were a few things you want to accomplish with four or five days how productive was the in Vegas uh extremely productive you know a lot of the times um for guys like him first things first you know we appreciate his uh willingness and his openness to compete and play in Summer League I get it you know you win all rookie team a lot of these guys may not want to do it and they may want to just do Player Development and just get ready for the Seas season but there’s no greater Player Development than five on five you know and for him to get even just two games speaks volumes to his character and his leadership and for him to kind of fit seamlessly with these guys was really impressive to see I mean that just speaks volumes again to the guy’s willingness to sacrifice touches minutes um but then for him again you know he’s always thinking of how he can get his teammates involved you know he had some really good drives really good pain attacks and then he made some good plays from there got the double double it almost look like he could have done more with a little bit more MO not not not toate the effort overall but is that sort of the read also that for as good as it’s been with a little more oomph that could be even more yeah you know I always tell him sometimes he reveals himself a little too much you know a couple rim run dunks you know a lob dunk you know we want to see that a little bit more consistently but that’s going to be something that’s going to come with time you know it’s going to be something we’re going to be on him daily he knows it he wants it uh but the most important thing is he took the challenge you know he had three rebounds last game we challenged him he wanted the challenge of getting 10 plus he ended up getting 12 you know that’s something we want to see is that can you respond when you have some adversity obviously you know the first half as us as a team you know we struggled a lot and uh that was a lot of it you know we kind of put on the starters you know they had to come out a little bit better a little more intensity but to his credit and to the starting group you know they took that challenge and they responded in a big way in the second quarter and the second half how fun was I watching Josh Christopher qu really fun really fun um you know it was cool because last game he he did it on the defensive end you know he scored last game as well but he really competed needed and he really set the tone defensively and his willingness to kind of sometimes give up the touches and just play in the second situations you know it could be frustrating for a guy like that you know former first round pick he’s got great offensive skills but for him to then come in this game and it started off where he was making plays for others and that’s the thing we’ve always talked to him about is that your shots are going to come you have the ability to manufacture that stuff within the offense but also just when things break down the karma of that is that he played the right way in the first half and then next thing you know he gets a lot of different shots and they start falling which which he’s worked incessantly behind the scenes you know he stayed in Miami since May with us constantly asking us what else can I do what more can I do I need to do more I want to be better I want to be challenged um and our coaching staff got them ready today again shout out to CIB pal Wayne Ellington these guys did such a great job of getting our guys ready for today um this is an easy game for all of us in general that second game you have a really good game against Boston to then just drop off and let it go um you know you kind of saw maybe it going that way in the first quarter but I our guys dug down um they started competing on the defensive end and then from there everything just kind of snowballed on offense guys started moving the ball started popping a little bit we had fun there were some Smiles so and I wasn’t losing my mind anymore so that was all great yeah you know that’s one of our musts we want to make sure our standard is that you’re enjoying somebody else’s success there’s going to be games where somebody like Cole or somebody like K scoring 20 plus points a game but can you do it maybe when you’re not getting all the touches can you do it when you’re not getting the shots and for these guys I mean they just breathe life into the guys in on the court and the karma of that again is that it’s going to come around where they’re going to be on the court and they’re going to need that energy so for Josh I think everybody was so excited for him they know the work that he’s put in behind the scenes and uh like I said we’ve just got a great group they they really like playing with each other they like playing for each other and at the end of the day you know they’re just good good guys away getting back back all time you with the defensive effort uh think when I sign my contract I got to always mention defense first or else you know that that that goes out the window so yes absolutely I got to say that was extremely exciting to watch we love the offense we love the threes the dunks all that stuff but we love seeing these guys compete especially in the second half they just looked like all five guys were on a string new guy comes in KJ at the five we love seeing that you know he did he brought a real disposition that um I thought just contributed to us again getting out and uh leading the break scoring but overall our guards you know they just really competed on the ball and they communicated you know those are things that we’re going to be looking for and those are things that translate you know not just in summer league but they translate on the court in the NBA too so we’re always looking for stuff like that practice tomorrow or bowling uh I don’t know about bowling but uh I think we’re going to get some shots uh but it’s mostly just going to be film um I think these guys have have earned that day off they’ve been working extremely hard since San Fran we really haven’t had much of a day off since um we started so we’re going to give them that but we’re going to make sure that we’re ready for Wednesday that’s for sure we’re going to do some kind of a version of a bunch of shots there and we’re going to get them ready to go thank you appreciate it of course
