Who is the best player in San Antonio Spurs history?

teacher talking Sports what do is would do how we live and let’s continue this series I’ve been doing where I name who I believe is the best player in each NBA franchises history they’re alltime goat previously did this for NFL they’re all in a playlist check them out have the ones I’ve done in the NBA in a playlist as well been going in alphabetical order today we land on the San Antonio Spurs now for these I don’t look at ABA so Spurs began the NBA but their first NBA season was in the 7 6 77 Seasons so altogether they’ve played 49 seasons in the NBA they have won five championships 1999 2003 2005 2007 and 2014 now two years ago I did my NBA Mount Rush mores by teams where I attempted to name the four best players in my eyes in each franchise’s history so before I’ve been naming the goat for these teams I’ve been revisiting those Mount Rush Moores deciding if I would make any changes for the Spurs I’ll keep it as is uh alphabetical order by last name Tim Duncan lifelong spur 19 Seasons with the team the Iceman George gerin uh played a total of 10 NBA Seasons with the Spurs uh four times led the league in scoring in the NBA Tony Parker part of four championship teams with the Spurs named to six Allstar teams and the Admiral David Robinson another lifelong spur 14 seasons in the NBA uh MVP and defensive player of the year in his career now the toughest do mission was probably Manu janob who was a part of that great Triumph of Spurs with Duncan and Parker but other honorable mentions include James Silas Mike Mitchell Sean Elliott kawwai Leonard and Larry Keenan um I’ll names an active player at the end of the video but in the end my greatest of all time San Antonio Spur is yes it’s Tim Duncan selected with the first overall pick in the 1997 NBA draft as I mentioned Duncan played 19 seasons in the NBA all with the San Antonio Spurs Duncan won backto back MVPs in the 201102 20023 season also was Rookie of the Year in 1997 98 accolades Galore for Duncan I mean he also had MVP finishes not just winning twice but MVP finishes of a runner up twice third fourth twice Fifth twice seventh twice eighth 10th 11th and 12th in his career absolutely incredible let’s take a look at his season by season averages via his basketball reference page so uh Duncan was named to the first team all NBA each of his first eight seasons also was named to the all NBA first team two other times he was named First Team all defensive seven times in his career had a bunch of second and third Team all NBA as well as second Team all defensive while he never won defensive player of the year he was in the running quite often uh finishing third twice fourth twice Fifth twice sixth twice 7th e8th ninth um so just allaround superb player both on both ends of the floor in his career he posted averages of 19 points 10.8 rebounds three assists and 2.2 blocks shooting 50.6% from the field Duncan averaged more than 20 points per game each of his first eight seasons and also in 20067 Duncan average a double digit in rebounds each of his first 13 seasons in the league averaged at least two blocks per contest each of his first 10 seasons and two other Seasons besides that um dunk in numerous Seasons shooting over 50% um just incredible numbers throughout his career named to 15 Allstar teams uh first battle Hall of Famer in 2020 part of four five CH excuse me five championship teams with the Spurs Spurs have won five championships Duncan has been a part of all five of them 251 career postseason games averages of 20.6 points 11.4 rebounds three assists 2.3 blocks shooting over slightly over 50% from the field he was named Finals MVP in three of those Championship Seasons uh just a steadying performer throughout his career was seen as one of the best players in the league for well over a decade all time his 26,4 196 points ranked 16th all time 15,9 rebounds ranked sixth all time and his 3,20 blocks rank fifth all time uh you’ll see Duncan on many people’s top 10 all time list and at worst really top 15 again just a model of consistency known as the big fundamental um David Robinson as outstanding as he was George gerin wonderful scorer um to me Tim Duncan was I wouldn’t saying easy choice but uh what wasn’t one I had to give a lot of thought as being the alltime greatest San Antonio Spur let me know in the comments if you agree disagree do you agree or disagree with my Mount Rushmore as well uh with all these teams though at the end I’ve been looking at the active roster deciding if anyone has a chance to overtake the goat make them out Rushmore being an honorable mention and of course one name comes to mind but of course it’s way too early to come to the conclusion of where he’s going to rank in franchise history and that is Victor wenyama uh turned 20 years old on January 4th just had a superb rookie season where he was named Rookie of the Year and runner up for Defensive Player of the Year averages at 21.4 points 10.6 rebounds 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocks per game so again definitely the potential to make the Mount Rushmore I would say probably the fourth guy on the Mount Rushmore is Tony Parker but way too early to figure out where he would rank in franchise history does he have a chance to overtake the goat Tim Duncan I guess if you ask me to predict right now I would say no but again far too early to come to any conclusion with him but it’s going to be exciting to see um you know what he’s able to accomplish ACC Lish in his career uh over the next decade decade and a half so on and so forth stay tuned for tomorrow I’ll be taking a look at the Toronto Raptors anyhow don’t forget to subscribe tell a friend tell a friend tell a friend subscribe like the video share the video hit the B
