so he was so out of form he couldn’t even come off the bench? This feels like a sales job to keep Kawhi value even at this point. Frank wouldn’t admit to any procedure and said Kawhi would be healthy for camp but didn’t say he was healthy now

I believe team USA cut him. They saw his condition and didn’t want to be a liability or any part of a possible injury. Which is (an already more) grim revelation for us. If he can’t even play this, then this is the end of his career.

Kawhi was actually moving on the court though. I didn’t see him in the select team scrimmage. However, i saw him during the setting up of the offense 5on0 stuff.
I know Durant is the best FIBA player ever, but he still isn’t ready yet. So Kawhi could have ramped up.

Lawrence basically tells us what’s up. He says the decision was made on the third day, after he left. He said kawhi looked great the first two days.
If I recall correctly, the third day was the scrimmage against the select team. I don’t recall seeing kawhi play in the 25 minute video that was released on YouTube.
If I am guessing correctly, kawhi wouldn’t scrimmage because he needs to keep his body fresh with his knee issues.
Ty Lue has always been dealing with this for five years. Seems like Steve Kerr and/or Grant Hill took offense, already had Derrick White waiting in the wings (Woj said he could be a replacement during the nba finals), and made the move to send him home with KD already injured.
