The LFR guys would talk about this too and it’s an interesting discussion with him and Bron. If you up his usage, does his efficiency dip over an 82 game season? And is the team better if his efficiency dips but he’s on higher volume?
There’s an argument for a similar question with Bron as an off ball shooter or a creator attacking the basket.

I don’t think Austin will be the same player if you try to put the ball in hands a ton more. I disagree with the premise of significantly increasing usage. 5-10% sure but nothing more. He’s a terrific secondary ball handler not a PG

JJ is already suggesting dumb stuff..Austin Reaves current usage is fine. He’s hyper efficient at his current usage that’s his whole appeal. The only way his usage should increase is if Dlo gets traded.

I think it’s just more about running sets for him and taking advantage of his efficiency. He should be the third option and he needs to be developed into that. He wasnt able to last season, Darvin didnt know what to do, and Dlo took the lead.

It’s crazy how someone undrafted ended up being better than a lot of our draft picks. I’d take AR over Hart, Kuz, JHS, DLo to a certain degree, and even Lonzo (considering injury)

Where is the usage going to come from? They have Bron, AD, Dlo and Rui. If AR’s usage increases, someone’s usage will have to decrease. Or perhaps all of their usage would have to decrease. Would that be a good idea?

And yet everyone is on here bitching that we don’t get klay or derozan. We need one big center and we will be straight. Bandwagon fans please relax.

I do not think that will end well. AR is great in his role but is not an all star. Overplaying him will be like what the Nets did to Mikal. Went from a league-best defender and amazing 2nd or 3rd option to a pretty good defender and bad 1st option. AR won’t be the first option and isn’t an amazing defender, so I just hope he doesn’t crash and burn when putting up 15-20 FG/G. Would love to see him succeed, I just think he’s way more of a secondary role player than JJ realizes.
But hey, was I just hired to coach the Lakers? Didn’t think so lol…

better tell him to stop golfing and hit the weight room, his white boy body ain’t gonna hold up with higher usage.
FearfulInoculum
He should be taking at least 15 shots per game with his efficiency.
