Derrick Jones Jr. on why he left Dallas Mavs for LA Clippers

all right so you got yourself familiar with the Clippers during the playoffs um and OB you had your run through the finals what made you want to leave that team and to join uh the LA Clippers organization uh I mean I talked to the I talked to the to the ownership and front office and and the coaching staff and the the the route that they was they willing to go to was towards me and have me come in there and and feel that that that three4 role and be aggressive offensively and who I am defensively and go out there and try to try to win bring a championship back what would you people need to know you you mentioned the three and the four first of all what’s the difference between those positions for someone like you and what does it mean that the team is saying you got to lead they they said they you are going to lead and spearhead and aggressive and different defense from last what does that mean for you uh I mean it just it means that I got to go out there and be who I am uh defensively when I was with the Mavs I was on ball best defender I’m guarding the best player every night that’s one thing that I took pride and I I tell them every time I want the best player so put me on the best and I going to do my best

  1. I wont miss him, always with the mope look on his face and he flails when defender breathe on him, so glad hes gone, he was not a starter on the team before the Mavs he was a weak link for the Mavs team.

  2. Because heā€™s an idi0t who made the most idi0tic last second agent switch (for what ended up being for literally no reason/benefit), which mandated a 15 day waiting period, literally right as free agency was starting and Dallas like any other contender in their exact position, obviously of course couldnā€™t wait at all

  3. He will be missed but Iā€™m disappointed in him taking less money for a slightly bigger role on a failing team that wonā€™t appreciate him as much as we did!
