First look at Wizards’ first-round draft rookies from NBA Summer League
Chase Hughes here at the Las Vegas summer league where we’re getting our first look at the Wizards three first round picks Alex SAR bub Carrington and keesan George seeing them up close in person the first thing that stands out right away is their positional size GM Will Dawkins has talked about it a lot over the past calendar year but three first round picks has allowed him to further shape the Wizard’s roster into the identity he wants them to have SAR is 7 ft tall with a smooth jumper from the outside and as we’ve seen he’s not afraid to put the ball on the floor and attack off the dribble I’ve been impressed with his ability to shorten his shooting motion and get his shot off quickly against close defense Bob Carrington his trademark ability is to create his own shot off the dribble and he’s done a nice job shooting over smaller Defenders at 64 without shoes he’s also a really good rebounder which should come in handy for the Wizards who need help in that area kesan George we all know he could shoot from the outside I’ve been surprised with his passing ability and it all goes back to the idea of size and versatility the Wizards want to collect as many players as possible who are big for their position and can do a lot of different things on the court it’s still very early in the Michael Winger and Will Dawkins era but we’re starting to see some signs of their long-term vision
