Knechtā€™s been great so far in these games. He has really impressed me and definitely looks like he can be apart of the Lakers team rotation.

His 3 point shooting, driving, playmaking and even rebounding as a guard have been great so far.

In the nba, I imagine he will mainly be a 3 point shooter and drive to the rim if it is available.

Such a steal at 17, I canā€™t believe he fell to us at that spot. He was projected to be in the top 10 and didnā€™t even work out with the Lakers because his agent didnā€™t expect him to fall so far as well. We got very lucky lol.

Yikes. Well I guess in some ways that gives us more flexibility when making trades as he adds to the already redundant contributions from some of our one way role players, but this would be so much easier if he was 3&D and not just 3.

Defense has looked okay. He’s probably never a lock down an defender, but he’s got good defensive iq already and plays passing lanes well on the weak side.Ā

Put Max on the better threat and Knecht on the weaker one, we’re fine.Ā

And what he can do offensively makes him a fully playable guard/wing in this league. Him and Max are going to be really fun on some nights.Ā

I mean he might get better at defense once he has a lesser role on offense (hopefully) šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

We can definitely hide Knecht defensively with Vando or AD in the right lineups. Maybe even Max if he develops. But he canā€™t be played/shouldnt be played with Rui or DLo.

Someone just has to tell him that his defense is what will decide the amount of minutes he gets to play, especially down the stretch of a game.

  7. If only we picked a player similar to him at the 17 draft last year. I wouldā€™ve loved to see JHS get some shots this summer league too. Can def help add depth for the first team.

Fino is missed, I believe Knecht could be better with a PG able to run the show better than those guys we bought to this summer league.

Knecht wonā€™t have as much offensive responsibility with the Lakers as he did in college and does in the summer league. I expect that to help his defense some early

Currently he’ll shine in a good contributer off the bench role. I think his defense is going to improve to at least above average

I think his rebounding will translate the best, but he’s not gonna get this green light again for a while

He is as nba ready as it gets and will thrive as a shooter next to LeBron and AD. With even more ability to create off the bounce. I think he has traits that are coachable to at least make him passable defensively. So excited to see him at the next level.

It’s not just his defense that’s shaky. Down the stretch of this game he was erratic and hurried. He had 2 turnovers in 5 minutes in the fourth quarter. He didn’t look like someone you’d trust to handle the ball under pressure in an NBA game. Probably best if the plan is for him to run around screens and catch and shoot, ala JJ Redick (fwiu Redick is teaching him how to be better at that).

Smh imagine if we had gotten Jaquez last year and ended up getting knecht now

  15. Counterspell_God

He’s good. We can shut him down to rest

  16. Delicious_Secret8372

I think his defense isnā€™t as bad as advertised and I know he will improve there. His size for the position is gonna help him a lot and playing on the same team as Lebron James and Anthony Davis, Iā€™m sure he will pick up a defensive tip or 2.
