How did you hear what pg said but forget the part where they did offer him the kawhi deal but then he asked for more than what they offered kawhi? Especially after playing worse than harden in the part post season.. he didn’t deserve kawhi money mostly due to how he played, the no trade clause doesn’t make sense for players who aren’t top 5-10 players or star young franchise players. Let’s not also forget that if the clippers want to they can trade kawhi as well so idk why pg didn’t take the deal, pg asking for more money than he deserves doesn’t make sense especially since that would hurt the team by not being able to get good pickups that would help the team. Idk man seems to me he just wanted the money or to go to another team

People also forget that the Clippers only got Kawhi because they traded for PG. They really got Kawhi and PG in that trade. They would've been fine if they could've stayed healthy.

Nobody talks about the fact that Kawhi said he would sign with the Clippers if they traded for PG so in effect the Thunder traded PG and Kawhi for Shai and 5 firsts.

I see a lot of the points made here. In all honesty as a Clips fan yeah both eras are just due to injury. I believe this team will be a middle of the pack 4-8 seed team. Now a lot can happen in a playoff series but yeah they will be middle of the pack for a bit. Good thing is two things will happen 1 we move players we don’t need and get a decent 3rd star to make us competitive for 2 more seasons or at some point they move off Kawhi and Harden and we keep our solid core young players and take a rebuild approach. I know NBA fans love to hate the Clippers for existing but hell I am just glad we are relevant and honestly compared to some other teams we have shown steps we can get there (just injuries suck 😂).
The last time we saw a healthy Kawhi in a playoff run was 2020, let's not do revisionist history now

2020: Struggles from a lot of players in the bubble leading to collapse
2021: Kawhi Leonard goes down with an ACL tear and misses WCF
2022: Kawhi out the whole season, 7th seed finish. Lose first play in game in close one with the Wolves. Paul George gets covid the day of second play in game and we lose
2023: Paul George knee sprain just before playoffs and Kawhi goes down with series tied in the first round, we go on to lose.
2024: Kawhi hurts knee before playoffs and can only play in 2 games and is clearly not himself on the court. Lose to the western conference champs in the first round.
I’m so sick of saying “if only we were healthy”. For the last few years of the lob city era it was more of the same. Now our future looks even bleaker
The trade made 100% sense at the time. Kawhi was great and it felt like even if hes not super healthy, one could replicate the Toronto example and just let him rest more. Even if he wanted Clippers to trade for another player, PG was a great option at the time as well, he was killing it with Pacers and is a swiss army knife of a player.
That being said, I think everything after that was mishandled. Harden was not worth it, and they failed to play both sides for Kawhi and Paul, so they just lost Paul for nothing.
If they kept SGA & not trade for PG13 & Kawhi.. they will be contenders for the long haul instead of getting Kawhi who became useless after 2021 😂
