If Maxey made an all nba team, he would’ve been eligible for the super max. Would say betting on himself had as much to do with waiting as “morey’s plan” did.

Have the rules changed? I love Maxey but even if he demanded a new contract last year couldn’t we just have said we’d like to give it to you now but we can’t and won’t because we want to have money available to sign free agents next year and then we’ll sign you. And if Maxey didn’t like that answer besides demanding a trade there wasn’t much he could do besides try to sign a max contract with another team this off-season and then the 6ers would have had the right to match that contract and if that’s the case Maxey didn’t have much choice other then to demand a trade and threaten to sit out. And we still could have signed PG then probably had a few days to match any contract that Maxey got(it probably would have been an offer from the Magic since they were one of the only other teams with lots of cap space available).
