[Ian Begley] Mark Bryant is joining the Knicks as an assistant coach on Tom Thibodeau’s staff, per SNY sources. Bryant, most recently with Pistons, is widely viewed as one of the top big man coaches in the NBA

[[Fred Katz] Bryant overlapped for a long time with fellow Knicks assistant Mo Cheeks in Oklahoma City. Even as a coach, he used to (somewhat in jest) be known as the strongest man in the NBA. In OKC, he used to to guard Steven Adams in post-up drills and even Adams struggled to move him.](https://x.com/fredkatz/status/1816203555285377165?s=46)

This is interesting. Generally Thibs wants his centers to protect the rim and rebound. Could this mean that they’re going to try to get more out of their centers? It would be nice to get our bigs to provide something, anything, on the offensive end now that iHart is gone

Step 1: Steal Detroit’s big man coach
Step 2: Trade for Jalen Duren
    Step 3: Profit

Investing in development, would not be surprised to see him working some in Westchester; I’d think Mitch, Jericho, Huk and Skap would all benefit.

Embiid is gonna hate us, lol. Bring the metal bats…

a big man whisperer that isn’t kenny payne? kenny apparently was **big** on conditioning, what’s his deal?

    edit: from mainly pistons/okc/det subs

“Mark Bryant is a very big name if we get him. Long time in OKC, followed Monty to Phoenix. Was big in the development of Steven Adams, was one of the few that has actually maintained the good ties with many players around the league.”

“A lot of credit should go to Mark Bryant here. He obviously worked DA very hard and improved his defensive fundamentals. I’ve really never seen an assistant coach have as much impact as he did.”

    Monty on DA:
He’s a growing, developing big who can dominate games on both ends of the floor. I thought he made a great effort tonight to seal and get position in the paint, on the block and he didn’t give the position up. That’s something he’s been working on with (Suns assistant coach Mark Bryant), not giving up real estate. When he plays like that, it adds a dimension to our game from pick-and-roll to iso to movement, body movement, ball movement and then the ability to post him up.”
