Is Lauri Markkanen s trade value increasing??

Is Lauri Markkanen s trade value increasing??

Supply and demand drive the value of products in the real world in the NBA world it is a little different. Timing has a huge part of the equation and what else is available also has an impact. Is the Supply and Demand plus the other outside forces increasing the trade value of Lauri Markkanen?

David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider, takes a look at the marketplace and the increase in teams being mentioned around Lauri and the urgency for them to make moves.

The Golden State Warriors are the most talked about and have the most urgency, but maybe don’t have the most value to offer compared to other teams that might be involved in the trade discussions.

  1. If they trade Lauri before Aug 6th, can the new team extend him immediately or do they have to wait or can’t at all?

  2. Look he may be the 5th best player to ever play for the Jazz, Pistol Pete, Adrian Dantley, Stockton, and Malone…….The key here is that there are no great free agents and it takes years to develop from the draft. All you need to do is try to develop your own existing talent to be the kind of player that would be a star with Markannen. The rest of this is starting to make the fans grow tired and weary. We have a star that likes Utah, it is almost impossible to find. Keep him, see Markannen get better. Make he grows into a Number one option like Dirk Nowitski?

  3. Is Brandon Ingram a game changer that gives the Warriors and Thunder another option to potentially lower Lauri's price?

  4. Why trade Lauri who really enjoys living in Utah? He may not totally fit the “timeline” but can be a great player, mentor and veteran. Our young guys need him.

  5. How can you say Stockton was a shadow of his former self on the 1992 dream team? I'd argue he was in his prime in 92! He was averaging 16 points and 14 assists in 92.

  6. We should remember the bible story about the pearl of great price and the wise merchant who sold all his pearls to buy the super pearl of great value.

  7. I hope Lauri is a career Jazzman. I've been fascinated with him since drafted by the Bulls. Where can you find a 7' player who can play inside and outside, lead the break, finish strong at the rim and be so humble. Sounds like the right guy for Utah.

  8. No. His trade value is going down. Nobody will trade with Ainge after this circus. If he doesn't want to trade Makkanen, that's cool. He's just playing games at this point.

  9. I’m not a subscriber because I’m a warriors fan who is subscribed to locked on warriors but I do thumbs up your videos. I’m watching your videos to see the Utah perspective on the Markkenan trade

  10. Jazz don’t need Brandon Podzimskie or Jonathan Kumminga. We have better guards in George and Collier and better wings in Hendricks and Williams. Pass.

  11. Danny Ainge will get the Thunder to bite. They have a window open right now. Lauri for Chet Holmgren, Lu Dort, and Cason Wallace. Get it done Danny. Keep those 🗑️ picks OKC.

  12. It's nearly impossible to get a player of his ilk to be happy in Utah. U better keep him. He's the cog to the wheel I'm 58 jazzman my whole life

  13. Stockton made all nba, all star, was on his 8th year. He was doing what Nash did on his mvp year. He was shadow by 98, 99. Not 92 David. Do better next time.

  14. Imho, Utah’s top priority in a Lauri trade should not be the picks (picks would be a close second). It should be the returning young talent. If Utah is trading with OKC, JWill is coming back, or hang up the phone. If they are trading with Houston, Jabari and Amen are coming back, or hang up the phone. Golden State just doesn’t have the juice.
Lauri is an awesome player, early in his prime. 100%, all good, just keeping him.
If teams don’t want to blow Ainge away with their offers, they can kick rocks.

  15. The thing with Lauri is his durability issues. He does play well but I won’t consider it great per se. The Jazz should value him as a key trade piece more than a star player for the team. Utah finished with a 31-51 record last season and it goes to show that you can’t rely on Lauri to be your first or second option. At best, he should be the 3rd option to truly make an impact on a team. Either the Jazz entice star players to come to Utah or they start rebuilding the team thru picks acquisition or trades and Lauri is your best asset for one. The Warriors is an ideal team for Lauri since he can play behind Curry or Kuminga for offense and then behind of Draymond for front court defense. I think the longer the Jazz hold Lauri and make it seem like he wants to resign with them would drive suitors away and would leave Jazz to sign him for another below average season.

  16. Wow if jazz love him that much, keep him. He’s definitely not worth that many players and picks.

  17. I think you overestimate the “desperation”. Okc is not desperate. Chet is young. Why would they trade their future for a rental that’s older than Chet and not even a good number one option. Maybe a number three option max.

And warriors invested so much in the two timelines. You’d have to be smoking crack to think they suddenly throw it all away for a less agile Blake griffin when they wouldn’t even do it for Paul George.

  18. Does Lauri make the people around him better?
Does Podziemski make the players around him better?
Is there any player that is available through a trade or free agency that make the players around them better? That's one question the Jazz should be asking themselves!
