Manu OTB stats aren’t fair. He was a superstar starter that was cool with not being on the court for tip off. He was effectively smurfing when both bench units were on the floor.

People want to talk about minutes but I think it’s more important to remember how slow the Spurs played during Manu’s prime when looking at his numbers.
His per 100 possession playoff numbers in 2005 were just a notch below some of the best guard/wing title run performances we have ever seen.
He went 34/9.5/7/2 per 100 possessions for the entire playoffs including an all time great defense in the Finals in Detroit.
To give some perspective on those numbers (per 100 possessions in the playoffs):
2006 Wade: 36/7/7/3
2001 Kobe: 35/9/7/2
2016 LeBron: 36/11/10/2
2019 Kawhi: 39/12/5/2
Michael Jordan 1993 (this one isn’t close but just a nutty stat line): 46/9/8/3

I’m really curious if we’ll ever see another Manu like role player in todays NBA. Not only would a team need to have the consistency and efficiency of basically being in the playoffs every year and contending, but also be humble enough to take an off the bench role when they could start almost anywhere else. We were so lucky to have such a rare combination, feels like it just doesn’t exist anymore with how big ego’s have become. Even with those stats Manu will be forever under rated in history
