[Weinbach] If the Lakers pursue Jerami Grant, I think a trade offer would most likely revolve around Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and a 2029 first-round pick. Grant would be more than an ideal target as the Lakers continue to poke around the trade market.

Considering the contracts we’d be giving up are MUCH more reasonable and short-term, it should be a protected first (at least lightly)

Grant is overrated tbh. I think Rui provides as much offense. Only secondary upside to this is opening up an extra roster spot to sign a back up center. If they wanted to make this move it would’ve made more sense to do it earlier and have had a chance at Tyus Jones

If you heavily protect the 1st, maybe. We lose important guard depth that would be difficult to replace at this point because we wouldn’t have the salary available (i believe not even a minimum before the 2nd apron).

Losing a 1st for a guy that has 130+* million guaranteed is insane to me. Look at the market for Lavine. Look at the production vs games played the last 4 years. If Grant wasn’t wing sized, this wouldn’t even be a discussion. People would be saying Portland has to include a 1st to dump that contract like they’re saying with Lavine.

Also look at Grant’s rebounding rate, it’s plummeted. Is his defense real anymore? Can’t tell because he’s been on a tanking team since he left Denver.

I don’t hate getting Grant, but the narrative here is off to me.

*edit- changed 200 to 130. Got my numbers crossed. Grant has played just 218 games in the last 4 years to Lavines 225 games. Grant has 132ish million left on his deal where Lavine has 138ish on one less year.

The Blazers must want to trade him and are using the Lakers to garner interest because this would be stupid af for the Lakers to do.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself because I refuse to believe that Rob is entertaining this.

  5. Persianx6

I really don’t think we need this guy, he’s not that good

  6. Psychart5150

We need Rui, we need to get rid of one of our guards and the only one that makes sense is Dlo.

  7. Optimusim

I’m keeping Rui he is younger and got the same tools

  8. mobuckets21

I’d rather Rob not make a move if we get fleeced like this. Fucking ridiculous.

  9. Odd-Direction9452

This dude gotta take NBA out his handle lol. All he does is post generic statements like this.

  10. TorontoRaptors34

Still need a starting caliber guard and a back up center.

  11. Grant is a terrible contract, and his current playing style (no defense) doesn’t move the needle much if at all.

Theoretically if Grant can play like he did before the huge contract, then it would be a fine trade. However considerable risk given the large contract

  12. Medium-Maybe9072

Is Grant that much of an upgrade over Rui?

  13. TrifleAble5460

This is a good deal especially if the Lakers are able to get the Blazers to include Duop Reath in the deal. (Lakers would have to throw in Maxwell Lewis to make $$$ work for that but that’s fine)

  14. StoneColdAM

Mikal Bridges went for 5 first rounders. Getting Jerami and dumping crappy salary for 1 would be a great deal. Protecting the pick is way too greedy. DLo probably should be in the trade instead though.

  15. darwinsaves

Ehh, I do that. Cam reddish is a burden. Rui plays no d. Gabe isn’t anything of value rn.

It’ll have to be guaranteed pick tho. No way we slip in a protected pick. I’d do that trade. We don’t need 2/3 players in our deal and we would be much better with grant than rui. Throw in jhs just because.

  16. CabbageStockExchange

We still need a backup guard and a center. I’m not really a fan of this move

  17. Horror-Document-2689

I’d rather us keep all that we have and run it back than give it all away for another average player. We would have beat Denver last year had the coaching been better. It was all on the coaching to me

  18. OrangeBounce

My dream would be to trade Rui, Gabe, Reddish for Grant and Reath (back up big) and with the freed up roster spot, and grab a PG.

  19. Falesteen96

Good trade. If you also get a back up Center or a quality center period, if we do this we are sort of weak against Bigger Sf and PF tho with only LBj and Vando being our wing defenders, personally I might get hate for this but maybe trading Reeves might be the move you can package him and dlo for a defensive All around Poing Guard. You do that you get Jermi grant slot him in at 2, try and find a way to get Precious Achiuwaand and JAVONTE
GREEN , idk maybe I’m to hopeful

  20. Everyone flaming Rui – we haven’t seen him under a competent coaching system. His weaknesses are coachable ones and he has a lot of physical tools needed to take it to the next level as well as a talent for offense. Front offices will recognize that and he absolutely will be valuable in trade.

  21. motorboat_mcgee

This makes more sense then throwing D’lo and/or AR into the mix. Hope the pick would be protected still

  22. mexicanmike

Watch Portland trade Grant to someone else for a bag of dog shit

  23. justredditting1010

They need to add Reath too, we need the center depth

  24. Am I missing something with grant? In my opinion he’s garbage, someone help me out please.

  25. Cheap-Juice-2412

Grant is same defender he was? Not sure he wanna play two sides of the game and since hes already got paid he has no reason to.
