“Klay Thompson Should Come Off the Bench for the Dallas Mavericks” – Slightly Hot Takes

Should Klay Thompson come off the bench for the Mavericks? Was Luka Doncic the biggest MVP snub ever? Would Jaden Hardy average 30 ppg on a tanking team? Do the Mavericks have the best center rotation in basketball? Let’s talk about it!

  1. Yea, I don't think Klay decided to come to Dallas so he could come off the bench. He basically left Golden State because he was benched in favor of a rookie, Podziemski. Klay didn't sign with Dallas to play with second squad run by Spencer Dinwiddie, etc. Klay took less money than even Golden State offered him over this bench issue.

  2. Im convinced people think we gave Evan Fournier 16m a year.

I get it, Klay is not who he was, but he scored 18ppg on 9 3 pointers a game at 39%.

He’s still really good and obviously our 3rd best player (unless Lively takes a big leap).

Those dudes don’t come off the bench unless something catastrophic happens!

  3. Starters by end of year should be: Luka, Kyrie, Lively, Naji, Omax. Omax is the best point of attack defender and with open 3s will hit at least 37% at 3 and has size to guard pfs.

  4. Hot take: I dont think the Thunder will be near to replicating the success they had last season and will be eliminated at the 1st or 2nd round.

  5. That flash screen of starting five is a huge deal for star players. IMO Luka, Kyrie, Klay, PJ, and Gafford (Lively will become undeniable star then him obviously) start.

In 3-4 mins get Klay out and bring Naji in. First 3-4 mins of lesser defense is not going to kill the game. More often than not Mavs would put up more points in this stretch.

Closing is where the situation dictates who closes the game – Klay or Naji.

  6. OMG I’m Ricardo from the video! Hahaha loved the answer. Yes of course is depth-wise and of course I’m traumatized by years of “The Center Trade The Mavs Need” conversations. Thanks Slightly!!!

  7. I think idm the starting lineup
Luka play the whole first and kyrie sit down at the 6 min mark so he can play the whole second so when kyrie sit move klay to the 2 nn bring naji in
