Kevin Durant he’ll most likely be coming off the bench for the rest of the Olympics

Per Brian Windhorst, KD has said that he’s expecting to be coming off the bench for the rest of the Olympics. This also aligns with what Kerr has said previously, in that it doesn’t make sense to have your 5 leading scorers all starting.

The more interesting element will be the crunch time lineup in a close game.

Ignoring NBA stats and reputations, the best players to me have been KD, LeBron, AD, and then Bam and Derrick White. That’s the lineup I’d trust in a tight game right now.

Seems like a smart move by KD, but let’s see if that Curry-LeBron dynamic can really take Team USA far. Ball’s in their court now.

  3. pocket_passss

they don’t all have to start but I just like seeing Lebron Curry KD AD on the court together

Makes sense limit KD’s mins so he can be more impactful and have him close games we have enough talent for him to do so

  5. JackieBoiiiiii

This feels disrespectful to me since KD is the goat of Olympic basketball, but I’m sure he has no problem with it, so I don’t know why I would

  6. Do I say it? Imma say it. D Wade is bad on the mic.

Start Lebron. Bring in KD.  That’s a hell of a luxury

Why not just make a different starting 5 for each opponent?

  9. The Ant-KD bromance continues on the bench and I am so here for it

  10. KD doesn’t need to start and put up 30 shots for us to know who he is, he’s Kevin Durant. I know who he is. You know who he is. 🥶

With how the bench was already playing before this I wouldn’t be surprised to see the bench blow the starters out in +-.

He probably would be starting if he wasn’t injured earlier, but I think he doesn’t mind coming off the bench since he likes playing with Ant and the offense gets more focused on those 2 as well.

  13. C’mon, KD was Captain America for Tokyo Olympics. He deserved to be hailed the same way as Fiba Patty and Fiba Schroder. But I kinda understand. When your young and promising team fell short at Fiba World Cup, there was a calling from the Avengers Team.

yeah this team is better than ‘92. No one on that old dream team was as good as KD and they needed him to come off the bench lmao

No one will challenge the U.S. for there to be a crunch time. Serbia, Canada, and Germany will compete for 2nd and 3rd

  16. Drugsbrod

Man they should just play KD and Steph together. Both play off each other so well based on their limited minutes together

  17. SolidMystery1033

Damn they really have to appease tatum trash ass this much

  18. Enough-Mud3116

Bring in groups of players who have played together at a time – steph/kd, lebron/ad, white/holiday/tatum, booker/kd.

Heck you can slot KD Bron and AD in any lineup

KD mentioned today post-game that they basically divided them into two different groups that all play well together, so for the most part it will stay that way

  20. Coming off the bench means he gets to run with his favorite player/leading scorer.

  21. Glory_of_the_Pizza

Imagine how strong a team you need to have to have the slim reaper coming off the bench.

  22. Rock3tDoge

I want as much Steph LeBron KD time as possible

  23. ChiefHunter1

He comes in and swings every game into team USA’s favor alongside Edwards. And I honestly don’t think starting matters as much as finishing when the game is on the line

  24. MRintheKEYS

I can’t image what’s going through their minds right now.

Fighting against the starters of Team USA is like battling the Avengers. Then they go to the bench and bring in the X-Men.

I mean unless you got the Justice League with the Justice Society on the bench, you have to pray they beat themselves.

  25. Shout out to KD for embracing his role but I think Kerr is being petty if he keeps KD coming off the bench for the duration of the Olympics. If KD ending of the warriors ended differently I think he’s starting

  26. dunkin_dad

In there last game KD (19 minutes) played more minutes than LeBron, curry, and booker who all started..

Excluding 2 players the reat of the team played 17+ minutes..

It doesn’t matter where KD or edwards starts, they still making a huge impact on the game..

  27. alien_from_Europa

I’m hoping Holiday comes back as well.

  28. side-dude

Kinda weird considering his Tokyo carry job , but he’s cool with it.

  29. Jibber_Fight

That’s fine. Ha ha. He’s established as one of the greatest of all time. This is likely the deepest team we’ve ever put into the Olympics. It’s crazy stacked with talent and they are just now starting to click. That’d be a pretty scary team to play against.
