Jamal Murray was an absolute ball stopper anytime he touched it. Even with time ticking down, had no urgency. Weird games from him and a really bad tournament. Wonder if injury worries with a big contract coming up plays a part? If he’s that concerned, then don’t come?

* SGA, RJ, & Dort are the only Canada players that should feel good about how they played today
* Canada needs good bigs desperately
* France with both insane backcourt and frontcourt play are a tough matchup for anyone
* Not only was Jamal Murray bad shooting the ball, but he was an absolute black hole on offense when he had the ball
* Shout out to Yabusele, Lessort, & Cordinier. I was unfamiliar with y’alls game

Turns out Canada didn’t luck out with being drawn into the non US side of the quarter finals. First game that France has looked okay in too, they did get a lot of calls their way but they had no way to defend the paint other than fouling.
Wemby has got to get some go to post move. Even with his frame now, I know its hard for him to get position but it was food down there if he had just a simple go to move.

Unless the box score is wrong, Nembhard playing almost 15 minutes and not putting up a single shot is just terrible game management by Canada, especially when Dillon Brooks is putting up 9 (he shot 1/9 btw).

And how can I forget Fournier the phoenix, back from his ashes ? I completely lost it when he nailed that wild three from 35ft a few minutes out from the end of the game. Absolutely incredible. Props to that man because he’s been made fun of and criticized for the better part of two years.

as a german I`m not sure if i should be happy that france took care of canada for us or fearful of overconfidence and then losing against a revitalized french team

This is why you need bigs, canadas team was not ready for that kind of pressure in the paint and they sorely lack any sort of size from sf to centre.
the free throw disparity even with soft calls going frances way is a result on not being able to contain that pressure.
Yabusele was phenomenal tonight especially that first half.
