Maybe because our tallest player is 6’8 and didn’t stand any chance VS real bigs
Shooting all them brick 3's at the start of the game ruined them. What a terrible game plan.
The French Refs rigged the game!
Why is Ariel helwani here ahaha
Look how step the on the floor they’re were laughing then they got slapped
Shai did his thing and same with RJ, you can say what you want about Brooks but he and Dort did their job defensively. But Murray really wasnt there since the first game against Greece.
The foul difference is crazy but it suck cuz we were expected to medal, at the very least Bronze…
Four words that cause Canada's loss . . . lack of mental toughness!
Canada specifically built there Team too beat the U.S., too there detriment they underestimated France.
They called that foul in the last second in the Japan game to make it here. That wasn’t a foul. I knew it was cooked before the game even started.
The refs gave France some gimmies, but with all the bricks they were chucking up I think we made a couple schools out of them. They were not good, we lack size and by extension means we struggle rebounding. They just weren't dialed in. I think surviving and sort of dominating the group of death may have gotten in their heads. You are not so good that you can come in half assed and win. No matter who you face.
It's easy to blame the referees. If you had players who could cope with the physicality inside and not just foul players like Lessort inside, you would have faired better
Poor reffing, but that's to be expected. Canada had an awful start scoring 10 point in the 1st quarter. Nobody else besides SGA and RJ showed up. Jamal's also been a nonfactor this entire Olympics
Innocent bystander but many questionable calls/non calls which in a close game can be the difference. In the end only SGA and RJ showed up tonight. I'm sad as I wanted to see USA vs Canada for Gold. Hopefully USA gets past Serbia but no matter what, we are in for a treat for the next 3 Olympic basketball games.
Stop crying, most of them fouls are legit. France got a beast down there
They were tentative because of wenbanyama…jamal murray has some injury for sure for playing like this..france played physical all game and when canada played physical, refs would call them fouls..need more mobile bigs in 2028…Germany will blast this French team for sure!..GERMANY is a TEAM,..french will be toasted in the semis..
Ur complaining abt free throws maybe tell them to work on their aggressiveness to da paint🤣🤣
Officiating
They suck. All Canadian athletes beside Summer McIntosh and Ethan Katzberg are all garbage..Im ashamed to be Canadian
By the way, you guys completely underrated France.
2 names: Jamal Murray and Dillon brooks. At least Brooks was trying, Murray looked like he was at a practice he didn't intend on going. You couldn't tell that guy was an NBA champion.
Can't complain about the refs when it was obvious France just played better than us. No one outside of SGA was able to buy a bucket and our coaching was non-existent. Why did we play Jamal Murray so much in the 3rd and 4th when it was obvious he was struggling? We deserved to L on this one.
This team is a whole foul magnet. But congratulations to some dude name "lessort" who's not even in the nba yet completely dominated this team. You couldn't get these guys to stop fouling him to save their lives.
Kept telling myself Jamal was gonna show up eventually … boy was I wrong
France better that game. More agressive in the paint Canada could not defend without fouling it’s a fact. Allez les bleus 🙌
Flawed team from the get go. Stacked with small guards and wings and sorely lacking size up front. Very unbalanced team.
Canadian basketball players think they are playing the US for gold from day 1😢
The French basketball at the 2024 Olympics reminds me of South Korean football at the 2002 World Cup.
Doubt USA will have any trouble against France even with a home crowd and a biased whistle
Our team looked lifeless today. Such a shame. Where’s the heart?
We can't single out and isolate Jamal Murray for his faults. He wasn't the only reason Canada lost. It's a team game and we lost fair and square to a France team that was much more hungry for the win. The French defense was right up on every Canadian's possession of the ball on offense and Team Canada would just turn the ball over to France. Time after time.
Pre Olympics Rowan Barrett was acting all snug with a touch of arrogance when talking about putting the 2024 Paris team together – really smelling himself. Rowan Barrett lacks the killer instinct needed to led the program acting like this is a participation league instead of the Olympics when you take your best 12 players. Then when the training camp list was made available he had all sorts of players that shouldn't have been in training camp like the Thomas Scrubb, Phil Scrubb, Trae Bell-Haynes, Kyle Alexander. He should have taken an all NBA roster to camp and Paris even without Wiggins and Edey. No reason for Ejim or Birch to be on the roster. Boucher and Banton would have been much better overall. CoJo could have been the veteran pg to steady the team in a game like the France one. Tristan Thompson could have gave the team some inside fortitude. Didn't even try to naturalize a player even though center was the weak spot on the roster. Poeltl would have been a nice addition as a potential naturalized player. 2028… what awaits?
It was lovely to be able to watch the game after we already knew who won. Thank you CBC!
Canada sucked, that's all.
Considering it's been 20years since Canada was last in this tournament, I don't think it's the huge disaster everyone seems to think. Look, if it wasn't for the first 5 minutes Canada's right there. This isn't going to be like 20 years ago. Shai will be in LA, Barrett, Murray, and Dort will all be there. Add Edey, Mathurin, Sharpe, and Primo will be coming up. Who knows? Maybe Olivier Rioux sneaks in. My point is, am I hugely disappointed? Yes, but there may be an even better team coming. So, chins up boys, it won't be more than 2 decades til your back and challenging again.
They are the host country… look at Japan game four point play to TIE❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Canadian team acted arrogantly, they played like they already won the gold medal.
LOOOOOOOL,
Youre complaining about FT but your frontcourt dont know half of the Fiba rules. So ridiculous. Go watch the game of Dillon Brooks again and you will be shocked by the stupid fouls that he comitted.
In addition to this, most of the foul has been provocated in the paint by our bigs. So, we didn't have that much fouls without FT.
Youre ridiculous to react like this, maybe it should have been better to complain about the match of Brooks, Murray, your entire front line who didn't know to defend against real tough bigs… And your coach who are not even able to put a zone defense line, that"s a fundamental against this kind of team.
Donovan Bennett is getting paid to analyse like an alcoholic in a pub ?
Lack of quality in the paint. Lack of FIBA knowledge. The FT are legit. Sorry for Canada but your loss is 100% on yours
Jamal Murray – This is what happens when a player chooses to not play FIBA basketball for 9 years then all of a sudden decides to show up in 2024. The FIBA game is different, heck, even the ball is different. Murray needed to start getting his Team Canada reps in like 5 years ago.
