Of course we SHOULD be alarmed. His next max contract isnā€™t about what he has done in the past, but about what he can do in the future. Since the Championship run he has looked out of shape, tired and injury prone.

Not great when you are effectively tying Jokic prime years to this max contract.

  2. Smh. No. Itā€™s the Olympics, let it go. Now if he comes in out of shape for preseason in October, then absolutely.

I am.. he looked terrible for Canada during this Olympic run.

The thing I hate the most about this is the new national narrative that Jamal is only good when playing with Jokic..

I hope he bounces back, but his play has not been encouraging in the last few months.. sucks for him this poor play is happening with his contract extension being negotiated.

Looks gassed (which KCP said all of the Nuggets were) and likely compounded by that lingering calf injury (which can be quite troublesome)

So tired of seeing this same sh*t day after day. Y’all need a summertime hobby besides freaking out about what the Nugs players do in the summer.

  6. Yes, he looks bad in all the ways that are concerning-maybe injured, out of shape, lack of burst and athleticism etc. Anyone who is not at least a little worried about him going forward and talking about 2023 is sticking their head in the sand.

He needs to prove that he can take his fitness, the regular season, and his responsibility as the team’s number 2 seriously.

  7. I was alarmed when we decided to run it back for the 2nd straight offseason while everyone else has caught up.

Im depressed that he will take a (deserved) max and we will be strapped for the forseable future, have to grind the starters into the dirt, and pry lose some to injury along the way.

I still pray that between Braun and Watson one of them exceeds expectations, and if its Watson that we can move on from MPJ to clear room for him. That trade hopefully bringing a great bench leader and giving the starters rest over the season.

    >All this consternation could well be hyper-reactive. One bad postseason and a handful of wonky games on a different roster shouldnā€™t be enough to snuff out Murrayā€™s pedigree and worthiness.

For all the folks in here that clearly can’t be bothered to read past the headline

Heā€™s the best we got but the odds of future nba fans looking back and saying ā€œjust imagine if jokic had a legitimate all star teammate, how many championships would they have wonā€ are high

I’m slightly concerned, it is kind of nice to be the underdogs again though imo. Jamal has comintued to prove that when the lights are brightest he shows up, with that being said this playoffs as well as the Olympics were tough to watch. I hope he can get healthy and get in better shape because he will almost certainly sign that insane contract. Silver lining is we still have jokic who is pretty good at basketball

He should hear the noise and get his shit together. He looks unfocused, injured and tired

Anyone that has watched Jamal can seeā€¦ he looks very very diminished. And not just because of his role on team Canada. Watch some highlights of him in the bubble and the title run, and then compare it to him in these playoffs and the Olympics. He has lost something major and Iā€™m concerned if he gets it back.

This combined with the Holmes injuryā€¦ Are the Nuggets actually cursed? Feels like Nugglyfe coming back for revenge.

  13. Icy_Mammoth1391

Nah he should use this as motivation to ball out and get another chip

  14. chizzmaster

Of course I’m worried, but what else can we do? There are zero PGs available that are upgrades we can afford.

looked poor in the playoffs and in the olympics, so there is realistically some worry to be had but itā€™s not nearly time to give up on him. hope a summer of rest and rehabilitation can do some good. still my personal favorite nugget of all time and iā€™ll ride with him til the end. really hoping a lot of people will eat their words come next years playoffs because if anyone rises to the occasion i know the blue arrow will !
