[Myron Medcalf] More than anything, I hope this experience teaches Anthony Edwards that loving basketball alone won’t be enough. KD, Steph, LeBron … they’re obsessed. Every game is the NBA Finals to them. Getting tired in a playoff series isn’t an option for them. Can’t be for him either. Ever.

Wtf even is this supposed to mean?
It’s like there’s this assumed setup that is I don’t know what it is …
I think it’s fair to say he’ll learn quite a bit being around these guys and on this kind of stage.
Espn just be hiring whoever now huh
Dude sounds like he thinks he is a writer for a TV show
This is weird considering how much ANT works out and works on his game. You don’t see him in the mix with a bunch of celebrities or at parties/events all the time.
This is insane, one bad game after dominating the whole Olympics and all of a sudden people question his work ethic and potential… wtf
ThEy wAnTeD iT mOrE!!!🫠
Basketball media:
[*Curry playing poorly in first 4 Olympic games before waking up in the semi final*]
I sleep
[*Ant plays poorly in 1 games after being one of the best for first 4 Olympic games*]
Why isn’t Ant as good as 3 Hall of Famers at 23?! Does he even care about basketball?! Do better!
I think people are looking too deep into this. I think he’s saying Ant has the potential, but he got to see up close what it takes to be one of the goats deep into his career. What separates the great players from the best of all time players.
This is rich considering how prevalent “game management” is and how outspoken Ant is against it. He’s fucking human, he ran out of gas in his first ever deep playoff run at 22 years old. I hate basketball discourse lol it’s so bad.
Every game is a finals to them, except the first 3 games where Steph wasn’t that great but still.
Myron shoudve posted this when ant was consistently a top player the first 4 games and Steph was at or near the bottom.
I will understand that statement 2 years ago when in his preseason and start of the year he was not on his best state (mind and body) but he worked hard and changed his attitude and work ethics.
I think the writer is trying to say he needs to approach every game as a final and not let go now that he is becoming more known and his team has reached finals.
In all cases the way it’s written doesn’t sound like an advice but like critism!
Before Ant got drafted: “He doesn’t love basketball enough”
Ant as an Olympian: “Loving basketball won’t be enough”
Why did he write this.
Stuff like this is how you know Ant has made it
Dude is stuck in the mud with the pre-draft takes. IIRC Ant is the leading scorer in the team ffs.
He will be fine. He just had the longest season of his career. The conditioning will improve.
Jesus. Just because Ant is joyful doesn’t mean he isn’t also a really hard worker. Just because he had a shitty game on a big stage doesn’t mean he doesn’t study the game and try to improve himself. This is such a weird take that feels rooted in some Protestant work ethic shit…people always grouse about players not appearing completely exhausted and broken down by their jobs as though that’s an indication that they don’t take things seriously enough.
ant needs to work on his handle.
Pure word salad.
Youngest guy on the team does not deserve this level of scrutiny for a rough game. It’s not like he kept chucking the team out of the game
“Getting tired in a playoff series isn’t an option for them”
Lmao, I’ve seen all three of those dudes absolutely & clearly gassed in a playoff series numerous times. This writer needs to chill with the rah rah hyperbole bullshit.
What a bunch of gibberish
Totally agree.
It’s mild criticism; I don’t think we need to take it too much to heart. He gets by a lot on pure talent, and he’s capable of even more. That’s a good thing. It’s not an insult against his trajectory, just that it was a game that exposed his limitations in making high-quality decisions in real-time.
Some people are really trying hard to overlook Ant’s accomplishments and put the magnifying glass on all of his shortcomings.
Lame
Who the fook is this guy?!
Just another air head with no knowledge of the sport he covers, all I know is that Ant has improved dramatically every single season on both ends.
