He declined a lot athletically after the injuries, his first step isn’t what it used to be, of course it barely matters for his individual scoring because he went from like an elite mid range shooter to like the best mid range shooter of all time % wise

This is why it’s ridiculous when people bring up KD losing in the playoffs post-Achilles in 2022 or 2024 and say stuff like “this is who KD always was without the Warriors” lol

He’s done a great job adapting to the lost speed but anyone who actually watched the 2010s knows that he moved differently in OKC and put up incredible numbers in a far less inflated era

You’re not going to put Grant Williams or Karl-Anthony Towns on this version of KD without him blowing by them and getting to the rim every time lmao

    Brendan Haywood. There’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.

Hope I’m not the only one but the Mavs court look so aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Early 2010s games in general looked so aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I still can’t believe OKC had KD, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, and NO RING!!!

Dude is 7foot on a bad day he is 6.11 is it that impressive that he can dunk ?

Thank you for posting this. I had almost forgotten

People just be throwing around the word “underrated”. Who tf is saying young KDs athletic ability is underrated. He was well known for for his athleticism in his youth

  9. AcidofilusRex

The coolest thing about this is he got up on his own instead of waiting however long it would take for teammates to come help.

Crowds don’t crowd the way they used to anymore.

“Excuse me, I got an appointment with the rim.”

    -prime Mark Jackson

Everything is ”underrated” with some old clips like. Naah

  13. Glowwerms

Seems like he might’ve been lifted up a bit by Haywood’s body but still holy fuck the top of his arm was basically at the top of the backboard

    I don’t think anyone really denied his athleticism. He’s a great player but he’ll never escape the sentiment that “KεV!N DUR@NT !s @ $N@KE th@t C@NT W!N w!thøµt @ sυpεrtε@m” 🤬🤬

  15. BRedd10815

Watching him at Texas was insane. He was so much more athletic than anyone on the court.

Underrated? Bro everyone knew he was a freak athlete at the time. Injuries amd age caught up with him

  17. famousdessert

He was heavily and primarily described as freakish as a prospect, i don’t think anyone underrated his athleticism in his youth.

Totally forgot Peja played for the Mavs…

  19. PewpyDewpdyPantz

His athleticism was most definitely not underrated.

This thread is making me feel super old.

In my mind, KD is still the young guy and Dirk was the “underrated” guy who newer fans never saw in his athletic prime.

  21. ShrikeMeDown

Of course he could dunk, he is 8 ft tall with shoes

  22. Soup-dan

This is the exact moment Peja decided it was time to hang em up.

  23. Bear_Hoonden

Omg. KD punched it on that man. That was embarrassing. Haywood knew it too. You can literally see the pride escaping from his body. I almost feel sorry for him.
