With Klay leaving the team this summer, how does this affect Draymond’s chances of retiring with the Warriors?

Will he end up leaving in FA too? Does he end up in an eventual trade? Even Steph has voiced that he’s not married to the idea of being a lifer if the team isn’t competitive. Could you picture the FO involving Draymond in a trade or would Steph shoot down any trade proposals involving Draymond? Draymond mentioned if he were traded, he would only want to be traded to the Pistons. What do you all think?

He’s retiring after his contract ends. There’s really no other conclusion to his career unless warriors gets kings ransom for him

The only way Draymond is not retiring a Warrior is if he’s traded. He’s on his last contract.

I don’t think any other team will be willing to pay Draymond any more than what he’s getting with the Warriors. I think he’ll retire a Warrior because of his relationships with ownership and the front office. Eventually I see him in some kind of coaching role or something in the front office like what Livingston did. I also think he’s more loyal to the Warriors because of how many teams passed up on him in the draft.

Dray will probably be able to make more money on the media side of the biz, would be surprised if he opts to stay in nba after this contract. he will probably opt to save his body, he’s had a great career.

  5. He’ll likely be retiring by the time his current contract ends, so unless we trade him, he’s not going to leave.

I wouldn’t expect Dray to play beyond this contract – so I think the chances are close to 100% that he’ll retire a Dub

I wouldn’t mind watching him analyze the game for Comcast Sports Bay Area for the Dubs.

Didn’t he say he’s retiring after his contract?

I just don’t want to lose more games due to his temper!

  10. So long as Draymond plays roughly in line with his contract, reigns in the antics, he will retire with the team. Draymond said he was almost going to retire last season after the suspensions, I don’t know if that’s real or not but I do know he doesn’t move like he used to and I’ve heard his back is messed up.

I will be extremely shocked if he doesn’t retire a Warrior, same as Steph, especially since the team has made it clear they aren’t looking to be a bottom feeder, they are trying their best to compete.

The context of the latest CBA and harsh penalties for teams over the 2nd apron is very important here, the Warriors needed to shed salary and this off season they were able to shed a lot, opening up some roster flexibility and they are also setup to execute a trade this season if a good one comes along.

Chances of Dray retiring a Warrior: 98%

Chances of Steph retiring a Warriors: 99%

Klay leaving really has nothing to do with Draymond retiring as a Warrior

I think he retires here. I think he’ll retire within 2 years, and i dont think the FO is willing to make trades that involve losing him.

The only way Draymond doesn’t retire a Warrior is if he punches Joe Lacob in the face.

And even then Joe might turn the cheek and ask for another punch.

After the way Klay was treated, fuck all these guys – from overrated Podjimski to the amazing but overachieving Curry. There are no sacred cows. If you can trade Draymond tomorrow for something interesting then you do it. There should be no sacred cows on this team.

I think of all three of the “core”- Steph, Klay, and Dray- Draymond is the most likely to retire a Warrior.

Clearly he’s already attempting to line up potential broadcaster positions. He’ll be retiring end of his contract.

I anticipate a shit season culminating with Dray and Steph being traded for futures. I don’t even think those guys play more than 60 games this year. This is the fall from grace, folks.

  18. 5tarlight5

I feel like after Steph and Warriors no longer think they can compete for chips, Dray might join a different contending team for a year. He brings a lot of leadership value and could be a good mentor to young players. He can also be part of a 7-8 man deep roster on a title team.

  19. Nessmuk58

Can’t see him moving anywhere on his current contract. He’s still an elite defender, but his offensive fit is unique, not compatible with most teams’ offensive schemes. And of course he’s a petulant child, basically like playing every game with a live grenade on the court. Who wants that?

Maybe he jumps to chase a ring or enhanced celebrity (e.g. LAL) once he’s done with his current contract.

Hope he gets that Haslem treatment until he retires. But pls don’t punch anybody nomore

  21. rikitikifemi

Stuck with his ass now. Get to hear his fans talk about him being the real mvp when Durant was here and more silliness for two more seasons.

  22. IBEATCURRY1on1

He is a fighter he will play until he is the Udonis douche bag of the warriors.

  23. Remarkable-Cup-6029

He already extended to his retirement date so it doesnt change anything. klay didnt Dray did, that simple
