So what’s the answer for those of us who can’t watch the video because we’re at work?

That’s so messed up.
As more time passes and more is learned about the machinations of that front office since that 2019 Finals, the more it seems like that 2019 offseason was the start of when Lacob got heavily involved in everything basketball operations (the part he has no business running) resulting in a lot of knee jerk decisions/moves and aimless, piecemeal roster building that’s, by default, led to an all around approach centered around cleaning up the last mess made instead of being able to be have forward thinking, holistic, and intentional roster building approach. The one exception being the off season that preceded that magical 21-22 run.

uhhh he was a restricted FA….the warriors only extended an offer to him and have every right to rescind it if they want.
just cause you sign a qualifying offer doesn’t guarantee you a spot. it’s just to make sure the original team has the right to match any offer you get
edit* also that was the summer of KD and Kd was one foot out the door. there was a slimmer of chance of him resigning but once he said no it was rebuild the roster time
kd did us a solid and agreed to a sign and trade which got us dlo which then got us wiggins.

Cool to hear it from his perspective. It’s just business, but it’s tough being an end-of-bench guy.
Had the Warriors kept Cook at that time, they 100% would have traded him during the season. When they got rid of WCS, Burks, and GRIII to duck the luxury tax and tank.
Not sure what the amount of the QO was. I hope he didn’t lose out on too much money. But at least he got to choose where to play next.

We have never recovered from the loss of Quinn Cook. FWIW, I thought the only reason he was on the team in the first place was because he’s good friends with KD.

Sounds like a lot of decisions were changed when KD left

Cook was a talented player, I enjoyed having him on the team. What he’s describing is very much the business of the NBA.

Pelinka is just a scarecrow in the rice field😭😭.

FU Cook. Good rid.

He should’ve never played as much as he did when he was here anyway. One of the first of Kerr’s obsession with small “playmakers” to “help” steph.
Yes I know in the finals it became necessary to play him because of lack of numbers but he was always overrated by Kerr.
