I loved the IT era when we constantly punched above our weight class in the East. Dude was a menace for those couple of years. I always wonder how things would’ve played out if he had never gotten hurt and we got a few years of IT-JB-GH-JT-Al instead of Kyrie with that group.

IT made the Celtics rebuild 20x faster, thank him so much. Injuries fucked him up, not the Celtics management.

This dude. Does he *love the Celtics and the city of Boston*? Or is today a day where is still bitter about “being forced to play in a playoff game he was too hurt to play in and was given multiple cortisone shots against his will”? I can’t keep track of his actual feelings about us since they seem to change by the hour.

I’ll always love, appreciate and respect IT, but his love/hate act is growing old.

Man I wish we could pick him up for a year and get him a ring

Love IT but he bet on the Mavs if I recall.

  6. IT became a Celtics legend when he got ejected the first game vs the Lakers

IT was the last great player to really tap into whatever magic this town had. He’s the same kind of guy as Ortiz, Chara, KG… Guys that would actively leverage the crowd to achieve absolutely unbelievable heights.

This isn’t anything against our current guys, it’s just different. He’s the last guy I have seen that has fully embraced Boston and been embraced back.

The team should retire 4 or some honor IT in some way. Maybe name a team award after him. The “IT4 Award” for the player that beat the odds in some way. Maybe not even an annual award… something a player has to be nominated for like the Medal of Honor. He never got us a title and his tenure was somewhat short, but what he did was the stuff of legends, and he should be treated as such. I personally can’t think of a time where I was moved and inspired by an athlete as much as IT.

He should come back as a player development coach

He was so lovable in general, but I honestly feel that him playing pickup hoops around the city with kids won everyone over. Never seen anything like it. Great dude.

  11. The reason I support the Celtics. I’ll always support him

Can’t wait til we see the first ingame casualty and a 65 year old IT tags the GM on Twitter.

That said he was special. No injury and we probably win in 2017 behind an IT/Jaylen/Tatum/Gordon/Horford lineup instead of having the kyrie experience.

Maybe we even get shai when we keep our pick.

He may be on a very short list (no pun intended) of most beloved Celtics.

Easily my favorite Celtic who never won a ring
