Shaq talks abt 1995 Finals loss to Hakeem: “It taught me to never celebrate too early. After we beat the Bulls, I let up. ‘We beat Mike, we straight’…We had 8 days off and we were just celebrating… We go down 0-1, go down 0-2, going to Houston, and we know we don’t have a shot, so we get swept”

The Magic had a whole seven game series against the Pacers between playing the Bulls and playing the Rockets.
Off the record, Shaq has parroted this lie on multiple occasions. The Rockets had eight days off before the Finals while the Magic had three
Another day, another Shaq story that probably never happened
Shaq’s teams prior to 2000 were the kings of sweeps. They had a reputation of folding like a cheap suit when you they got punched in the mouth. They got shell shocked in game 1 with Nick Anderson and that was it. They were down 20 at home in the first half of game 2.
Reminds me of the Wolves this year. Spent their entire emotional tank beating the Nuggets in 7, only to get their ass whooped by a Dallas team who they went 3-1 against in the regular season.
Imagine learning you’ll face the reigning NBA champs in the NBA finals after they just smacked up the league’s number one team and MVP, and being like “nah no worries we’re good”
For all his bullshit, Shaq was right about stepping up the next times he made the Finals:
2000 Finals: 38/17/2
2001 Finals: 33/16/5
2002 Finals: 36/12/4
Accountability! Fuck Lebron!!
Poor Reggie Miller and the Pacers forgotten T_T
Shaq spinning things for his ego again… partying or not Hakeem made him look like glen davis that entire series.
Shaq’s the best.
Shaq always said, that Hakeem put that work on him.
Shaq is a great motivation for me. To be a man of his stature and still think he’s not enough makes me feel a bit better about myself.
Off the record
Nick Anderson shouldn’t have missed those 4 free throws. As a Rockets fan I’m glad he did but damn how do you look your teammates in the eye after that.
shaq once again doing a self report, softest mentality in league history
He didn’t “let up”. The Dream put him to sleep
Shaq the victim is getting real tiresome
That’s what the Wolves looked like after beating Denver this past year. They were a different team in the Conf finals.
Shaq always be like
1. Say some bs to excuse any of his failures in an attempt to elevate his past legacy (while discrediting others)
2. Doesn’t work so get called stupid
3. Double down
4. Doesn’t work so get hate
5. Donate like $15k or buy someone a fridge at Home Depot
6. Profits as people buy his shit (papa jones, drinks etc.)
Shaq is full of shit. They weren’t let down. They were up solid in game one and had an epic choke taken advantage of by h town. He just trying to protect his boy nick the brick.
It wasn’t the celebrating that was the problem- Hakeem was simply better than Shaq.
The rare story without an Aristotle quote.
Talks about never letting off the gas, but rolls into mid-season 400lbs and smelling like cheeseburgers and strippers.
Beating the bulls in the 90s was basically winning a ring
Sounds alot like the Timberwolves this year against Denver and then Dallas.
He said “Me and D. Scott” not “me and these guys” straight called him out 🤣🤣
That’s a bullshit excuse. He got his ass handed to him.
As a Magic fan, I’ll never get over the 95 finals. Probably my first true heartbreak as a kid. Still stings to this day lol 🙃🫠🥲
Man just completely erased the 7 Game Series Eastern Conference Finals with Indiana from memory, lol
