An aging vet with an injury history? No thanks

Dude loves the spotlight so I could see him wanting to play in NYC. But he’s going to be 36 next season, doesn’t really put butts in the seats, and won’t take us to the playoffs. If he’s down to come for the absolute minimum and happy with a mentor role, sure.

Cooper Flagg, Cam Thomas, Claxton, and Butler?

We’re a major market with a well respected organization that has unlimited cap space next summer.

We’re gonna be used for leverage by every big name in free agency. This is a good thing, we’re doing favors for the player and his agent while maintaining our reputation as a team players want to play for.

This is a good thing. Just because it’s in the news doesn’t mean the nets are serious about it, just means they’re ok with it being in the news.

Trading for a 36yo to mesh with our 20 somethings, take their playing time and diminish our draft position in 26 is as stupid as it sounds and gets even more illogical the further you think about it. Brooklyn would be idiotic to entertain this idea.

Fortunately, this is propaganda used by agents and players to get their clients paid, expect more of this nonsense to continue as Brooklyn is one of the only teams with major cap space

This is a click-bait story for Brain Lewis and a leverage play for Jimmy’s Camp.

Hopefully, this organization has learned its lesson in dealing with Old Stars! They can completely sink your franchise and also I haven’t forgotten what Jimmy did, he played apart in the Nets downfall when he flopped into KD’s knee, the last time KD wore a Net’s jersey was because of [Jimmy’s foul-baiting](https://x.com/JarrettAlien/status/1623716529446481926), screw that guy.

It makes no sense to spend so much cap space on a soon to retire veteran while rebuilding a team. The cap space available is a serious threat for any team that wanna sign a player chasing a bag. Is Marks interested? I hope not.

Would be a good pickup for a cheap shorter term contract. He’d be a great leader and mentor for an up and coming Nets team.

However, if he wants big money then this doesn’t make any sense.

I mean, if end up landing premium talent in the draft, I don’t see what the problem is. Would certainly benefit from having a guy like that mentor some rookies

I say wait till we get Flagg or Ace before we start making plans.

Jimmy and Simmons have the same agent, right now I see this as good press for nets and jimmy by his agent for dragging around the corpse of Simmons for the past few seasons

No, and I didn’t think his ramped-up, type a personality is going to play well as he ages.

If he’s on a cheap deal to mentor Flagg or Bailey, sure. If it’s a market value deal, it makes no sense.

  14. Yea let’s do a repeat of Paul Pierce and get an old aging star that won’t win us anything

  15. He’s a little old but that attitude is EXACTLY what Brooklyn needs

  16. “But he’ll take shots away from cam Thomas” – This is the attitude we need to lose

He’s using the nets has leverage, I do appreciate if he actually would like to play here but it’s better he stays competing in Miami than a young roster, I do believe tho he does also have the mentality of KD of hating the Knicks tho lol
