I just want to take the chance to say that never was my aim to create this “havoc”. I changed the way that these grids were made on other NBA subs to this method that I’ve seen on others just because it seemed more reprensentative of reality.
However, I’m not here to say which one is the correct one and of course, this is just a silly offseason post but redo it with the most total upvotes, this is just Reddit and a simple game.
Please, just try to be kind and see our greatness even if it sees Marc Gasol as the best Passer ahah

Fred VanVleet as he solidified our championship odds the bench. He was absolutely a beast and the best in the finals and forever grateful for that.

Aside from him, regular season wise? Lou Will.

  3. Kyle Lowry. That might sound crazy, but hear me out.

To me a role player is someone who does the little things. Chasing loose balls, taking charges, playing tight defence, hustling more than anyone – all despite not being the most gifted/talented player on the team.

That doesn’t describe anyone in Raptors history more than Kyle Lowry. He’s the GROAT, but it’s his role player like tendencies, not his skill, that made him that great.

Depends on your definition of roleplayer. I think it comes down to José Calderón and Fred VanVleet if we go by the notion of them being a supporting piece that compliments one’s 1st/2nd option rather than being that option outright.

VanVleet gets the edge even if he did outgrow the overall role of roleplayer as his time and place on The Bench Mob was one of the most effective supporting casts the Raptors ever fielded and unlike Calderón, it demonstrably contributed to winning basketball. In the latter half of the Bucks series and especially the Finals, Dad VanVleet was a key contributor to that Finals run and our first ever championship.

It’s also narratively satisfying to see Fred succeed given his pathway into the NBA was that of an undrafted free agent who had to grind his way into the rotation. More importantly, he proved it was worth betting on him instead of Delon Wright who was part of the trade for Marc Gasol and whom was the subject of much debate as to whether the Raptors “made the right choice” between him and Fred. Lo and behold, VanVleet was the right choice and became a 1x All-Star, the first undrafted player to do so since Ben Wallace.

Shoutout to Calderón though; an eternally underappreciated sniper and an excellent playmaker in his own right even if his volume was significantly lower than Fred. If those Bosh teams had more success/focus then perhaps the nod would have gone to him.
