Mitchell Robinson’s the Knicks X-factor

I wanted to share this here as I thought it was a relevant topic by taking a look at Mitchell Robinson's game and why he is so important this upcoming season. I recently made a video highlighting where and how he makes a difference on both ends of the floor. I was also interested to hear what others thought of Mitch entering this season. What type of expectations do you have given the preseason buzz, and are you hoping the Knicks can add more frontcourt depth giving his injury history?

Mitchell Robinson is a game changer.

When he is healthy, energized and playing at his best, he makes the knicks such a difficult team to beat.

Mitchs main problem is obviously health. His second problem is consistency, i feel like hes more energized some games then others, but to be fair that goes for most players.

If mitchell robinson can play 30mpg for 65 or more games, knicks will be insanely tough to beat.

so much of our seasons aspirations depend on Mitch staying healthy. it’s our obvious and glaring weakness. it can’t be overstated how much it hurts that we lost IHart. with him still around I would be putting us right into the frontrunner for a chip group of about 4 teams, without him we are in the next group down from that, but with a hurt Mitch we’re a whole other step down from that.

OGs health is the real xfactor. Come hell or high water we’ll be getting another C at the trade dradline. That doesnt bother me. OG cant be replaced We need OG and Mikal at 100 percent to guard the Brown/Tatum and Maxey/George combos. If OG EVER needed an injury free season, its this one.

  4. when mitch is impacting the game he is an x factor. but our expectation for centers in the thibs era has always been rebound, defend the paint, set screens, and get out of the way on offense. a very low standard, if our center can do a little flip shot and pass alittle bit thats a luxury.

  5. My theory is he will be in full beast mode this season.

We don’t beat Cavs in 2023 or Philly in 2024 without Mitch. And notice how we didn’t beat Miami in 23 or Indiana in 24 without him. WE NEED MITCH!!

I really thought about this hard today- the two biggest X factors for this season is Randle and Robinson.

Hear me out- a lot of ppl have made a big deal about getting a backup center or q starting center solid enough to push Mitch to backup. But I don’t think the Knicks are going to make any drastic moves in the center department bcuz they are going to take a gamble on both starting Mitch and a small-ball lineup with Randle at the 5. Imagine a small ball lineup with JB/Divo/Bridges/OG/Randle and with all the guys in the bench that we can rotate btwn 1-4- that would be one of the best offenses in the league. And it only works if Randle can thrive at the key of a 4 and 1. If Randle works at the key, then there will be no need for a solid backup center. Then, when they’re not running small ball, they can go with a more traditional lineup with Mitch at the 5, which I’ve never had a problem with. Of course this is assuming that Mitch can stay healthy- imo if we can get 65-70 games out of him and he stays healthy enough to make the playoffs then I would say it was a successful season for him.

It’ll be a make or break season for the both of them but there’s so much to gain if it works out
