I’m open to the argument that Gobert is the least watchable player in the NBA. I fucking hate his game, but it is pretty effective.
I don’t get this criticism, if it was Simmons okay I could see it, or if he was throwing out guys who regressed hard after getting paid (Poole, Wiggins come to mind). Hell I could see it if Shaq was using this argument to slander guys who are big into load management.
I don’t think anyone has accused Rudy of being lazy. He is in fantastic shape, he plays night in and night out including all the minor injuries. He has his limitations sure, but let’s not pretend Shaq was a perfect player without limitations too.
Anyone else getting sick of the constant Rudy slander campaign? It’s been going on for like 7 years, can people really not accept that he’s one of the best defensive players ever?

Like, I get he’s seriously unskilled offensively. But even I, far from some basketball genius, can clearly see how impactful he is defensively with his positioning, length, and general savvy. You’d think professional basketball players who literally spent decades of their lives learning about how to play basketball at a high level, would understand what Rudy does. Especially centers.
Like, does Derrick Lively and did Shaq never once think about positioning on the pick and roll or the timing of when to show and retreat? They’re centers for fuck’s sake. Rudy’s so fucking good at that, you’d think real NBA players would appreciate it.

He’s said in the past he hates Rudy because he gets to play in an era where no one plays defense, so he thinks Rudy basically gets handed the DPOY award every year, while he never got one because it was more of a defensive league at the time and he had to battle the likes of Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace.
