Kuz: At this point its like “dont be that team”.

Congrats Washington, you dodged a bullet.

  4. “Fuck them kids.”

    – Evan Fournier probably

Sure makes sense, he probably wouldn’t even make the rotation as they have Jordan Poole, Corey Kispert, Kyle Kuzma and Bilal Coulibaly at the 2/3. Spending a couple years earning the League minimum and sitting at the end of the bench on a league worst level team or go back to Europe, and actually start for a competitive team.

Honestly, I can respect that he actually wants to play and compete in Europe rather than sit on the bench for a 20 win team while “mentoring” Jordan Poole.

Valid point on his part but I also gotta ask, why would a team want Fournier as the mentor anyway? A guy who (afaik) never won a single playoff round doesn’t seem like the ideal candidate for that role.

Who wants Evan Fournier as a mentor anyway

  9. Electrical-Mule-2057

Fournier does play like he think he’s a star, so I respect it

A career bust and bad player saying this is hilarious

A lot of fringe NBA players don’t go to Europe because it ends up being hard for them to be away from family and in an unfamiliar league. Fournier is French anyway, so makes complete sense that he’d go to a competitive league and have a much larger role without those hesitations.

Good for him. Honestly it’ll probably be really fun for him over there.

Wizards fans taking this as an insult to their team, but It’s a reality. He’s surely not the only one. Olympiacos is way bigger anyway.

honestly good for Ev. he clearly has gas left in the tank, but he also is not good enough where he can be valuable to a contending team in the NBA. at least in Europe he’ll get to play meaningful minutes and be a contributor for a good team. dude had a 12 year NBA career and was a solid starter for most of it.

  15. onamonapizza

Ah yes, known NBA winner and veteran…

    …*checks notes*….

    Um, Evan…Forn-year

  16. kanyeguisada

Meanwhile CP3 happily going to the Spurs in his later years to help mentor our currently losing team.

  17. Tapprunner

Raise your hand if you want Evan Fournier to mentor your team’s young players.

    Anyone?

This is basically France declaring war on America

  19. wigsgo_2019

I honestly don’t understand not wanting that role, you sit on the bench every game cheering on your guys like a fan, you get paid millions of dollars and your season ends 2 months early, that’s the best gig in sports

  21. Dude was washed. Nothin left for NBA level games

    wizards should be relegated

probably the most irrelevant team in the last 40+ years of the NBA

  23. LjvWright

I think this is fair for Fournier. He was ass on the pistons and quite clearly wants to enjoy winning again.

On vet leadership A lot of people on here don’t know what vet leadership means. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a star, if you’ve been in the league for 10 years you pick up habits and know how which you can pass on to the young guys.

Most likely for stuff off the court, like training regimens, housing situations, car purchases, suit locations, advice for things like nights out, money saving advice, girls, just life situations. Young players might now want to trouble their coach with these things so they ask the vet for help.

He’s not good enough to be mentoring anyone.
