Smart of the state’s government to put up the sign on a highway, figuring no one is going to stop in Connecticut. Anyway, I disagree, given the birthplace of the game and the current NBA champions, the basketball capital of the world is not in Connecticut, it’s instead somewhere in New England.

UNLV Runnin’ Rebels – 1990 The greatest college basketball team ever assembled. 7th all time winningest program in NCAA.

The biggest AAU ,holiday and sneaker tourneys dating back to Sonny V. Note: because of Tark, Sonny V is probably the reason that so many events and important people call Vegas Home.
PAC-1(2), MWC, WCC, WAC and Big West all host their March Tournaments in Las Vegas. Big 12 is next.

Not a recent thing. Dickie V [dubbed Storrs the capital of the basketball world](https://youtu.be/ssXUYwTRQ5A?si=pfyCddW_744tzTBr) back in 1995. Since then, the women’s team have won 11 titles and the men 6. No college has won the men’s and women’s national title in the same year, except for UConn, which has done it twice. It’s was also [added to the court at Gampel](https://www.fox61.com/article/sports/ncaa/uconn/uconn-reveals-new-court-gampel-pavilion/520-16840dcc-228c-4f75-b616-27919a37b88e) last season.
