I came upon a great Twitter thread the other day created by the Hot Hand Theory podcast back in March where they broke down Moody’s defensive game tape from a then-recent game against the Raptors. I consolidated the thread into one video for ease of consumption.

Please note that the text underneath each clip is the text of the tweet that corresponds to that video. In other words, the analysis comes from the guys at the Hot Hand Theory podcast, it is not mine. The link to the full thread is here.

For context re: the Hot Hand Theory podcast for those unfamiliar with it, it's probably the most objective, if not one of the most, podcasts out there these days that provides in depth, thoughtful, and nuanced basketball analysis free of any kind of agenda. It's become one of the few I can still listen to without feeling the need to apply a BS talking head narrative filter when listening to it. So I definitely recommend it for any looking for NBA related podcasts to listen to.

Wait who else is a criminally undersized elite defender with an abnormal wingspan for their height? Oh yeaaaah … Dray! I see a lot of similarities in their defensive game in this small sample size albeit at the 1/2/3 positions vs 1-5 for Dray. I genuinely hope and wish that Moody can crack this rotation this season and get 20-25mpg all season long.

On paper the Melton and Hield signing makes sense, but part of me wished they trust Moody taking a leap and only just signed one of them.

  3. Every basketball mind that I respect in the public media has said “Moses Moody is a really good player, I don’t know why he doesn’t get more opportunities for Golden State” and I can’t help but agree with them.

Moody should start at the 2 and I’m sure we will see his development. Not giving him minutes is Kerr’s fault.
