Not one of these is worth a damn. Let the good jerseys breathe and build something as opposed to changing every year. You can’t even create future nostalgia anymore….
Definitely feels like we’re just making jerseys to make jerseys at this point.

He’s correct. Jerseys don’t feel iconic anymore. They’ve been largely trash ever since Nike got the contract, HOWEVER the adidas jerseys were some of the worst jerseys ever. Especially the sleeved joints
I don’t really keep up with jerseys. But from what I’ve seen they’re so bland.
He’s right. We can’t create Future Nostalgia anymore. Dua Lipa already created it in 2020.
They don’t care about nostalgia, they have to find a way to sell merchandise and come out with new crap every year to keep the money train running.
It’s true. They’ve thrown away some great designs to chase money. They probably would’ve made more money keeping the best jerseys around and associating it with an era of some team.
It may sound frivolous to some, but I’m fond of basketball design and iconography, so this recent disposable jersey trend is driving me completely bonkers. It’s nearly impossible to build a cohesive, recognizable identity when jersey are being flip-flopped year in and year old (not to mention while being utilized at random now with no strong ties to being home or road jerseys).
The Pistons, over the past 10 years, have issued alternative jerseys in the following colors:
* navy blue
* royal blue
* black
* grey
* darker grey
* teal
* red
It’s all just been a total mess. Worst of all, when a team actually hits a home run, it’s all for naught, because it’s getting shelved after a single season no matter what.
* forest green
The City Edition jerseys suck and NBA Nike Jerseys sucks.
idk I think a number of them are good, Charlotte is better than their normal, Indy is just color inverse of their last one, Denver bringing the aurora back finally, Sixers one is fun, Toronto’s is a great throwback, same with Utah, and the Nola is better than their usual, so worth it for some of them
Big Brand Design has no soul, no storytelling, no meaning anymore. It’s just blatant money plays. Shit design, shittier materials, higher prices.
As much as people tell me designers work on this stuff I’m like 90% sure whoever is hired to “honor the community” emails Nike a basic list of what they would like and Nike says PROOF FINAL PLZ APPROVE and bam.
no actual artist would create this shit lol.
My question is, is this even a good idea from a business perspective?
Do we honestly believe that Nike would have sold fewer jerseys if they had just kept the good designs as a part of the team’s permanent rotation?
Does he realize these are jerseys that teams only wear a few times a season, and that the current images lack numbers?
who tf is “vincent goodwill” lol
i actually think the designs this year are pretty solid. this kinda fuss should have been put towards last year when half the league decided to wear black jerseys and put nothing more than a name and number. like the raptors, grizzlies, mavs got some pretty huge upgrades from last year if you ask me. and then there’s the wizards, knicks, sixers, pacers, kings, suns, hornets, nets, cavs and blazers who keep a solid
and then after that you got teams like the pistons, spurs, and clippers which may not be totally cool but hey they got some color now and at least its interesting. the only team that might flat out suck is the heat
Fully agreed. They flooded the market with alternates, each iteration worse than the last.
on the flip side YES THE MINT HORNETS JERSEYS ARE BACK
i honestly really like a lot of these. some of them are just boring though
>“Not one of these is worth a damn
See, that’s funny. Because most of those jerseys would sell out instantly.
“Create future nostalgia” feels like such a weird thing to say. It makes enough sense but it’s a very strange phrase to me.
These look so plain and lame. I like how colorful the older style was and liked consistency. I cannot figure out what the teams are half of the time because the jerseys dont match the team colors.
Nike is so lazy. I get having the seasonal alternative to drive sales but they are putting zero effort in. Would be simpler to just rerelease a retro jersey every season vs this city stuff (or just mix up the alternate colors)
what i don’t get is why everything is so minimalist. there too afraid to go crazy with it. that’s what made old jerseys iconic
Ist getting stupid! I love the 90’s those jerseys ment something.
He’s not wrong, pretty much all of those are shite. Maybe with the exception of the Toronto jersey because I like the logo.
There are some great jerseys that they could bring back that would sell way better, the Heat Vice jerseys, those late 90’s Pistons jerseys, the KG Wolves jerseys of the 00’s, the AI Sixers jersey, the Barkley Suns jerseys, and I’d do unspeakable things for the 94 All Star jerseys.
I think the Spurs should rebrand to their current city edition full time
I think it’s such a unique color scheme, fun typography, and would be a nice way to create a new identity for the Wemby era
In general, I 100% agree.
As a Jazz fan, nah we needed jersey changes this season fuck that highlighter shit.
100% agree with letting them breathe and not changing every year. They all mostly suck but that Raptors jersey with the raptor doing Vince Carter’s dunk is awesome.
Raptors throwback is tight, wish it was the one with the actual raptor on it tho
Nike puts out too many alternates an teams wear their alts too much
