[Winderman] ‘Punish them’: Heat’s Nikola Jovic looking to stand taller with camp around corner

“But the thinking is similar, that when big meets small off a defensive switch, a statement needs to be made — a powerful statement.

That, Jovic said, is where much of his focus stood this summer in preparing for the Oct. 1 start of training camp.

‘I would say the biggest thing I was working on the most was when I’m working in the low post, when I have a smaller guy on me, I just have to punish them,’ Jovic, 21, said. ‘That’s something I think will help our team a lot. So I would say that’s the main thing for me, other than still being able to spread the floor and everything I already did.’

‘Being able to punish every mismatch I think is a really important part of that game for me,’ he said, ‘and that’s what I’ll keep working on and try to do as much as I can.’”

I noticed in his second starting stint that opposing teams would sometimes put their guards on Jovic. Would for sure be beneficial if he can punish those mismatches more
