This is the most I’ve ever heard Tayshaun speak.

Cool listen I always thought that was Kobe’s strategy for certain defenders. He would wear them down with post ups maybe get them a few fouls and by the 4th guys were usually gassed. Then iso and get to his spots or later in his career run the pick and roll with Pau.

Although this was after Tayshaun’s time, I remember Bron’s second stint Cavs running so many damn hammer actions…with big bodies too in Mozgov, TT, and Love. Shutting off Bron’s corner 3 passing lanes looked physically brutal.

So they had the same strategy…. wear the defender down in the first 3 quarters and play to your strengths and bully the tired defenders in the fourth

Didn’t need that many screens when Bron cooked him in the 2007 playoffs.

Imagine if only *one* of them was different.

Tay was almost the original wingspan freak. Guys just plain weren’t used to somebody with arms as long as his. This is a guy who earned his starting spot by coming in as a “let’s throw shit at the wall and see what sticks” idea when the Pistons were down 3-1 in the first round to the Magic, and he turned the series around by turning Tracy McGrady into a pumpkin.

In 2004, Tay was the 5th starter. In 2024, he’d be making $20M a year

Also KG I love you, but let the man talk after you ask him a question.

My man KG, listen for a second.

This is why Kobe is thought of so highly, revered so.

The basketball game was not the same against Kobe. If you let him get to his spots, he’s going to outscore your entire team.

It wasn’t quite the same as the physical effort of chasing LeBron through screens, curry around the whole damn court, etc. There was a single moment that decided every possession. A split second, where the defense either let Kobe manipulate them to get to one of his many spots, or an all-out blitz and gamble to keep him away from it. Because once he was there, you were barbecued chicken. 99 times out of 100.

It’s like that 20-year-old LeBron on a fast break, but Kobe had five spots, and if he got to any of them…… Ain’t really shit you could do but pray

This is the highest praise I’ve heard somebody give LeBron’s (1st stint) Cavs teammates.

Back in 05-06 I randomly met Tayshaun’s college Roomate and teammate from Kentucky – Jules Camara. This was in Ankara Turkey… we hung out for like a month and partied over the summer. Jules loved beer and chain smoking cigs lol. Such a weird but memorable experience.

LMAO I love Isiah saying that he doesn’t know what Tayshaun is talking about when guarding guys like this

LeBron didn’t have that elite step of some top scorers, but if he got that step off a pick and roll…he was a monster at finishing or hitting an excellent assist.

To be fair how many guys 6’5 or taller have an elite first step? Not many.

This is no disrespect to Kobe or anyone else, but Lebron just played a smarter game.
