Long, bumpy ride ahead, 'bro. The season is upon us. I agree with the assessment in general. But like you I want nothing to do with being "mid" or the play in. Now…if we were a TRUE rebuilding team. ALL our main guys were 20-25 years old, young and promising? Sure. Give it your best shot. If we were Giddey, Coby, Ayo, PW, Smith, Matas, Terry, Philipps, Bitim, Sanogo? Maybe a bit of Porter Jr, Duarte, THT sprinkled in? A couple of vets used in spot minutes? If THAT team was a promising 40-42 play in one and going toe to toe with the best in the NBA every game? I'd take that. If people were saying about THAT team "look out for the Bulls in '25-'26. They're looking scary!" I'd take a play in spot. But the reality is Zach, Vuc, Craig, Carter, and 'Zo are still on the team. And as long as they are and playing meaningful minutes? Even if its just three of five of them with meaningful minutes? In fact even if just Zach and Vuc! Than nope. A play in spot will not do. How would that be different from the last two seasons? And we have a pick to lose on top of it? No thank you. I'll take 6th place under any circumstances. But 7-8-9-10? Only if 7-8-9-10 isn't our obvious ceiling before people start screaming "BLOW IT UP!" again. We have to be smarter, and better.
