  1. You are spreading false news about VC. The selfish fans turned against him after we lost that game to Iverson and the Sixers. Local papers like the Toronto Sun blamed the loss on him because he attended his own graduation ceremony prior to the game.

  2. I mean did Vince jump on a Toronto Diss Track Like Demar Did ? It’s time to give it to him and to Kyle. DRo can wait a couple years…..

  3. i) The quote has been taken out of context. One could interpret it as him acknowledging his talent but needing to work harder due to injuries. Even John Thomson mentioned that it was misinterpreted.

ii) Mitchell began focusing the offense around Bosh and Araujo, while Babcock was looking to rebuild. Before Carter was traded, his steal and block percentages were among his best as a Raptor. On the nets, Jason Kidd make sure Carter was again the number 1 go to scorer.

iii) If you watch the Maximillian highlight reels of Carter, he still delivered some powerful dunks even after those comments. Considering he was coming off injuries, doctors advised that continuing to dunk frequently could shorten his career. I too be frustrated if journalists keep asking me, hey why don’t you dunk as the same frequency as 2001.

iv) In video footage, none of the other players confirmed the rumors. Besides, one tip-off play wouldn’t have changed the game’s outcome. There’s a lot of psychological strategy around securing a defensive rebound.

  4. Look it's either you forgive the man or you don't because if you look at his career as a raptor and what he did for the country he deserves to be the first ever raptor jersey to be retired but, if you don't then what you said we should even retire Kawhi jersey before his is somewhat valid. I forgive the man so I'm glad his jersey is going up

  5. If Vince did bring popularity of basketball to Toronto, the team would have probably been sold and it would be the Seattle Raptors now or some other state and that would have been the end of the Canadian NBA experiment.

  6. So long as they're retiring jerseys VC should be first. VC is retired and Lowry is still playing. Lowry will be next but after that it'll take some time. If Barnes plays his entire career in Toronto and wins a chip or makes several AS he has a shot.

  7. Let's stop this slander, Vince Carter put us on the map, he is also the godfather of basketball birthing all these NBA players we see now, if there was no Vince Carter I doubt there would be an SGA, or Jamal Murray etc… It is what it is, how we went out, but the Vince Carter years were some damn good exciting years period.

  8. Ben you're holding on this like it's an Ex girlfriend. Nobody can't deny that this man changed Canada basketball. Give him his flowers, people are holding onto his exit like he committed a crime. It's sports like any other job. You have nothing against your co workers or clients but your boss and the company changed the direction of the company and your beliefs don't align. Kyle, and DeMar will be next. Order of retirement means nothing. It's recognition. I believe if covid didn't happen the organization would of probably signed him to a one day deal officially. The only other #15's in the NBA who people remember are Carmelo Anthony and Nikola Jokic, Peace ✌🏽.

  9. VC > DeMar DeRozan x 10. The highest talent we had overall for a long period of time, most iconic player we had. Lowry has the champ with longevity and Kawhi was a goat that one season. It will be stupid look if we don't retire VC's jersey when he is going to the HOF. Not to mention he is the one who makes Canadians start to watch and care about basketball.

  10. Simply put without Vince you don't have a Raptors YouTube channel there will be no Raptors sub reddit or any Toronto basketball. Vince was bigger than basketball at the time he set the culture. Music, movies, entertainment, lifestyle you name it! He had the world in the palm of his hands. You hold onto resentment for nothing. This was HIS career he only had one shot for greatness he did the right thing. Anyone would leave too if u were in his position. Get over it and grow up ❤ lol.

  11. Even though he played elsewhere we had his best and most athletic years. Seeing him play with Tracey McGrady was the best.

  12. Vince Carter put Toronto on the basketball map. Almost every young Canadian player in the league today, started playing BECAUSE of Vince Carter. His legacy led to where the Team is today.
You can't blame him exclusively for his final season in Toronto. The management was shit, they wouldn't put players around him. It was a sad time for the team. I didn't blame him at the time for wanting out.

  13. Dude stop with negativity he inspired a whole country and a generation to play basketball. yes he should be the first you have know idea VC 100%

  14. Carter got Canadians into basketball. Ive always thought the raptors could've relocated like the grizzlies if he wasn't there filling seats. Retire his jersey for sure 🇨🇦

  15. If you werent an adult between 1999 and 2001… you didnt experience the media toxicity after 9/11. Media, not Vince is to blame. Pump and dump etc became the media models. Vince was the greatest Raptor ever, and toxic media emmerged after his injuries. If you were too young to experience it first hand, and no offence … you missed it. So of course you will think Lowrey is the Goat. Lowry wasn't as important to Canadian (or Global) basketball as VC. Not even close.

  16. it was management’s fault back then, it won’t be that ugly if we had current management. Tell me if Bobcock did 1 good thing for Raptors…

  17. We have to do it if we respect raptors history or we have a unrespected franchise. We have to respect our past. Kyle his friend so is Demar . It’s the right thing to do in a down year. I’ve been there for the boos but I’ve followed raptors prior to Bosh . So I’ve seen it all live . We forgave him and punished him. So full forgiveness is jersey retirement. He regretted leaving . we never wanted him to go and we were heart broken. In his defense our gm was garbage … he had 5 or 4 coaches in 7 years . Don’t quote me but it was bad . N raptors are way more organized as a club today . He would love it now

  18. There are people telling others to "Just let it go" which I didn't agree with. People feel what they feel, and it's hard to just change that and forgive on the spot from outside voices. I think what Ben and other's grievance is coming for a valid place.

However, though you don't have to let it go, but Vince is our legend because of the positive impact for the franchise, the NBA brand, he was ELITE, arguably top 75, but also impact our city and Canadian basketball. That's what being celebrated and why his jersey should be in hanging in our city, and any attempt to contrast this is with the bad needs to stop. It shouldnt matter whether VC or Lowry's jersey should be first to retire but tbh I'm really getting tired of Lowry's legacy being used to spite other controversial Raptors legends.

Not only that but you left out that John Thompson mentioned that the quote was misinterpreted. If you ask ANY NBA legend current or retired, they'll also say there are times they haven't given there all and would acknowledge that. I don't agree with this being a crime against VC. Also despite him telling a reporter "I'm not dunking", he still did dunks afterwards before getting traded.

I think what's worst about this video is that you seem to took the CLAIMS of the Supersonic bench players as FACT by adding this report as a part of your overall argument, despite it never being confirmed by the other players. If a report was never confirmed, why would one risk adding it to their case they're making?

As harsh as this sounds and I don't think you're a malacious person, I've been watching your channel since you and Ryker, but despite saying you've forgiven Vince, you clearly haven't. You said we "shouldn't be petty" against him, but you clearly are. You don't have to forgive and let go, but just be honest, stop trying to worsen VC's legacy and stop using Lowry as a crutch.

  19. I heard about this 2 months ago and broke it Sept 4th. Annoying to see this allegedly breaking today. I can confirm at least 120 people knew about this almost a month ago. Weird.

  20. I think its a good decision by the Raptors to retire Vince Carter's Jersey first. He put Toronto on the map. He is also a huge part of this canadian generation of basketball talent that are coming up. Alot of them view Carter as their Michael Jordan. We own alot more than just the years he played here, he changed basketball in this country. He sure did for me.

  21. Raptors Rule
Watching Basketball since 1967 a Celtic fan at the beginning.
Then Canada got into the NBA RAPTORS.
    Very tough times.
Then Vince Carter came and was the player that changed Basketball in Canada forever.
There are two sides to every story..
Since then the RAPTORS organization has become 9:06 top ranked.
Keep up your great work being one of the best in reporting Raptors news
Been a subscriber from the beginning
    ❤ Old man😂

  22. What's funny is VC gets more love and recognition from American fans and even all former players who grew up idolizing him more than the people in Toronto. These young kids had no idea what he meant to the city just on a periphery note. I mean really Kawahi jersey retirement? Thats why I cant take their opinion seriously.

  23. The last few years VC and the organization were at odds and the fans ended up paying the price. Yes, V(W)ince Carter tarnished his Raptors legacy and even had Keon Clark and his teammates calling him out for lazy play but at the end of the day he still deserves recognition for what he accomplished as a Raptor.

  24. I don’t think it matters when he gets his number retired. But it needs to be retired. Lowry and Derozen need to get there numbers retired too when the time comes

  25. What a fkn joke. Masai has ruined this franchise over the last 5 years with his horrible decision making but this takes the cake. Everyone knows Lowry should have been the 1st. I'm going to celebrate so hard when that moron Masai and his cult are finally out of T.O

  26. He brought the Raptors out of obscurity, and placed on this franchise….Why wouldn’t the 1st Superstar be the 1st to be retired…he changed the culture of Toronto

  27. The issue Vince had with Toronto wasn’t the fans, it was the franchise for all the things you named how they operated…He never hated the fans slot of y’all out there are so delusional its sickening

  28. I'd like to see KL go up first but he's not retied yet… and I don't want to see Brooklyn putting VC up before Raptors.
Why is Brooklyn retiring VC's number anyway…

  29. Vince should not have his number retired by anyone. The fact that his best years were in Toronto speaks volumes to how much he coasted through his career.

  30. Even after what happened, it’s because of this guy i became a Raptors fan…so all has been forgiven
