[Russo] Lawrence Frank on Kawhi Leonard’s status: “His right knee, the swelling has significantly gone down. It’s almost gone. … We’re going to hold him back from drill work [in training camp] and work on strengthening.”

Some mixed messaging coming from various Clippers beat reporters. Hints that Kawhi had some sort of knee “cleanup” this summer from which he’s not fully recovered.

He’s gonna collect that contract and we’ll never see him again

Not trying to be a downer or sound like I’m hating but genuine question

How much longer do we think kawhi has in the league?

Im genuinely gonna guess not even to the end of this contract, 2-3 years left imo

burying the lede that there apparently was a time where there was a lot of swelling in the knee

Thank god lawrance frank confirmed it was a knee issue. I was sick of seeing the Gilbert Arenas line that “he didn’t look good during olympic practice so they wanted to protect him by saying injury when it isn’t” shit all over youtube.

Okay guess I’ll just get it out of the way now, who do they risk it all for next?

We were absolutely robbed by Kawhi’s extensive injury history. I feel like we still hadn’t seen his true potential/peak years yet. He’s starting to remind me of a different variant of the Brandon Roy trajectory, just more realized success.

Wait, *almost* gone?? Fuuuuck. Poor guy.

  9. outsidehere

Yeah if the Clippers make the playoffs, he’s not playing

    >”His right knee ~~the swelling has significantly gone down.~~ It’s almost gone.”

All you’re doing is postponing the inevitable. At this point, it’s obvious Kahwi is never going to play a full season again.

Pretty sad when that is the good news.

An all time trade for the Raptors organization. Credit to Masai for getting it done when orgs like the Sixers could have traded for him and at least have a ring to show for it by now.

His knee lasted just long enough in a contract year to get the $150m extension from the Clippers

  15. Garkech

Just retire bro. He’ll never go a season without getting injured. You’re just hurting your team

  16. DryOliv3s

Kawhi’s knee is basically like Ben Simmons off season work out. It comes and goes every off season

    “It’s almost gone…”

After I’m guessing not playing NBA level bball for months?

What happens when he eventually does play again?

  18. VanWesley

It’s not even media day yet. Moment of silence for Clippers fans.

The question is, if the season started today, could Kawhi Leonard take the court. No, he could not. And yet, he was prepping for the Olympics. Were some agendas and distortions surrounding his status but the cat is out of the bag.

One month until the season. Kawhi claims to feel encouraged but the Clips are right to do their due diligence.

Spurs were right fuck everyone who sided with him

OKC fans must be feeling really good having the rights on the clippers picks for the next 3 years

I don’t think we care about the swelling going down. That just shows his body is able to heal

The problem is how he gets the swelling and it looks like the answer to that is the game itself

So he’s going to reduce swelling in the offseason then increase it during the regular season until he has to sit out in the final quarter of the season because he’s hurt
